I'm from Memphis and knew thse dudes well. The bass player was only 15 in about '90 when they were getting popular locally, then got that 1 CD or so record deal. The oldest was only 19 wehn they signed. They were actually very down-to-earth and not stuck-up but man did they do up ALOT of chicks and blow!!
For some reason these guys remind me of a combination of Motley Crue and Skid Row, this band seriously kicks ass! Wish they would've gotten greater success
Great song, what a total shame that the grunge took the spotlight away from these guys and so many other great hair bands, the hair metal era was the last great era of rock 'n roll IMO
first time I ever heard of every mother's nightmare was on mtv's headbangers ball from back in the day and when it use to come on a Saturday night too. Oh yeah the other thing is back then mtv use to be awesome to watch and not boring as heck. So true, so true. pretty much mtv is now dead ☠️ don't know how they're still on the air yet. You don't hear much from every mother's nightmare anymore. Hopefully they're still together and rocking.
I hung out with these guys down in L.A back in 91. My friend and me were out to see Testament, but ended up at this show. Great bunch of guys, wish I'd kept my signed poster of EMN.....
They had 5 Sebastian Bach's. Still know them from here in Memphis but now they are down to almost zero Sebastian Bach's! Bring back the original bass player, he was the youngest but the coolest one.
@@Hairmetalfan1990 It was precisely the media who invented the term "hair metal" but come on, listen to RATT, Cinderella, Poison, Vain, Kix, and many other bands and it's impossible to catalog them like metal, I'm talking about the music NOT their appearances ... pssss REad this, millenial kid: blabbermouth.net/news/cinderellas-tom-keifer-says-hair-metal-term-is-just-ridiculous/
I think without a doubt EMN are fantastic and Rick is a man of many talents, great song lyrics and vocals. The whole group , very talented , Ruhl best of the best frontman..luv him..
It's kind of crazy that I have known about EMN for at least 30 years but I have never listened to a song until today. I mean, Rick even fixed my motorcycle years ago but still had never listened.
Later in '95 they had stored alot of road equipment in Son Of Slam's space right above my own band's print shop space just before heading on the road. There was a fire the night before Easter '95, destorying 3 bands worth of shit, including my own! Not to blame, but it started upstairs where Slam was not supposed to be living. Our band leader got all our stuff replaced, but unfortunately for the others they had no insurance. Tough Break for all involved!!! R.I.P. 1974 Marshall half stack
Love that guitar tone so much. Discovered this band back when I used to buy 2nd hand VHS Hard N Heavy cassettes back in the late 90's - no idea why this band weren't bigger.
there were many great bands between 89 and 92, but there wasn't place for everyone to get signed in a mayor record company back then, and Grunge came out in the 90s and most bands changed their sound and lyrics or just simply split out.
@wiggmaster66 im from memphis as well. spent lots of nights at rascals, night moves, and stage stop!!!!! saw EMN, tora tora, disturbance, son of slam, black 59s, and several other bands regularly. good times. Im sure at some point we ran into each other.
one of the best voices Rick Ruhl could and can still get after it....I remember the filming of this video in memphis at the omni new daisey or as we call it THE DAISEY
@csmpeoil Steve is a Harley Davidson Parts manager in St Louis and he is in a band called Bitter Pill that plays in several areas around St Louis Missouri.
my brother is a major fan of grunge or modern music and alot of times whenever we're in his car I have to listen to that shit! I would rather stick with hairmetal anyday
Hey, I'm in a band in WV, trying to help keep this style of music alive and kicking. We love this song but can't find lyrics anywhere. Any chance you could post them? I promise, we will do this song justice! Thx
***** shows your lack of knowledge. These guys were a band before Sebastian Bach was in Skid Row and any record had been released by Skid Row. If you want to say they are copying anyone it would have been Badness from the Nashville rock scene. In the early 90s their practice room, Arsenal, Tiger Radar, Ben Folds 5, 3 Doors Down and alot of others bands riverside in the old warehouse district.
Bach joined Skid Row in 1987, latter in the same year that EMN started. As I said, these guys were around before Bach was in Skid Row. Fallon was the singer for Skid Row when EMN formed.
StarkillerBH you are correct my bad. I stand corrected. However, they weren't around long before Bach joined skid row. He joined in early 87. Again, I think EMN has there very own sound and they should have been much larger than they were!
I know this is a really old comment but 3 Doors Down was in junior high in rural Mississippi in the early 90's. Brad Arnold graduate high school in 1996. My wife was in the same graduating class. They formed near that time. They used to play at the local junior college and open for bands that came through South Mississippi.
That's an interesting deduction. Skid Row formed in 1986 New Jersey? EMN formed in 1987 Nashville or Knoxville. To find the comparison for all the hair bands... you'll have to back up a little further than that.
this is one of my fav EMN songs there all good and there so damn hot. Ive been a fan since I frist hard them in 1990 and still leason to them every day LOVE YOU GUYS keep'em rocking till death comes knocking
I was at a friends Bday party here in Nashville Sat night for Hair Metal Henry and Eric Brittingham (from Cinderella). Jimmy Phipps ( EMN drummer) showed up to kick it
They were my boys back in the day. Used to hang with them all the time, was there for this video shoot, Nailed 70% of the women shown. Rick fuggin RUHLS!!! Great band that should be household names.
Such a solid band. I think their name hurt them to the point that they made themselves unmarketable after a certain point. Then when you get to that point, you cant change your name. The leader singer had that perfect 80s sound. Skid Row-ish with some blues tk it. This is good god damn music. Just watched a recent vid and they still got that sound. Its so good to still hear.
These guys came back, God only knows why, but are missing one of the 4 Sebastian Bachs!!! I miss them playing at the Stage Stop here in Memphis every chance I get - you should too...! I'd rather snort my own puke.
way off bro. hate grunge for killin hair metal all ya want, but the music just shifted from focus on riffs and guitar to a whole band focus, and DEFINITELY more in depth lyrics. ive never heard a hair metal drummer that wows me. matt cameron is 50x the drummer tommy lee ever was.

Theses guys had so much potential to go further than they did....shoulda heard more from them
Agreed
Proud to have Jim Phipps playing in my band now. Killer guy and killer drummer!
What band is that?
No more nightmares just rocking...

Seen them in 1988 in L.A....they were...and are some bad as motherfuckers! They laid waste to the club!!! Loved it then and now. Right on, Rick.

Good band. They came on to the scene right before the big shift in rock-n-roll from Seattle.

I was there also. A couple of Marine buddies and myself just happen to be on Beale street and got sucked in by all the push up bras and Aquanet.

Always loved their low (kind of underground) groove. Wish they'd have appeared on a rock scene much earlier.
