    Great video, buy you forgot a few tiny details.. such as how that thermal paste basically works like an adhesive in the way it holds the main board to the frame. & the bigger of the 5 cameras on the LG k92 5G had some extra tape holding it in so it straight up broke with the lens separating from the camera itself when I tried to pry the board from the frame, luckily I had two more of the same phone that I was able to pull parts from. You didn't make any of this seem like work when it most certainly is work to pull all these components without damaging something. But as far as showing which connectors go where & the general order of the tear down I'd say this was fairly informative.

    This q92 is made by longcheer

    Hello, this video has been very helpful in replacing my broken screen, ive only have one problem however,
    the power button doesnt seem to 'click' in place and I have no idea why that is
    everything else works just fine however thanks to you but I would like to fix the power button
    a response asap would be appreciated!

      The power button isn't too bad to replace, it's on a single flexible ribbon. The clicky part of the button is actually a black dot on top of two metal dishes, sometimes that dot breaks off and prevents the dishes from clicking properly. Best thing to do is order a replacement, they are wildly cheap for those ribbons!

      Very much the exact same process, the internals will look slightly different but I believe most if not all of the steps are the same. To be honest I've only touched maybe one Q92 so I don't recall if there was anything special, though I didn't make a video so it must not have been very interesting or new!

    Welp, got up to the battery removal part then I had to stop. Used some iso and put it on the heat for a minute, attempted to pull it out with a plastic pry tool which snapped. Then tried pulling it out with tweezers, obviously didn't work unless I wanted to ruin them. Tried the guitar pick, started showing signs of bending. Gave up and got a butter knife from the kitchen. Put on some more heat then wedged it in the corner and tried to force it up.
    Don't know if I punctured the cell or not, but I'm going to take this to a repair shop and have them remove it. Don't want this quite literally blowing up in my face.
    Please don't cut parts out of your video. Seeing how you removed the battery would likely have been helpful here.

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  2 роки тому +1

      Will do, I'll leave some more battery removal in thefl future videos. More or less it's about getting it super warm, I let it cook up to about 90°C, and add more iso as needed. You want it to have a bit of iso that hasn't evaporated. It needs to be almost too hot to touch.
      I will say a slight bend in the battery doesn't seem to affect it much at all, but for safety it's best to keep them flat. If you smell sweet juicy fruit gum, it means the cell has been punctured and needs replacement.
      Local shop should be able to extract it for you!

      @@TapticDigital Yup, did all that, no luck. Had a shop get it out for me ten dollars later.
      Now I've come upon a new issue, actually removing the screen from the frame. I didn't realize that they came all put together and you were taking out what was more easily removable. Turns out whole assemblies like what you used cost (now at least) a few bucks less than just the screen and front glass combined on their own and as expected, I'm just outside the holiday return window of january 31st!
      Don't mistake this for me laying all this blame at your feet, I just wish I had some more forethought with my search and purchases. Looks like I got a puzzle for the rest of this weekend! 🤦

      @@uss-dh7909 ah man, I'm really sorry to hear that but I still might be able to help a bit! If you look through my older videos at the OnePlus Nord one, I replace the screen without frame, and show most of the removal and install process. I think that might help steer you in the right direction. But I'm going to write it out below too if it helps.
      Cutting off the screen isn't terribly difficult, it just destroys the screen in the process most times. So if it's still kind of working, it won't be anymore. Heat the screen the same you would the battery (you still have to remove the battery because of the display ribbon under it), and use a thin metal tool, even a razor, to cut the adhesive around the edges of the display. At this point, how you remove the screen is up to you, it might come out easily or it might need some encouraging. Clean the frame of any broken pieces or loose adhesive, place down some adhesive where you can, glues like B7000 can be put around the edges, but double sided tape under the LCD isn't the worst way to attach it either. From there reassembly is all the same. You can always comment here with questions or anything, you can also DM me on Instagram!
      Hope that helps a bit!

      @@TapticDigital Thanks for the rundown, I did end up purchasing a frame/screen assembly after a lot of help from amazon support a couple days after you commented. The screen was shattered and I highly doubted it would have come out easily. Since then I've wrestled with bypassing google account verification and /eventually/ found a method that worked.
      Now everything is pretty much back together again and the phone works great. The only thing I need to do now is reseal the cover but I'm in an interesting place with that. The camera lens covering that's a part of the back cover is also broken, however I took a bunch of photos and they're coming out just fine. I'm starting to suspect that there is some software chicanery going on in the background that's just completely dropping the details given by the affected camera.
      Having gone through this whole process start to finish from when my neighbor initially found the handset, I'm feeling relatively comfortable with at least screen+frame assembly replacement and battery swaps. Was somewhat inspired to do a little repair work on the side picking phones off ebay and reselling them, but it looks like there's a fair lot more involved there.
      Oh well, alls well that ends well, thanks for the tutorial!

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  2 роки тому

      @@uss-dh7909 it really depends on the crack in that lens and where it is, sometimes the camera can just see "past" it with no issue, kind of like holding your phone up to a window screen, if it's close enough those black grid lines almost disappear. I usually go with the "if it's not broke enough, don't fix it" method. The software that processes photos when taking them it also pretty advanced, so it certainly helps.
      Adhering the back can be done with a lot of different adhesives, not sure if you were wondering about those, but I use Tesa double sided adhesive, or B7000 silicone based glue.
      If you enjoy it, I wouldn't quite give up on it. Reselling phones can be pretty lucrative, I have a few subscribers who do just that. It's important to start with one's you are familiar with too, and display with Frame assemblies are by far the best and easiest replacement method.

      Heat the back of the phone with a hairdryer, heatgun or mat till it's warm. Slip a playing card or very thin shim/pry tool in between the gap, drip some isopropyl alcohol on it and your tool should slide easily through the adhesive.

      Double check those antenna wires, make sure the connectors aren't broken on either end. It is also possible that port isn't compatible with your carrier, though as far as I can tell there is only one variant of that port. If everything looks good, you might just assume it's a faulty part and see if the vendor will replace it for you!

If I put back chip cover on and all 11 screws back it goes into loop screen once I power off and restart . Dose anybody have any ideas .

    • @TapticDigital

      Sounds like something is causing the volume and power button to be pressed constantly when screwed together, this triggers the phone to reboot. Try reassembling with one screw at a time and verifying things work, it doesn't need all the screws it has to function.

      New screen shows up at 2:36, the replacement screen is installed in a replacement frame. This is the most time and cost effective method when replacing many screens a day, and slightly less risk than tearing the display off and trying to glue one down. There is only a $5-$10 difference in part cost to use one with a frame.

      Edited this comment after reviewing it some more, you do likely need this part if it contains the temperature sensor. It's just an NFC pad, but may also contain a resistor to sense temperature while charging, without that it will assume the phone is too hot or too cold to charge.

      There are a few options. I use double-sided Tesa tape along with a primer agent that gets brushed on the plastic first. You can also use certain types of glues like B7000, or in some cases you can order the factory adhesive pre-cut to be laid out over it.

      It's entirely up to them, on the cheaper phones I always let them know the price of the phone versus the repair. In some cases people don't want to lose their data or go through the trouble of setting up when they buy a new phone, so repairing the one with their data is easier.
