@ Yea Agatha was Agatha😭 I wish I could start from scratch and go through the series again for the the first time. One of the best paranormal fantasy books on UA-cam. I had to go on audible for the later books but really amazing world and story building
This book is great! I love how you used fantasy and real history to create this world. The narrator did great and the voices brought personality to each character.
1:11:00 bookmark. Excellent book so far, I'm hooked! This is after going through dozens of fantasy audiobooks trying to find a good "fit" and being disappointed. Awesome work with great narration, I can't wait to hear more.
I enjoyed listening. I just started listening to audio books at night. I knew I was hooked by the story when I found myself "rewinding" to catch what I missed when falling asleep. Lol. The history at the end was a nice touch. Thank you!
Enjoyed very much! 💗💗💗 Some little adjustements which annoyed me, was some logic problems; Like you are a witch and other times you could use powerful spells easily and naturally, but other times could not use it even to tie your shoe laces. And it felt not so fluid when characters did understand things so late that even my lazy brain was questioning their IQ 😅 Ideally reader and the character understand things at the same time, with the same speed. Else, it was very enjoyable to listen!!! And the narrator was good too. I am so used to listen Vivienne Lehany's voice as a narrator that nobody else works for me normally, but I enjoyed! And I am so sorry if I sound ungrateful and critical...I am truly very please for this. So many good decisions in writing! Very enjoyable and I listened in 1,5 days the whole book 😅 💕💖💕💖💕💖 Thank you so much for writing an excellent book!!! 💕💖💕💖💕

Will book 2 become an audiobook soon? Audiobooks is how I pass the time as an over the road driver. I would buy the whole series if it was available. This was the best book/audiobook I have come across
You have to look at the authors page or the narrator's page. They often give updates. Unfortunately, over the last several months I have to stop reading series because there are a couple of audiobooks done and like 6-9 not done with no release date in sight. I kind of feel like a series sould be finished in audiobook format if the books are completed prior to the audiobook release. Especially since audiobooks are several times the cost of actual books nowadays. Seems silly to release a book from 2015 with no audio for it yet charge people 14.95 (with numerous subscriptions) or whatever when you can only read the books yet not purchase audio for it. Seems grimy actually
Hi Frankie--book two is available in audio. If you haven't been able to find it, that's because it was temporarily removed from Audible. It should be available again very soon! I will try to update when it is. Books 3-4 are also out!
@@Ms.Norths.Musings Can't speak for all authors, but for most indies the cost of production on audiobooks is the reason why there is often a long delay between the ebook and audiobook release. It usually costs thousands of dollars to have an audiobook professionally produced, and a lot of indies have to rely on profits from the sale of ebooks to float those costs! And although the reader/listener might be paying $14.95/month for an audio subscription, it's very typical for an author to see only $2.50-4 from each sale on a channel like Audible.

Truly spellbinding! (A rollicking good yarn, as a friend of mine would say). I found it hard to pause so as to go to bed on time! Also, I find it interesting that a writer of supernatural fiction has to observe rules that maintain a certain fictional framework while other aspects of the work, such as topography, can remain as close to reality as it pleases them. At the same time there is an underpinning of esoteric lore that has become a fixed meme in literature, as much as it is part of new-age beliefs; a difference such as the spelling of 'aether' instead of 'ether' being but a thin disguise. I wish you the best of luck and success in your career. Same for the reader, who does a fine job all round.

In the meantime I'm always looking for yours I have loved Mountain Shadow and I already wish I could move there but I know it's in your head, and not quite a real place
Thank you for your writings. This was a beautiful story and very well written. Love the way you used Rose with her Bible and spells to work together. Just would have liked to know which brother she would have wound up with. Lol Thanks again a faithful reader.
I never read one of your books. Now I look forward reading more of your works. The location you chose for this book was a bonus for me. I live near Woodland Park and know every turn of the pass. Good story, Good job.
Thank you, Dennis! I am so happy to hear you want to read more. I am in Florissant these days, so the locations in Mountain Shadow are near and dear to my heart. Some of my other series are set in the Southwest. The Fringe is set in Utah, and the Lawless Saga is set near Dixon, NM.
You know you're living in dystopian times when the idea that an apothecary shop in a small town can profitably stay open is an element of fantasy! Thank you for NOT writing another dystopian novel. Honestly, it seems to me most of humanity has been groomed to only see dystopian options for living. A mountain town with a strong local economy and self-sufficient governance seems like such a dreamscape to me. Thanks for that. I'm not much of a novel reader, but I enjoy putting fiction audiobooks on to listen to while I work. Can't listen to old songs anymore without grieving the loss of The World and remembering the unrecoverable mistakes that have brought us to the here and now. What I grieve the loss of most is the diversity of culture and geological niches for that diversity. For example, shops in Greek Town, China Town, Little Italy, etc. within metropolitan cities actually preserve Greek, Chinese and Italian culture from the past 100 years better than any region in Greece, China or Italy. Of course, when the shop workers go home, they are as modernized as anyone in their cities. It's been a long time that western culture has been steamrolling over eastern culture, dropping McDonalds and Apple stores on every town in the world, but even that is a just a symptom of the problem. The problem is the human monoculture being groomed by social engineers. A world in which we all speak the same language, wear the same style of clothes, eat the same foods and live in spaces designed with the same architectural style, and so on, will not only be boring, it will be the death of our species. Monoculture is killing us now and we're watching eastern nations succumb to the "diseases of the affluent countries", like cancer, diabetes and heart disease. There are only a few Blue Zone communities that haven't fallen victim to the deadly, modern monoculture. Progress that actually kills people and the planet is NOT PROGRESSIVE. And while that is likely obvious to all us common folk, the choices made for us by governments and businesses and also the common folk consumer choices all seem to be willfully dismissive of the obvious choice being made, i.e. I want this new thing, this easily accessible thing, this tasty but non-nutritious thing, even if it kills me! It's as though we all joined a Death Cult and have been brainwashed into wanting whatever will destroy us the fastest. It's as though we're all in hyper drive acceleration toward entropy and anything that isn't is just too boring and passé to interest us. Anyway, requiem for a dead species aside, how you've created the town of Mountain Shadow, with ideological diversity, tension, and cooperation between groups with strongly held ideologies, biases and suspicions illustrates not only the root of human conflict, but also the foundation of humanity's existence. Ideologically, people need the tension that causes group niches for cultural identities to coalesce and remain cohesive during difficult times. People don't cooperate without bonds of trust and they don't bond without intimate commonalities. What you've done with the Gabriel and Fiona characters shows the ideological tension that keeps them from merging and unifying, but also the intimate, secret connection, that almost forces them to cooperate against their will. Yah, this is what makes the interactions of people interesting, but we innately find these encounters interesting, because it's such a major part of human nature. I bet you never intended to go so deep on the anthropology and social psychology angles when you wrote your novel! The behaviors are so much a part of who you are as a human being that you express them without having to think about it. However, we need to think about what has made us and has been keeping us human, because in this dystopian time, the one-size techno-pill solution for all that ails everyone in the whole world is actually destroying us biologically and psychologically. Meanwhile, we all just try to adapt to increasingly dystopian systems of micro-control that reaches right into our homes with SMART devices, our DNA with gene editing and into our minds with neural networking and quantum dot biosensors. We need to question if we SHOULD adapt to this trend, but censorship prevents us from debating important questions. We need to steer our societies away from bad choices, but there really is no democratic process that would gather the votes of ordinary people and then legislate according to the will of people. We can't even stop walking down the path that we don't want to tread and we don't know what mechanism is forcing us all to go where we don't want to go. In a hundred years, what you are now able to conceive of spontaneously, future generations will not even be capable of imagining. That's not a prediction. It's an assessment of the present, based upon thorough study of the past. Time is a river. History does not repeat the novel, beautiful events that come and go, never to be witnessed again. YOU will never be alive again and all your experiences will never be experienced in the same way by anyone else ever again. While Moms and Dads are made every day, YOU will never get a replacement for YOURS. You see, the things that make life unique, human and memorable are lost in the river of time. Mankind has done a very poor job of chronicling and preserving past technologies, like moving megaliths, or finding healing herbs too. History emphasizes the recording of wars, war technology, the members of the ruling class and the blanketing empires that deliberately weed out the diversity of conquered territories and while these events smash the memories of those who die trying to defend their lives and ways of life, history doesn't keep honest records of the losses of the vanquished. Archaeology exhumes them dusty and broken at best. There is, at present, great interest in the Lost Civilizations of mankind and a deep, widespread desire to resurrect cultural histories that have not been faithfully recorded, but through archaeology, have been affirmed to have existed. There's something in the modern psyche that is reminding people that we've forgotten more than we have remembered. And, over the past couple year, there is also a trend toward examining the trajectory of human civilization and consciously choosing to look for alternatives that are less technologically-focused and more likely to resurrect ideas and priorities from the past. In fact, Aether Witch, with witches, churches and fortune telling is doing that - recollecting the ideologies of the Medieval past - and also illustrating that humans will behave like humans in all circumstances, whether we're aware of what compels us or not. I think you've proven that many of us are looking back nostalgically, and are concerned that the future is not friendly toward the very things that make life worth living for every human and even every animal. We're all here to learn from experiences and become the best we can be individually and collectively. And the best of us want to help fellow beings achieve their full potential too. We're here to thwart the effects of entropy, not accelerate them with progressive, but deadly, fun but frivolous trends that can't be opted out of. That's the really big deal. The option to go back and to reject what others want for their present and future has been robbed from most of us. We're effectively made dead and yet are forced to be automatons for others to manipulate. Yah, that's dystopian. Maybe you can create a new fiction novel from that perspective of reality. :)

I enjoyed listening to this book. The story had just the right amount of tension without being overwhelming. The main protagonists on the side of good are beings you can relate to even if they do possess para normal skills and abilities. The romantic interest is also there but restrained. It will be interesting to see how it evolves in future stories.

I really enjoyed this. Then I found out you also do dystopian. Imagine how happy I was to begin reading through a new to me authors books. Woot!
Oh, that's wonderful to hear! I don't get a ton of crossover between my paranormal and dystopian readers, so I'm delighted to hear you like both!
@@TarahBennerAuthor I love the genre. And I'm currently writing some of my own. At some point I might even read mine. But of course we shall see. In the meantime I'm always looking for yours I have loved Mountain Shadow and I already wish I could move there but I know it's in your head, and not quite a real place
This was a good read, I thought you had some good insights- I also enjoyed you end note comments
Thanks Don! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for your writings. This was a beautiful story and very well written. Love the way you used Rose with her Bible and spells to work together. Just would have liked to know which brother she would have wound up with. Lol
Thanks again a faithful reader.

WOW. This was so so good. Thank you
You are so welcome!!!
Enjoyable! Loved
So happy you enjoyed it!
Awesome book 😊
I enjoyed listening to this book. The story had just the right amount of tension without being overwhelming. The main protagonists on the side of good are beings you can relate to even if they do possess para normal skills and abilities. The romantic interest is also there but restrained. It will be interesting to see how it evolves in future stories.
I'm so happy you liked it!
