Painting rocky hills with the yellow, red and blue it is surprisingly very realistic, didn't expect that!

Comment for the algorithm! Seriously, great job. I am getting into Full Spectrum Dominance at 6mm with my dad, and I've never done anything that small. Luckily, the scale model and model train enthusiasts have plenty of techniques to share for me online!

I like to save small craggy off cuts of XPS foam from 28mm terrain projects and glue them to plasticard for 6mm hills and bluffs. Then I build around them with similar materials you use here.

Nice! Yeah, XPS would be perfect for this

They look great. For sticking terrain, I often use a cartridge of cheap “no nails” adhesive. It’s pretty thick, so as well as using it to stick down the rocky outcrop, you can gap fill and also use it to stick down the rubble along the bottom at the same time.

You can use those same pipe cleaners to make Italian Cypress trees. Just make sure the pipe cleaner fur points upwards. If you massage PVA glue into them you can also get more sparse trees.

Painting models for 25 years and have never seen rocks so alive. Normally they are dry brushed grey/white and then worked up with washes.
I looked at your method and shook my head until my jaw dropped at the end result.
    Enviable 😍

Cheers, Andy! I'd love to be able to claim 'authorship', but it's a technique pinched from model railway guys. Super pleased you've found it rough! :D

Stick your tree trunks through the hole on a hacksaw blade, then use a lighter to burn off the foliage. Faster and looks better. Use the lighter to give the trees less of a Christmas tree. Burn some off the top to represent a tree that broke off in the wind.

Tiny trees for the eldar to hide in while they stalk the space skeletons. Great work, the leopard spot cliffs are interesting, I'll try it next time I do rocks.

      Sneaky sneaky elves 😁
Definitely give the leopard spotting a go - just make sure it’s plaster rocks you work on, I don’t think other materials work quite as well.

For bonding different surfaces together, a two part epoxy is probably good (especially if you score or file the two surfaces to key them beforehand). In the US we have a product called E600 that I use when combining two different materials, especially plastic

Yeah, I thought 2-part glue might be the one for a job like this. I have a pair of ancient tubes somewhere in the flat, but maybe time to pick some more up next time I'm in the hardware shop!

if you plastic the edge part is faster with a power sander

Very handy video. I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I've been meaning to make some small-scale terrain for a while now. These seem like just the job!

For trees give a look at model railway, scale N is 1/150 in UK/Japan and 1/160 else where. Or for smaller scale Z 1/200

I spotted some of those on my internet trawl! Might do a little trip to the model shop near us soon to see what they have in store :D

Please tell me they are bringing back epic scale 40k

    • @GRGMiniatures
      @GRGMiniatures  Рік тому +1

Alas, it looks like epic scale 30k. I was really hoping for some official tiny elves, but hey, them not releasing that might actually motivate me to work on my fan game a bit....
