"The Stroll" at the SW Florida USA Dance June 4, 2023

We recreate the Stroll from American Bandstand in the 1950s. John and Penny DeFino taught the Stroll for the monthly dance sponsored by the Southwest Florida chapter of USA Dance. Music is "The Stroll" by the Diamonds 1957. The dance was also featured in American Graffiti and Grease.

I graduated HS in 1970 and at my 20-year reunion in 1990, we did The Stroll. The Class of '70 was in Kindergarten when the teens on American Bandstand did The Stroll. Still a fun dance in 2023.

The Stroll hit #4 on the pop chart (#5 R&B) in early-1958 after its Dec. 1957 release, by The Diamonds, who hit bigger with their #2 smash "Little Darlin' after its Feb. 1957 release. The dances in the late-'50s to mid-'60s were the best ever created for teens, pre-teens and some young adults! Miss those halcyon days, especially 1956-Nov. 21, 1963.

Well.I was 10 years old,with a sister,who was 15,I know all the songs and dances,from,the 50s,and even the 40s,75 now,just saw my 80, year old sister,yesterday!
