I had the 1991 Avalanche in Daktari White shown at 10:20 on left page of the catalog. Best looking bike Ive ever had. GTs from this era are the best looking hardtails ever. They look fast standing still. And the awesome paint jobs!

Rad video! I was searching for Karakoram videos to inspire me to build my tequila sunrise and I came across this. I have an 83 rabbit 2 door so this was all things cool in my book!
Thank you for the nice compliment, GT really did an amazing job in this era almost independent of price point you could have really striking paint even if the components weren't the top of the line. Good luck with your GT build and hope you get carve some corners on your bike and the Rabbit this summer! Every generation thinks that they grew up in the best decade, regardless, I think the 70' to 90's were pretty damn good with the 80's being a strong contender for first place, 1991 was only a couple years after so its close enough in my book. I still have two boxes full of brochures similar to what is shown . I have a metallic pink 1995 Zaskar . Also a totally original 1994 Giant Yukon in black / blue , very good condition .. I have other rarities from this era . Even some 1970's and 1980's items .
Still have my 91 Karakoram that I bought new in 1991. Need to find a pair of original handel bar grips. It's fitted with pair of 1993 Rock Shox Mag 21 and a Girvin Flex stem .

Great video, had a 91 Karakoram BITD. Didn't come with splatter handlebars, must be a mod by a previous owner or someone scratched them up fitting and tried to cover.
I thought I would post a link to a video created for maple Ridge Cycle as well, they are one of the few shops that work on literally everything and while this shop may not have the most up to date interior, spotless work area or employees that wear shirts that match the building. They get your ride up and running and value you and your ride not just the financial transaction.

I try to have this philosophy with my clients .
The GT Zaskar is a 1993 and GT Avalanche LE looks to be a 1997 as it has the lower tube gusset, correct stickers and is 7005. 1998 was the only year they made a 6061 avalanche like the Zaskar. a 1999 would look different. so it can be a late 1996 but I really think its a 1997. i worked at a GT shop in the 90's and sold/built them. i have a 1999 Zaskar, 1998 avalanche LE,and a 92 ish Karakoram with ubrake painted the purple swirl and matching GT butt stem.

Thanks for the kind words, The Billy Bonkers are the widest available casing with which is 2.10, I will have to confirm but I believe that 2.25 will also work with satisfactory clearance, although each tire manufacturer is different. I think the CV7’s have concave braking surfaces from new, so maybe not as worn as you thought.

They definitely have a good selection of SE bikes, I have seen the odd vintage PK at the shop and they may have access to the reissues from one of their suppliers. Troy is at the shop today I called and asked him to respond to you when he has a chance, Cheers!
Just confirmed with Troy at MRC and they can get PK reissues in 29" similar to the SE's in the video, not sure what sort of stock is available, hope that helps
