Would you love a pot of white beans (or pinto) by suppertime but didn't plan the night before to soak the beans? Here's the answer. Let us know what you think. Do ya'll eat white beans? How do you prepare them? Thanks for visiting our home today.
We use that same pot, in the ground, overnight cook. A little tip I learned from an "old timer", 30+ years ago, when par boiling, the beans are ready for spices/add ins when the skins crack when you blow on them. Works every time. Was Truly refreshing to see somebody do "homemade" beans from scratch! NOT DOCTORER UP CANNED BEANS any fool can open a can. Great job! Boiling them briefly in the morning, when you forget to soak'em the night before, is a good trick to know. I've had to do that once or twice or a dozen times before. (forgetful me)😊 TYFS, Mark and Rosa
@@HeritageWaysKatie Yes it does. Even differences South and North, geographically are similar, just differences seasonally, when it's done and why. Not that it's "right" or "wrong". 😊 Do you can dry beans, and if so, soaked or dry method? I quickly looked down through your video's and didn't see any. Thanks again Katie. 😊
Amazing tutorial. Thank you so much. We eat white bean soup almost bi weekly and my mom usually soaks em up overnight. Today I wanted to make a recipe and didnt wanna wait overnight. This is great. Also black salt we dont have em around here, I mean I never heard of em. Maybe I will look around.
Deidre Maston I do apologize that I’m just now seeing this comment. I don’t know why that is but thank you so much for watching and I sure hope you enjoy this method of cooking this comfort food♥️katie
That looks so good, Thanks for the tips from your mom, that sure will help me on last minute cooking beans. The maple syrup is the cherry on the cake! Thank you so much, I will try to make it just like yours. 🌷💙
salam irini Awad well my goodness, I’m just now seeing this comment and I apologize for that. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy this method♥️katie
had beans and ham hock with cornbread for dinner last night. i made it in the instant pot for the first tme. the beans were a little aldente, will cook a little longer next time.
Those beans do look good. I much prefer to cook my beans from scratch too but, l always have some canned on hand too. It's just me now, so a can is a good size for a meal for me. I've never heard of smoked salt but, l bet the flavour is fantastic. I'll have to hunt some down. I nearly fainted when you pulled out that jug of maple syrup - here in Aotearoa New Zealand that's probably about $300.00 worth! - I checked, 8½ fluid ounces is about $10.00. I've never seen it here in bottles bigger than 250ml cos, no-one could afford to buy it. 😊
Hello, from my house to your NZ home☺️ Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, from scratch, cooked all day is the best way to go but sometimes I forget to soak the beans and have to go the short-cut method. ha! I can't tell you where to buy the smoked salt as I haven't bought any in years. I think this bean video was one of the first ones I made about 6 years ago. I had a good supply of smoked salt back then. Wish I did now. Isn't it interesting how prices of foods varies from place to place? My cousins tap my great-grandparents' maple trees each year and give me a one gallon size jug of it! I can buy it from other people for less than $50 per gallon. I'll bet you have foods there on the cheap that we can't get easily here. Funny how that happens. Thanks for being here. I appreciate your comment. Welcome Home ❤️🏡❤️katie
Way to go giving it a try. Good news is, if they taste bad to you, you aren’t losing lots of money if you throw them out. 😉 Also, this video was one of my first ones over 800+ videos ago. I hope you find many more of mine that are helpful. ❤️🏡❤️
If i cooked the "family" meal in this vid. I would place the whole pot with the T-rex bone in front of me and tell the family...this is all for me!, you guys get takeout
In my family we always said; "it's yucky, you won't like it", whenever something was especially good. Of course it never worked because everyone knew it was code for, this is unbelievably good. 😊
