Can YOU Save ROME before it was GREAT!?

- Can YOU Save Rome, but in 500 BC? Well that's what I'm about to do as I'm playing the city of Rome before it was great or the Roman Empire.
Playing Rome in 500 BC is the TRUE Roman Experience and it's time to make this Kingdom into a blossoming Republic and quite possibly the ROMAN EMPIRE later.
I have formed Rome many times in HOI4 so it's time to focus on doing that in EU4!

"This ship count is utterly broken" - The Romans felt the same way when they saw them blocking the straits of Sicily
Carthage Great Navy
The early republic not being able to beat Carthago is completely accurate lol. Rome spent a long time building up a naval force and barely won the first Punic war, seizing Corsica with massive losses on both sides. Roman hegemony in the western mediterranean only started after the second Punic war.
Everything you said is true, but i think you confused Corsica with Sicily
@@nibiru2026 no they were on the other islands as well, rome didnt conquer sicily first of those islands iirc. maybe im confused wirh Sardinia
@@TheSuperappelflap rome first conquered sicily, that was literally where the first punic war was fought for, and also the reason for it, a dispute between the two powers over sicily, rome got sardinia and corsica after it because they took opportunity to seize them from carthage on the mercenary wars, the mercenary wars where a consequence of cartage losing the first punic war
Seeing Tommy playing more EU4 after all these years is oddly satisfying.
He finally realized that grinding through mountains with no supply during winter in hoi4 is not what any sane man would call fun
I love men

In case anyone wonders mod name is: Imperium Universalis. idk why is not on the desc.
Thank you. I was looking for that... Markoni has a bad habit of not including the mods in the description.
Thank you very much.
Absolutely fantastic mod, my only problem with it is that if you start at the earliest start date a lot of the time events like Alexander the Great and such won't have the chance to fire because Macedonia ends up getting eating by some other nations. I might need to just be more patient and let the campaign ride out longer tho
its stupid that they giving you debuff over your land. In eu4 you could purify debuffs but not here
Wait this isnt imperator lmao
as the dev who made most of the current content for rome, this video was great to watch! you would've had a better time against carthage if you utilized socii more in the run as they allow easy cheap expansion and if used properly will not rebel for a long time, and can help you overpower enemies. also seems like you didn't build up your cities much, or utilize slaves, which are both huge reasons carthage was seemingly unbeatable. not much of a reason to have 60k troops in italy, mostly a waste of money this early
What is the mod called?

@@wh6057Imperium Universalis I believe it’s called
unfortunately dommy is stupid and doesnt know how to make vassals happy (talking to them and giving them treats)
I don’t get why he starts raging so hard, he just took Sardinia way too early and that forced Carthage to attack him. He started the Punic wars like 50 years too early.
The most unrealistic part of this is the roman leader being a ginger, not very historically accurate
Edit: Respice hos barbaros dolorem suum minuentes, capillitium Augusti aurantiam vocantes. Vere modo cogitandi barbarico retrogrado.
Emperor Nero was a ginger, and a awful emperor.
And german
@@RichD1 wir wuz romanz und scheisse my brudda
Early Romans actually frequently had blonde or reddish hair, it was only after centuries of intermingling with people from other parts of the empire that they got a darker skin and hair tone. It is documented that in the late empire, women from wealthy families would buy wigs made from light hair of germanic women to cosplay having a pure bloodline. But whatever. Ginger joke funny hehe.
doesn't claudius literally mean "fire haired" or something
9:57 Last thing you hear before dying to an army of Romans led by a ginger man
When I saw the notification I thought he was playing Imperator Rome and got so fucking excited lol
Still gonna watch the vid tho
Hello, I recommend the Anbennar mod, it is a total conversion of the game into a classic fantasy world of dwarves, dragons, kobols, orcs, with a magic and artificer system and much more.
Its quiet frustrating to watch tommy play eu4.
I love the fact that the editor didn’t put EU4 as the game he’s playing, but rather just Europa universalis from 2000
21:48 actual quote from roman senator watching hannibal cross the alps
this entire video is just like watching a live roman reaction play by play lmao
WOW, I want to see more of this series Tommy!^^
I kinda hope Tommy transitions to doing more stuff like this on the main channel, its just so much more interesting to watch him struggle and learn than it is to see him play the same kinda shit over and over which ultimately results in people hard focusing him.
Tommy happy birthday!! May your wishes come true god bless and stay healthy!
Tommy starts playing EU4: This game is so cool, I love it!
Tommy after playing EU4: This game is dog shit!
I am loving the Eu4 videos that tommy is making.
"This streamer never gives up.... well, maybe some times"... best moment in the video, to combat a problem, the first necessary step is recognizing you have a problem. That is real progress Tommy :D
Oh c'mon next abomination. Have fun watching :D
You know you could have played Imperator Rome… poor neglected and mistreaten game.
i was thinking the same brother!
I think this mod is better tbh, and thats from an IR lover. Eu4 is just a better base game imo
@@fumeshroomzEU4 has also been around for longer so it's got more content

Man I’m telling you, if you enjoy this, you’ll absolutely enjoy Imperator Rome. Tons of challenging nations. Invictus mod is a must
i am glad that he is playing eu4, but where the imperator rome? imperator rome is such a gem now
Damn, I see Imperator Rome is actually really good now
I love tommy, I love eu4, I am edging rn 🤫☺️
This is what imperator rome should have been
get tommy to try anbennar, he'd love that so much tbh
He still seems to not use diplomacy to make better relations and etc, even more with a mod like that where turn eu4 not just a paint the map thing, diplomacy is really important
Never thought I'd see TommyKay become an Eu4 UA-camr... times are changing...

I think I am getting to strong, I am probbaly the best EU4 player ever. Ahh Tommy we've all been there dunking on smalls, then the HRE declares war on you and you find out about coalitions. Despair ensues
Also if you don't want them to teleport maybe reduce to 3 speed at war :D
Glad to see you having fun though!
how many videos recently is just Tommy get mad at late game and then quitting lol
ps. I love Tommy
nice game of imperator Rome
Tommy should try imperator Rome with the Invicta mod
Could even imagine what would happen in Elder ring...
chat telling tommy to pick maritime kek
My favorite Roman figure is TommyKay (Goblin).
Tommy not taking the institutions makes being modern with technology WAY to expensive for example carthage had 1 morale more than u😅
I would kill to see Tommy play Anbennar
Rome never surrenders!!!
I think you should play imperator rome the game is so good right now especially with the invictus mod
Imagine the Roman’s watching this German in rome real history over and over again
I'd say the reason of fall was that our mod is still WIP, and particulary early event wars for Rome should be less harsh in future, and we will eventually fix them, but for now they were not.Same with socii being not helpfull. Apologise for that.
Other then that - ideas pick order, probably? Maritime really pays out only AFTER Carthage is dead and your've eaten mare internum. I'd take infantry/admin or infantry/imperial or something? And then probably leadership, not logistics. And would not take anything in Sardinia too early :D
With inf+leadership your quality could wreck Carthage armies in Sicily wars. And then you will need somehow either take expansion for a few years and colonize a prov in africa near Carthage to land troops BEFORE war, to overhelm it on land, or if they have unkilled nation in africa - kill it, to secure a landing. Other then that, apart from having a fleet decent enough to HOLD Carthage fleets in suicide battle, while your transports land a legion in other part of sea, that then will then hire ton of mercs when it will land, I doubt there is away to fight Carthage without taking naval ideas and going full heavy ships.
Second mistake - probably not using mercs and citizen troops (banners) enough at easrl game? They can be really usefull, as mercs have no hire cost in mod, only upkeep, and are perfect at conserving manpower, and citizen units have +quality and -upkeep.
What mod is it
@@jiffery5269Imperium Universalis I think
600 ships would piss me off too
Bro play imperator
Tommy tries to take Carthage, an ancient Major Power, as Rome at a time when it was still a minor player in the Mediterranean, gets mad when he can't defeat Carthage. Tommy might be too impatient to learn more than broad strokes of history these days. But it's still nice to see him learn.
Looks like all the mechanics of the mod are from Imperator: Rome...
isn't it from a common sense and udnerstanding of antiquity?
the mod was made years before imperator
Imperator Rome was created for this bruh
Vasalazing as rome after getting big enough is also historical. The conquered lands werent directly controlled by rome at first but by rome's allies.
Tommy wearing a toga makes me edge

Yes
Watching Tommy getting just as mad as I do at eu4’s bullshit is very validating
