Apart from her predecessor being reputedly awful, Henyard was voted in because of the way she looked (hmmm…when has that happened before?), pre-existing criminal record notwithstanding. Henyard does clean up well, and looks relatively fit. Take away the expensive, color-treated and straightened/curled weave, painted on brows, bushy false eyelashes, pearls, cosmetic dentistry, makeup and pricey wardrobe, and she’s an average-looking woman. Henyard made only half-hearted efforts to suppress her ghetto (euphemistically described as “City Girl”) mouth and antics, even during official appearances. No image consultant can disguise a mean-spirited, racist, entitled personality and lack of a moral compass or ethical foundation.
So, it seems that Dolton residents were initially pleased to install a nice-looking representative there as mayor. By the time they realized that she was picking their pockets, lawlessly fining and arresting residents, endangering police access to their vehicles and more than tripling village debt…concurrent with foolish (check out the Chevy Tahoe lease agreement) lavish and uncontrolled personal spending, Henyard had already acquired dictatorial control over village politics and its police force; even the mayoral recall was quashed. Some of the residents of Dolton who have been interviewed by journalists, or been able to take the mic at meetings-including one homeless gentleman-have demonstrated vastly greater aptitude for village/township leadership positions, so hopefully some of those individuals will be considered in the future.
Isn't she also Dolton's Liquor Commissioner.

I agree. The evidence of this is overwhelming. Furthermore, if MLK saw this today he would be furious on how many black people have turn away from his preachings.
The issue of crooked, narcissistic, entitlement-minded politics is cultural, but one in which black females are seemingly over-represented, and which is fed by unprecedented levels of deferential and preferential treatment of POC.
The people in Dalton chose that woman did they not know what they were getting

At the end of the day, she ain't really doing anything different than any other politician. The problem is, she ain't low about it - she's sloppy. If she woulda got low and kept it professional, she wouldn't have brought so much heat to her tenure. But here we are. Oh well. 🤷🏽♂
