What a brilliant way to give the song a new enlightening. You've taken me back when this film and this song first appeared. My sincere congratulations for a work so well done. And, if you let me say it, you got such a good vibe and groove at the ending that you should work for our listening pleasure. Thanks for sharing your great work with us :o)
Sublime remix of this beautiful song. Thank you so much. Always one of my favourites and I think it was Donna's last heavy breathing put to vinyl sadly. It reached no 5 in the UK charts back in August '77 & was her first single on Casablanca. It often gets forgotten because it was only released on 'the Deep' soundtrack & not on a Donna album as such. There's an instrumental & a beautiful slow version on that album as well so made it worth getting. It was extended to use as a B-Side of the 12" of 'I Feel Love', which was still topping the charts here, so it could get noticed in the discos. Both tracks were in the top 5 at the same time so made sense. A new Donna track back then was a real buzz though & a genuine event. Her voice is so distinctive everyone knew her vocal sound. She was a massive star & hasn't been recognised properly in the history halls of music fame in my opinion. It's a sin there hasn't been a biopic made by now of her life cos she really had a very interesting story. Can you imagine the soundtrack? That would be awesome!! It was so sad that day we heard the news about her passing. It still saddens me. RIP Donna x
YEP....1977!!!!!!! WE stood in line four hours!!!!! for Star Wars.......then, next day.....four hours!!!! for The Deep. Amazing summer when I was 13!!!!!!!
I never stood four hours for any movie & they had to drag me to original SW because I had never seen a real good space movie before then. It was ok but I really liked TESB much better. Took everyone I knew to go see it.
I remember starting to walk out of the theatre at the end of this movie when this song started playing and stopping dead on my tracks saying to myself, I recognise that voice then turning around and sitting through the credits enjoying every note of it and loving it.
Yep! and once I got home Jacqueline Bisset's breasts were totally obliterated by the memory of this song... it became an obsession - since most (if not all ) Donna Summer's compilations never covered this theme - first movie soundtrack ever bought... thanks to whoever uploaded this
Kudos to you for this mix, Great. Donna Summer remains in my top 10 favorites ever. The rest being Sir Elton, Babs, Linda Ronstadt, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Cheryl Crow, Michael and Janet Jackson.
The Blu-ray of the movie does not play Donna's version at all. John Barry's orchestra plays a melancholy instrumental over the ending credits. I don't know whether Donna's singing was heard in theatrical releases, or on DVD or videocassette.
JUST GO TO UA-cam. THAT'S HOW HOW I FOUND IT. REMINDS ME OF THE WHITE RABBIT DISCO. MY GIRLFRIEND NOW MY WIFE WOULD GO THERE. HAD SO MUCH FUN. THEN HIT EITHER TACO BELL, OR WHATABURGER. GREAT SWEET MEMORIES. OH BEFORE HER, I MET ALL KINDA CHICKS THERE. ESPECIALLY OLDER WOMEN. THANKS UA-cam FOR THESE AWESOME MEMORIES

+SuperHugobox YES, THIS SONG IS SUCH A JOY TO LISTEN TO IT...great memories from that time in my life...
Tell me about it, I lived for the night life, it was great until cocaine ruined everything .lol
Me too since Theme From The Deep brings back pleasant memories of living in Panama near the canal on the Pacific side of the isthmus.
