Truly amazing ! I'm very interested in this and getting mine together, thank you very much your very informative and I appreciate what you do thanks again man.
I imagine the guys in italy sharing the brick pizza ovens guys. On fridays, you had to wait because everyone was trying to get a pie for the big soccer matches 😆
As a almost complete noob, I bought the Skutt Micro and it’s kind of like they did all the thinking for you. I’m also only making pipes and pendants and small stuff, so the micro has plenty of room for one person. Also, lampwork supply has them currently and built, and in upstate NY I got it within a week. Everywhere else had a 6 month wait time. Lampwork was also like 200 bucks less than anywhere else. I’m super happy with it so far
As long as you're happy with it, you're going to make great pieces with it! I also offer free classes on my website, you can check it out at www.revereglass.com
Paragon I think used to make a toaster kiln. I had a buddy that would fill the tiny little thing to the brim. Then fill up another one while the first cooled down. Shame they dont make it anymore. It wasn't practical, but I've never seen a kiln be used more effectively.
I need to get information on how and why we use a kiln i have a blue bird XL ive never had a kiln so don't understand how to use it do you have video on that subject?
I had a skutt scarab and a bluebird XL but I traded my scarab for a Herbie. makes the footprint of my setup so much smaller but Im definitely on the lookout for a skutt if I decide to start working big again
Is Aim still making kilns? I have an older taller 84BD and I need a replacement thermocouple. No one had posted anything on there FB page in 3 years, or has returned any of the message I've left..
What's your problem programming it? The ramp cycle or just temperatures and times. I usually do a 1500 ramp up to 1050. That means it will heat up at a rate of 1500° per hour until it hits 1050. Then I ramp down to 960 then 800. With varying times and rates based on thickness of work. You want an hour at 1050 per quarter inch. Then cooling down I really don't worry about it unless it's thicker than a half inch. You should always ramp down, but I've never had a problem not doing it for production. Ramp times are just temp per hour. You can set whatever setting you like with the arrows. It's very easy to use. What times and temps to use are a little more debatable.
Does anybody else get annoyed by this guy I just don't like how he smiles all the time and talks all soft super annoying not to mention he's really bad at teaching

I cannot imagine what the glass guys in the 1st generation had to innovate to keep the glass industry afloat in the first days...

Not to mention legal hurdles like operation pipe dreams
Yes! It's amazing how they managed to create beautiful glass pieces with limited resources. We owe it to them!
I laughed out loud with this haha!

i do love my Aim Kiln :)
Amazing right? :)
Consider the mic placement with a pendant around your neck, rather distracting. Other than that, great video.
I'll take this into consideration! Thanks :)
