Hey everyone, I hope you enjoyed my run! I'm really happy I not only got the chance to redeem myself for my run of this back at AGDQ 2017, but I got a time I'm really happy with! I hope this run serves as a good starting point for anyone looking to learn the game! If you have any questions about this run or if you want to learn it yourself, feel free to get in touch with me! Thanks again! :D
@@tekofalco103 Not really actually, I've been running this game for almost 4 years now so I've gotten good at managing how much I play the game, hand stretches/warmups, etc. It is definitely something I always keep in mind, which is why I never play this for super long periods of time at once, but it hasn't caused any problems so far.
The ending always kills me, it's hilarious, some people think it's mean-spirited, but it's more that Pac-Man's saying "Yeah, that's great and all, but you kidnapped my friends and family so I'm not really inclined to care about you or your inferiority complex." CHOMP.
Damn, when i was a child (around 6 or 7) i used to play this game and just slowly go though the levels completely unaware of the main objective, i just wanted to walk around the levels and explore. The concept of speedrunning something was so unknown to me that (nowadays as an adult) everytime i see someone speedrun i realize that games aren't always fun on their own, sometimes YOU find your own ways to have fun with the game. And these guys are so good that we can watch them beat these levels quickly and entertain ourselves with their entertainment, i like it!
Man i've absolutely loved this game back then , i'm watching the speedrun for the second time , it just make me happy to see it , I love the levels design , it's so unique and monsters make you so curios to see what's next ,Absolute killer.
Looking back on this, being with the back couch for this run was an absolute blast. This run was incredible to be in the stream room for, Joester did an AMAZING job, and I'm very lucky to have had my run be right before this one. A couple of things I want to say while I'm here: 1. Please go follow Joe on Twitch and tune in when he streams. He primarily streams PS1 or PS2 speedruns, and he's very talented at many games, including the two you saw performed here, Crash Twinsanity, Pac-Man Arrangement, 40 Winks, and many others. He's also a very entertaining person to watch and talk to in general, as I'm sure you figured out from this run. 2. Definitely check out the Pac-Man community when you get the chance. As a huge supporter of the Pac-Man speedrunning community, I would say that we're one of the more friendly speedrunning communities out there. While the games are quite popular, the speedruns are often overlooked, and a lot of Pac-Man games have great speed tech in them and the runs are very visually impressive to watch. Please join the Pac-Man Discord (which, again, is for ALL Pac-Man games) and hang out with us; we'd love to have you and there are plenty of helpful people in the community who can help you learn any of the games if you're interested. 3. Shoutouts to GDQ for letting Pac-Man games be a staple at their events. Again, with the speedruns being not too popular, it's very helpful for us to be able to show off the games on the big stage every now and then, and 5 out of the past 6 events have had a Pac-Man game in the schedule. We're hoping that this tradition can continue for GDQs to come. :) That was quite a long comment, but I felt like saying this while it was still on my mind. Huge GGs to Joe on this run and thanks to everybody who supports this event.
Was watching Super Bomberman 2 when SmoothOperative left her shift. Then jumped to this one and here she is again. Best voice for a late night speedrun hosting indeed.
Pac-Man in smash has maybe 1 ability from his World games, and I will never not be mad about this. Butt bounce, rev roll, all that good stuff gone. Not even a single song from Pac Man World 2 in the game.
Sorry to burst the joke but his rival from what I can tell is some guy with the username of ProtoKid. They talk frequently in the Pac-Man speedrunning server and their records are fairly close (With Joe having about a 5-minute lead on ProtoKid). Although, ProtoKid seems to be actively playing World 1 so there's a possibility for him to overtake Joe. Okay, tangent over.
Runner introduction starts at 00:13

Couch commentary is provided by Nitrofski and WedSR
SmoothOperative is host.

Yup some people don’t understand this and feel sorry for Orson
“Shameless plug” made me like instantly. Wish more speed runners talked as much, very entertaining watch
Pac-Man gives 0 fks and just ate that ghost. Jesus.

This is one of the most entertaining run. Remember guys, it's not always about the speed, it's all about the fun.
3:40 "This out of bounds is really easy"
Me: *Wait that's a glitch, I thought that was a feature*
It’s probably a feature or the developers did not test if you could do that
I loved this game when I was a kid. It was beautiful watching this run.
I haven't seen this game since 2002. I thought I had hallucinated it.
This but with Pac Man World 2 lol

This and World 2 are my childhood, love seeing them get run here ^^ Great run and runner!

Also, in case anybody was wondering, the Pac-Man plushes on the couch were mine.
Easily the best run of the marathon!
Great run and commentary :D
This is one of my favorite speed games to watch. This is so wild.
Absolutely amazing runner!

bombaman
I never thought that 20 years later... I would be on my computer watching someone play this game, in an auditorium with an audience.
Awesome run, loved this game and its sequel as a kid, and the legend lives on as my smash ultimate main!
Pac-Man in smash has maybe 1 ability from his World games, and I will never not be mad about this. Butt bounce, rev roll, all that good stuff gone. Not even a single song from Pac Man World 2 in the game.
At least we get the flip-kick thing in his up-air!
Finally been waiting for Pacman World at GDQ! Good job to the runner!

His rival must be Dio.
