Amazing woodworking. Bow and arrow.

- I made this bow and arrow and bowstring for the first time in my Wood Design workshop. This is my first experience, I am not a professional bow-maker This bow is 1.7 m (67 in) long and 80 cm (31 in) arrows. . The wood was made from ash and walnut wood that was cut into lamellas with a Metabo circular saw. The lamellas were 8mm (0.31 inches) thick. The end of the bow was carved with a Japanese knife so that the shoulders taper in width and to a lesser extent in depth towards the edge. The middle section of the bow is 48 cm (19 inches) long.
The bowstring was made of thread and it took 28 polyester thread rings. This bowstring is called endless.
The arrows were made of pine and were 80cm long. And a cutout was made for laying the bowstring. Plumage with stork tail feathers lifted from the ground (no one was hurt in the making of this video). The feather was divided in half and cut into 2 parts, then using glue they were attached to the arrows at a distance of 120 degrees. The boom head was made from air compressor accessories.
Conclusion, in this video for making a bow, we had to make a lot of devices without which it is impossible to make a bow. For the bow string we also had to make a device, as well as for the thread. This is of course a primitive device, but they work. This. bow and arrow was made for content and was destroyed after filming.

I like your work. You belt a Left handed bow, and shooting it right handed. For a right handed bow the window should be in the left side. You see, as you put the three fingers of your right hand behind the string, and pull back the slight rotation of the string in you fingers. And then when you let go, the string rolls pushing the arrow to the right. With you bow, that pushing would push it right, off the arrow rest.
A great work. Result in a fine bow and arrow perfectly done. Thanks for sharing on UA-cam.
For me, this is a wonderful demonstration by a HIGHLY skilled, resourceful woodworker who said to himself something like, "Building a take-down recurve bow isn't rocket science. I can do this." And so you did. VERY nicely. Will experienced bowyers find fault with elements of your process? Of course, perhaps starting with the use of "white glue" instead of epoxy. But they will be missing the point. Watching an experienced craftsman like you use his mind, hands, and all the right woodworking tools is pure joy. I'll never get tired of doing so. THANK YOU.
Yes you are right 100%. And thanks for your understanding.
Sehr sehr geil. Holz ist ein wunderbarer Werkstoff. Vielen Dak. Sehr interessant. Toll, das es noch solche Handwerker gibt.
Vielen Dank fürs Zuschauen
Tradesman, craftsmen at this level are very few and far between. A pleasure to watch you work
Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed to watch you work, but the most I like your way to make a string, just perfect!
Thanks for watching.

A decent first bow. Woodworking was good, and finished bow looks good. There are however quite a few technical errors both to the bow and arrow from an archery perspective.
1. When cutting an arrow shelf into the riser, the cut out section should point towards the hand that is holding it (unless a rare case of eye dominance crossover). This bow is for a left handed shooter and is best held in the right hand.
2. The bow will shoot better if the limbs are tillered. This is essential for a straight shooting bow.
3. The arrow was not the correct thickness, weight, length or "spine-stiffness" for the bows poundage.
4. The feathers used for the arrow must be from the same side of the wing on a bird. Also, only the top portion of the feather should be used, to ensure the feathers all curve the same way and make the arrow spin correctly.
5. An arrow rest will help with the arrow "jumping" off the shelf whilst shooting. It will make the arrow straighten up faster and halp greatly with precision.
Other than that, I like the rotating bowstring jig. Never seen that one before. Clever!
As i pointed out wrong side for a right hand shooter and feathers need the proper angle on the shaft to spin correctly. But he did a good job
@giles 4800 Thanks for watching. 👍👍👍
Very creative jigs and excellent workmanship. I found it interesting that you could bend the wood without moistening it.
Another thought from the archer's perspective: Usually (if not always) the archer would wrap their 3 longest fingers around the string at the first finger joint in order to pull it back, with the arrow end between the index and middle finger. It's much easier to hold while aiming, and no doubt helps with accuracy.
My uncle was an excellent archer and bow hunter, who also made his own bows.
How different we all are. I never destroy anything that I make. Thanks for an excellent video!
I'm not famous for appreciation of laminate bows, but that was fucking beautiful man. Well done. Subbed.
I must say that was awesome. Now I'm tempted.
Thanks for watching.

Excellent comme d'habitude . J'adore !!!!!!!
Merci d'avoir regardé.
@@WOODDESIGN6730 J adore votre style et votre taf . je regarde toutes vos vidéos !!!!
Belo trabalho. 👏
So brilliant and i love the music too.
Nice work!
The bow you made is left handed. If you will shoot like you did, the sight window of the recurve bow should be on the opposite side of the riser.
Thanks for watching.
Not if you use the ancient technique like the Osmans, Mongols, Magyars and even medival knights
@@blackz9058 The bow model here is not ancient, it is a modern recurve bow.
Perfektní!!!
I am always learning new techniques from you - thank you for the skills you share and teach to the global woodworking community! Your craft goes further and further with every “student” you have on UA-cam! God bless!
Thanks, and you too.
Good job !🤠

Quisiera agregar algo.
Muchas gracias. Estos son fresno y nuez.
awwwwweeesooome ! Thanks for shring this. I learned so much from it.

Onde posso comprar madeira Ash aqui no Brasil?
Excelent work!!!!
Thanks for watching.
That’s very nice 👍

Great work. Think you for that. Greets from germany, Villa Petersberg

I should be preparing sinew to back a bow, but I'm trapped in the rabbit hole of bow videos.
very cool, the arrowhead is a bit heavy when the arrow is shot, the tail is shaken
arrow shelf on the wrong side of the bow, but I liked some of the ideas here
Desainnya sangat bagus sekali,👍👍👍
Terima kasih untuk menonton Anda.
Excelente trabajo , te felicito , me puedes decor que madera has usado , gracias

Muito bom o acabamento do arco...parabéns.
Sweet.
A first attempt at making a bow & arrow by someone who does not use one! How utterly amazing is that!!! It shows just what a skilled craftsman you are my friend & to even make your own jigs is mind blowing. It is a beautifully constructed piece & you deserve all the accolades that come your way. Beautiful clear video leaves no doubt as to your so highly developed skills, & to then discover that it was destroyed at the end is totally amazing. Why did you not put it up for sale? There would have been a veritable 'stampede' of people wanting it. Perhaps that was the reason for the destruction. Still, it was a joy to watch the 'build' & thank you for sharing it. Don from South Aust.
Very easy, it can be done much easier, happy holidays
The person at the end of the video is right-handedly shooting a left-handed bow. Also, there is no arrow rest installed, which will kick the arrow all over the place ;^)
