It would be sensible to report the address to online scam addresses and the authorities of your country if you are happy to. I doubt you would see your money back, but it is worth seeing if they can be stopped from future scams.
Yup, the OneDrive solution at 2:49 is what worked for my dad's HP laptop when he randomly got locked out, never having set up BitLocker. What a stupid bug, but thank you for helping me save his PC on father's day. I'm the hero :P

I was just excited to continue watching an anime o started and was so annoyed and upset and even more so because I felt clueless and could do nothing about it. I followed the instructions countless times, the key was not on my Microsoft account. I was about to just reset everything when I decided to watch a video from the video section on Google. I found this. And I got the key. I felt like crying because I thought I would lose my information so it may sound like a bit if a drag but with all my heart, I thank you. I'm happy again.
Sorry to hear that Ariba. It is possible the only copy of your key was saved to the drive itself, and therefore is not accessible. If you definitely haven't changed anything (new hardware, or Windows installation/upgrade), then I'm afraid, I don't believe there is any reasonable way to recover your data. If however anything has been changed, you may find that reverting the change will make the original method of authentication work again. Sorry the video wasn't able to help on this occasion.

Rajasekhar Nakka I was super lucky, I tried everything that I can find on UA-cam, still wouldn’t work. So I kept doing turn off and restart, and i was able to get in! Just like a regular sign in, then the first thing I did is to turn off the bitlocker!

When I got this pc I wanted to download music and idk what happened but this very weird sound came on and a notification popped saying about a virus I think. So I created a new account but I don't remember the old account password so there is no way for me to run it as administrator so what do I do?

Managing an IT team myself, I know it's sometimes easy to forget to step back and see the bigger picture for a quicker resolution. Glad the video helped you before spending any money! Fingers crossed the agent was just having a bad day.
This happens all the time on my work laptop. It usually occurs when I try to boot up my computer when the battery is completely empty and I have just plugged it in to the charger and boot it up. Often, I find, that it will boot normally if I unplug the charger, hold the power button down for 10 seconds or more, then plug it back in to the charger, and boot up. I'm not saying that this always works, but it works often.
Someone just called me today, for exactly that issue. He has no idea where the key is, of if there was a key like that in the first place. I didn't sugarcoat it for him, I told him, I'll probably have to reinstall windows.

Now my PC crashed and I'm trying to reset to factory settings, it keeps asking me for the stupid recovery key, I have no idea what it is. I guess it was linked to another onedrive which I didn't create. Any way around this without me having to go back to samsclub?

The problem for me was that i didn't save the recovery key anywhere, and why the hell give people such a long recovery key to remember, after you've already typed in an uncrackable password!
So, what i learned from using bitlocker was whilst putting the computer into sleep mode, bitlocker only asked for your password.. But when i shut the computer down fully, so when i turned it back on, bitlocker is now asking for both password, and recovery key 🗝 🤦♂️

The problem comes when someone you have to support says they never turned BL on (so of course don't have the key) and say they have never used the Microsoft website and don't have an account there.

Hi Flash, if you saved it there, or to a shared area, such as OneDrive, or Active Directory (in the case of a domain), yes. By default (and for security) your key is not shared with any other devices.

Today she had a big update and a bitlocker key prompt popped up. So she logged in to the microsoft account, unfortunately the key is not there. The laptop has been new and has always been on one account from the very beginning, but for what reasons this key did not go there, have no idea. Anyway, I don't have access to windows so I tried the system recovery option in which you can run the command line. When I found your video, I thought I was saved. Unfortunately ... it works but doesn't work ;-( after entering the command i get, "TPM: ID: {and here is a long combination of numbers and letters} PCR Validation Profile: 7, 11 and below i have Numericla Password: ID: {and here is again a long combination of numbers and letters} but i can't see any password. My daughter has all the data from the university in her laptop. We did not even know that there is such a thing as bitlocker, especially that it is turned on because we do not need it at all. Now I have no idea what to do. I've wasted a day and there seems to be nothing I can do. I would be grateful for any hint, although I realize that the chances are less than small. Hi there. I know we have 2022 so It's been a while but I'm facing the subject right now. A year ago, my daughter bought a laptop that she uses at the university. Today she had a big update and a bitlocker key prompt popped up. So she logged in to the microsoft account, unfortunately the key is not there. The laptop has been new and has always been on one account from the very beginning, but for what reasons this key did not go there, have no idea. Anyway, I don't have access to windows so I tried the system recovery option in which you can run the command line. When I found your video, I thought I was saved. Unfortunately ... it works but doesn't work ;-( after entering the command i get, "TPM: ID: {and here is a long combination of numbers and letters} PCR Validation Profile: 7, 11 and below i have Numericla Password: ID: {and here is again a long combination of numbers and letters} but i can't see any password. My daughter has all the data from the university in her laptop. We did not even know that there is such a thing as bitlocker, especially that it is turned on because we do not need it at all. Now I have no idea what to do. I've wasted a day and there seems to be nothing I can do. I would be grateful for any hint, although I realize that the chances are less than small. No problem at all Alex. I'm always open to suggestions on video ideas. I've always promised myself to avoid doing videos for the sake of it (you're never going to see me vlogging here!). I usually drip feed videos out when I do something for myself or to help someone else, that I realise maybe good to share... let me know if there's anything technology related that would be helpful and I'll bear it in mind.

Please, *OH, PLEASE!* Tell me, that the instructions in this video, *aren't exclusively* for *Windows 10!* And that the *beleaguered, users of Windows 7,* who are *locked out of their HDDs,* can use this process to *recover their Bitlocker Keys, as well!*

i keep getting the parameter is incorrect. i have lenovi miix 2.8 tablet and it suddenly locked on me. trying to recover from my laptop doesnt help because it says i have 0 bitlocker keys.
