    This is the first video I've seen that addresses the fact that the gmt hand sometimes doesn't match the hour marker perfectly. I own the black version of this very watch and I really love it. But that particular issue and the fact that I can get very obsessive about this details is the only downside I find to this watch. I find your method of fixing it pretty simple and easy to reproduce. What I do to fix it is first of all set the 12 hour hand and then I set the gmt hand slightly half an interval after the hour marker I want. What I mean by interval is that there are 5 minute markers, or intervals, between each hour marker. After that I leave the watch be and by the time it hits the next hour, both hands are usually perfectly centered. The only downside to this is that I have to do it exactly at nn:00 for it to work. In that way, your method is better.

      I appreciate that! I think I might make a separate video on this, just for people to refer back to specifically. I'm a little surprised that no one else has mentioned this to be honest

    I have the "Batman" version of this watch, with teal blue and black colored bezel. It's a very nice watch, and looks very good in reality (not just the photos). The video mentions a silver colored spacer under the bezel at the 5:25 minute point. Looking at mine under a jeweler's loupe, what appears to be a spacer is really part of the bezel. The bezel/spacer is all one piece and looks to be entirely made of aluminum. The numbers on the bezel are either painted on it, or anodized on the surface. The numbers on the bezel are not an aluminum insert. Again, it's all one piece. Would've liked a stainless steel bezel with aluminum insert. Can't really complain at the price point, however.
    The bezel rotates fairly easily, but has enough friction to keep it in place when lightly touched. Would've liked a bit more friction on the rotation.
    The second hand lands on all the minute marks. The minute, hour, and GMT hands coincide correctly at twelve o'clock. The lume starts bright, but fades away within half an hour.
    The bracelet is nicely designed and well integrated with the watch body. The links are all solid. The deployant clasp interior has a brushed finish, which gives it a quality look. The bracelet is very easy to remove from the watch. The bracelet is fairly long to start with and would appear to fit a wrist size of around 8 - 8 1/2 inches. A bracelet pin remover is probably needed for resizing. It's not a hair puller and doesn't have sharp edges.
    Timex did a good job on this watch.

    Thanks for the show and tell. Don’t see myself getting a GMT at this time. With that said I’m a fan of mechanical watches and quartz one. Do wish Timex would improve the quality or allow us to add better crystals.

    I love how you reviewed a quartz gmt because no one really reviews one! Thank you so much for posting this. I am a big Certina fan and bought one when I was in Switzerland recently. I want another one but I want a GMT quartz and they have a couple models. Have you checked one out before? The Certina DS Podium GMT?

    Timex has a new quartz GMT that I’m thinking of making my daily driver. The Deepwater GMT, which has all the upside of what you outlined, plus better water resistance and (IMO) better band. I like timing things with the countdown bezel and the click sounds. Great video! Keep it up.

    Great review, I just bought the blacked out version. I had been looking for an affordable GMT to add to my watch collection for months and recently saw this one and decided to pull the trigger. It's gonna be my first GMT, I can't wait for it to get delivered so I can immediately give it some wrist time. I'm glad I found your review with the heads up on the GMT hand and how to set it so I don't think I have a defective watch when I start using it.

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! This piece is definitely a vintage charmer 👍 The GMT hand issue is pretty common with the Rhonda movement, I'm surprised more videos don't talk about this actually. I might have to do a separate video on it 😎

    • @jimmyzamora97

      I definitely think you should do a separate video on it, there are barely any detailed videos on this timex q gmt and none that I found that explained how to set the gmt so that it aligns perfectly the way you did. I just received my Q GMT and had your video playing so I can follow along step by step, thanks again man🫡

    Something interesting happened to the quick release end link on the bracelet of my Q GMT. I was looking at the bracelet and noticed the quick release "tab" extension on the spring bar was missing. This is the part that is pushed (with thumbnail, for example) to enable the removal of the bracelet from the watch case.
    I thought it might have sheared off, in which case I was very disappointed with this bracelet design. However, on my desk I saw a small shiny object, which was the tab. Looking at it under a magnifying lens I saw that it had screw threads. So, this was screwed into the spring bar-- a "micro" screw, but with no slot for a jewelers screwdriver.
    Looking at the spring bar under a magnifying lens, saw the threads which the tab screwed into. Without a slot for a screwdriver, I used jewelers needle nose pliers and carefully screwed the tab back into the spring bar. This took some patience to align the tab straight into the spring bar threads and to screw it in with the pliers.
    Overall, this was a "wow" moment. So this is how the thumbnail tab is attached to the spring bar on quick release spring bars? I think I prefer the spring bar design that needs a spring bar tool for removal.

    So -- here's how GMT watches should ALL work. The GMT function is important because it reports actual GMT. Seems obvious, but here's the problem with watches like this, that move the GMT hand when you set the time (hour hand) to another time zone: GMT -- Greenwich Mean Time, or Universal Coordinated Time, itself doesn't change! Ever. That's the point of it. GMT watches should ALWAYS keep the GMT hand correct -- because GMT is a standard time that doesn't ever change, and it provides a world standard time for things like aviation, shipping or scientific pursuits. So -- GMT watches should allow the hour hand to be changed independently while maintaining the GMT hand unchanged! Then -- set the bezel to a third time zone. Example: Set GMT, referenced to dial. Right now it's 1728, so GMT hand points just before the 9:00 position -- which in 24-hour-speak is almost 1800. Leave home, Central time 1128. Set the 24-hour bezel where GMT hand is pointing to just before 1200. Now get on a plane and fly to Tokyo. When you get there, you still have GMT and home time unchanged, indicated by the GMT hand. Now set Tokyo time on the dial with the hour hand. GMT set is not changed, so you still know what time it is in GMT and at home! This is how all GMTs should be set up. Otherwise, when you set Tokyo time on the hour hand, the GMT moves also, which is BAD. Bottom line, all GMTs should easily indicate THREE time zones -- via the 24-hour GMT hand, the 24-hour bezel (that's why it's moveable!) and the handset.

    What, I'm going to have to try that tip about setting the GMT hand. i think my Phoibos watch (Eagle Ray GMT) has the same, or at least similar, Ronda quartz movement where the GMT hand is slow to engage.
    It triggers my OCD tendencies to see it off, so once I finally got it lined up perfectly, I haven't wanted to touch it again since it would likely take me another 5+ tries to get it perfectly aligned again.

    • @WatchReviewRewind
      @WatchReviewRewind  Місяць тому +1

      Definitely try it out! I have the same OCD with the GMT hand which is exactly how I figured this out in the first place lol

      @woodstock480 Місяць тому

      @WatchReviewRewind Yeah, when we changed from Daylight Savings last month, I literally tried at least 3-4 times until the GMT hand was close enough to aligned on the hour.

    I went with the Davosa quartz GMT on a jubilee. It's a nice watch but overpriced by about 25%. I went with the Davosa over this because I wanted a watch with a Jubilee bracelet. The Davosa has its faults (even worse lume than this, it's the same movement I think) but it's an option if you want a GMT quartz.
    This watch is really nice though as well.

    • @WatchReviewRewind
      @WatchReviewRewind  7 місяців тому

      I actually almost pulled the trigger on the Davosa while looking for a quartz GMT, but the smaller dimensions made a big difference for me in choosing the Timex

    • @travis3430
      @travis3430 7 місяців тому

      @@WatchReviewRewind I have a 6.25 inch wrist so I have to be careful with the dimensions when picking a watch. The Davosa is 12.6mm thick & 47mm I think lug to lug, 39mm diameter..fits me really well (& so would the Timex) . I think the Timex & the Davosa are good quartz options. The Timex has better indices & a better price imho 👍

    All the pictures on the Timex website indicate a pronounced faux-tina on the indices, but any video I've seen presents it as much whiter. Anyone have any ideas on this?
