I've been slowly making myself more productive by setting myself a task that I only need to do 5 minutes of per day. There are a few benefits to this: 1. Instead of being disgusted at the effort involved, you'll think "eh, it's just 5 minutes..." and do the task. 2. More often than not, the task won't only take 5 minutes. But by the time you've sat yourself down for 5 minutes, you're in the flow of whatever you're doing and you get more done than expected. 3. If you do something for 5 minutes but don't want to do more, that's still a success! You can be proud that you put in the effort to do something productive. Having a little pride in yourself goes a long way. 4. It builds a habit. Doing something every day will eventually make your brain consider that thing as a regular part of your life, and you're less likely to stop doing that thing once its become a habit. This can take a while, though.
Can confirm. Dishes are no longer my enemy. I actually have turned to them to feel better after a crushing day: "at least I can do this well" And yeah. I'm doubling down on your 'do 5 minutes' statement. I make it getting a certain amount done, rather than time. Eg: Fill in one full medical botany entry. Or empty half the dishwasher, but don't need to finish the top or load it. Same result though: I end up doing much more with no more effort, even knowing I'm allowed to stop. In reverse to STOP doing something, I say "I'll stop for TEN SECONDS. Then I can do it if I still really want to." Close the laptop and hit the wall...then just keep walking 9 times out of 10. What are some of your power plays on yourself, my guys? Good luck to all y'all.
So I do one video per morning as a way of 'framing' myself for the day ahead. I've started at the first one and I'm working my way to the latest clip. These videos provide positive reflection about being effective and optimistic for the day ahead. The message about forming good habits cannot be heard enough for me, and this comes through at just about every clip. The content is just the right length, not too long, not too short - a goldilocks length - relevant without being long-winded. Well done Joey.

I actually stumbled on this video by not being lazy, but rather taking a break from some productiye audio edting to give my ears a rest. I did end going down a rabbit-hole, and now I'm probably 10 videos deep. The cool thing though, is that every video has been educational which is not a bad trade off. So I guess if you're going to take a break, don't just do mindless stuff. Learn a little. 😁
I don't know man, I appreciate this video and what it aims to do but I feel like there's a correlation between young people and depression that isn't being considered when it comes to laziness, and labelling it as simple laziness could be harmful to some. Just my perspective.
I agree with what you. The increased depression within young people definitely contributes to the "laziness" But, the constant stimulations of dopamine could be causing the depressive feeling. And people could still benefit by seeking more uncomfortable things, as doing things and growing may alleviate some of the depression
It could be a feedback loop, they’re lazy, then that laziness causes a lack of progress, and their general deterioration, then they feel bad about themselves which makes them even lazier

What's good bro, I really think the content you post is dope. I work as a graphic designer for several youtubers and i help them take their youtube game to the next level in the way of designing advanced modern thumbnails using Photoshop Cs6. I've seen exponential growth with the youtubers i've worked with just by making their thumbnails stand out. Old people have free time, opportunity to rest. Young people do not have the opportunity to work, which can lead to laziness. Many young people do work, hard work that older generations can't physically accomplish. Opportunity *might* play a large factor in how tired they all are.
That's a fair point, actually. The study, which I failed to put in my description (it's there now) does, however, show that young people ages 15-24 are more tired at any given point during the day than seniors. Not only that, but middle aged people (who are likely working professionals) are also less tired than the 15-24 demographic. This, to me, eliminates the "being tired from work" variable, or things of that nature from being a primary factor in the fatigue levels of young people. You do, however, make a fair point as to why old people may be less tired, them having more opportunity to rest - so perhaps my comparison between young and old didn't contribute too much my main argument. On that note, my main argument is that young people are tired, which is the bottom line, and the study definitely supports this. My video is an attempt to offer a solution to that problem. I really appreciate your criticism of my argument though, as it helps me build stronger ones in the future. Thanks for watching!
You've come a very long way stylistically. The capital letters in the title, the animated intro, and the blue and grey background you stood in front of made me recoil in pain, no offense, but now you know how to make your videos eye-grabbing in a non cheap and lasting way.
