I remember watching a video of Joe’s where he was lent a fancy sports car. Instead of showing it off with friends, he opted to drive all the way home and take his granddad out for a spin instead. He went up in my estimation that day. He comes across as a polite, well adjusted young man and I wish him every success.
Out of all the UK UA-camrs from back in the day Joe is the one I like to keep up with the most. He’s humble, never let the fame or money change who he was, he’s a very talented and aspiring young man and has a great sense of humour, it’s nice to see him grow and I really hope he achieves everything he wants because he deserve it

I remember waiting for Sugg Sunday every week and it was the only thing that calmed my anxiety before school because I was being bullied. I’m 21 now and I have my university graduation on Saturday, it’s crazy how quickly time flies. I will say, even though I’m a grown up now I still go back and watch some of the Sugg Sunday videos and it feels like a big hug. It's amazing to realize how much I relate to Joe! This is a side of him that I kind of knew but also didn't think he had. What's awesome about him is even after all of those years portraying himself online, he never seemed fake to me. I remember when I started to watch Zoe, Joe & Alfie. I feels like a lifetime ago. I was a young adult having some struggles in my life and watching them helped me cope with those things. They were and they still are my favorite UA-camrs, so genuine and down to earth people.
Joe and Zoe were my comfort on some days that were extremely difficult. It’s funny how that has come a full circle in my connection with Joe, as I’m encountering the next hurdle in my life where I am deciding my next steps; whether to continue in the 9-5 or to take a chance and fulfil my dream of going to university, I’ve returned to seeing Joe encouraging one to take the risk to do what feels right. This was a fantastic interview. I am new fan and I will continue being a fan for what’s to come. Thank you for asking the questions that matter, in such a genuine matter.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I grew up watching Joe Sugg and the other popular Brit UA-camrs back in the day, and to watch this podcast as shown a different aspect of these UA-camrs experiences. Definitely a lot of key things I’ve learned and I’ll take on as I journey in with my career in social media. Thank you Steven for being informative, love the guests you’re bringing on!
Started watching Joe when I was around 13. I’m 24 now and watching this interview reminds me again why I loved Joe then, and love him now. A genuine humble person who always thinks of other people and isn’t afraid to remind himself of where he come from ❤
I’ve always admired Joe and it’s really interesting because I feel like a lot of what he spoke about I had already gathered through watching his videos which is weird because I don’t know if he necessarily spoke about it til now but I always saw this insanely creative hard working genius mind haha. Joe started about 15 different UA-cam tags back then that became popular all over the platform and he never got recognition. Stuff like innuendo bingo and the shock ball challenge even were such great ideas you can see his creativity within everything he does. Well done Joe genuinely, it hurts to hear about your imposter syndrome when I’ve always seen you as such an incredible person. (Also speaking to Joes imposter syndrome now - I know innuendo bingo wasn’t your actual idea as I remember you saying you saw it on a show but it doesn’t matter because the only reason I remember you got it from a show was because I thought at the time what a genius bringing that to UA-cam as a fun challenge. There were so many things like that that you did !
@@sowmyam1627 Yeah, he was the one that came up with that challenge, and it got huge and no one ever gave him credit for it. I only remember Markiplier shouting him out in his whisper challenge video cause people were happy about someone finally giving him credit, especially a big youtuber
I never watched Joe's channel or anything, but I did see him in the west end in "Waitress" & honestly he was absolutely amazing, just incredible.. The crowd went absolutely wild, everytime he came on stage. I love the fact despite his success, he is still super humble/greatful. 🌟💖🙏
Wow! I loved Joe and Zoe as a teenager and seeing his face brought me back to so many different memories. Love the variety of guests and the way you hold a space for them to be open and vulnerable.
i started watching joe when i was 8 in 2012, met him in 2015, was his biggest fan. im 19 this year and he has singlehandedly made my child/ teen hood have good memories. i still occasionally tune in and he will always be #1 such a great person. lotta love
Steven you are so fabulous. Never change your curiosity about others, your interest in humans and their experience! It really is the missing piece in a world of people who are self obsessed. You’re so great x
This is so interesting to hear joes side of the harsher reality of UA-cam. I’ve been watching joe so such a long time and it’s nice to hear his view, seeing him be vulnerable too is very brave. Hats off to you for being so honest🤍
I loved watching this. I'm around the same age as Joe I'm 30 this year and I started watching from when him and Caspar moved in together. I was living on my own as a young adult and sometimes just their videos kept me going. I still love to watch all the things Joe has done and is doing its amazing to see him grow like I am. Well done Joe you might not think it but you are an inspiration to many by just being yourself. Keep going with where ever your journey takes you.
Joe, I wasn't aware of you before this video. I love just how respectful, down to earth and easy going you are. Thanks for discussing some of your experiences so honestly and openly. This conversation flew by, you are really pleasant to listen to. Thanks Steven for another great conversation. I liked that you asked about therapy. Take care both :)
Starting watching Joe at uni, it was always a nice break from the intensity of my course. His videos continued to be a comfort when I transitioned into the working world - where I needed the laughter most of all
And here is where you can see how important is for kids having a loving caring parents, regardless of they are together or not the values, education and love will be what makes the difference when keeping humans humble and settled. Love how most European countries are most of the time so down to earth.
I've always loved Joe's nature. Coming from rural UK myself, I always felt able to connect more. I feel him on the school. Especially with kids myself now. The smaller first schools allow kids to grow within themselves confidence wise and it's almost a good thing to learn. However the small pool of people make it hard to make connections. I think that follows some children throughout their ongoing school life. I'm lucky to live in an area where we have three school tiers still. But even the transition from 30 kids in a whole school to 250 is a leap for some. And then up to 750 at high school. I couldn't imagine my own kids going into a 1000 plus. Or myself when I was that young. I know a master thatcher and it's a very lucrative business. Especially where he grew up. It's nice to know he has something to fall back on that can sustain him beyond social media. It is an art form in itself. It's nice seeing Joe grow. And knowing where he came from. I hope he does amazing things with Diana ❤️
loved this! Joe is such a sweetheart and the dynamic here is really great - I think Steven helps Joe to open up a bit more, as I sense that he can be slightly more reserved about things. As a subscriber of both Joe and Steven, I really enjoyed this podcast and hearing both of your takes on different things!
Hi Steve, Have you noticed how many of your “interviewees” are in a place where they want to put stuff back in , be mentors, leave legacies ? It’s deffo really rewarding helping others , I almost feel it’s more rewarding than anything else ! stops one becoming too self absorbing ….. (same as in relationships …care and do stuff for your partner, makes you happy, important that the other person does it back too !!! )
Joes old videos of visiting home and there grandparents were always my favorite! Wish people appreciated the pure videos now rather than the fake ones that are so staged! Life vlogs are the best!
The lovely Joe Sugg a true gentleman, humble, thoughtful, caring, generous, super talented. I really enjoyed this episode of Joe sharing his true self. May he continue his journey stress free and we wish himGreat joy and happiness in all he does. 🤗🙋♀️
I think you should interview Richard Blackwood. He was a legend and then disappeared from the limelight and now he’s come back. But would be good to know what happened to him! And his journey.
Mr Stephen Bartlett. You are an in inspiriation to my 2 foster boys who struggled for their first 15 years of life but now have steady jobs girlfriends and accommodation. We all agree you are an amazing human being and we would like to thank you for just being YOU
I’ve watched nearly every episode, and this was definitely up there with one of the most eye opening episodes as well as Mo Gawdett. I really resonated with Joe’s struggled and as one of his viewers since I was about 12, it’s so refreshing to hear that we are all struggling with the same things, none of us are alone! I would love to see you interview Alfie Deyes too!
I grew up watching Zoe, Joe and all the Brit crew and I still to this day enjoy their content (whatever it may be at this point in their life). They are all well adjusted and just humble people. Joe just seems so sweet and down to earth. I can’t wait to see what he does next. He deserves the world.
I have no idea who this is but didn't know he was a UA-camr. I relate to his early year journey his thinking & how his mind works. It so humbling to hear that we're not alone as creatives & humans!
Joe is one my heroes, could watch him do anything and I have been since I was 14 or 15 back when it all kicked off. I think it’s cause I can see bits of myself in him while at the same time wanting to be more like him. Hearing him talk about his experiences and struggles just makes me relate to him even more and I find it comforting knowing someone who I always admired so much has the same problems as me and everyone else.
I enjoyed this a lot. I used to watch everything Joe made or was in back in 2015-2016, and I will always remember those times fondly. Even though I haven't followed him as closely since then I have always thought of him as an admirable person. I always like his ideas and outlook on things.
Can completely relate to this podcast - like Joe said the Britcrew was a big part of my life growing up through my teenager years (now in my early 20s) but nice to see that he seems happy on how his career has turned out and is continuing to do great things
Got into watching Joe from being a Dianne fan of old plus as an ex dancer, I have just done a rerun of all there dance s plus the vids of them where they watch the previous weeks training, as a 76 year old I am not realy into the digital world I dont even today own a mobile phone . With those runs & vids of two people coming together all on vidio for them themselves to watch back it was and is a magical pairing , in the old days it would be letters kept of old love affairs kept so to just read back one day , but this digital age they both have a gift for the future to go back to . Joe is very well mannered with 100% talent at what he does and treats a Lady with respect to the degree thats so rare in todays world and Dianne as an Aussie is a personalty plus but was very loud in some respects, but over the time together they have both enhanced each other and its so nice to see , they seem to have formed strong roots together, like this interesting interview Joe has depth & talent so there s the saying watch this space these two are a true couple in every respect . Enjoyable vidio Stephan..
I absolutely loved watching this! I'd forgot how much I loved listening to Joe just speak :) always thought he was special and the way he talks about himself and everything proves that he is a great human. a great human all around. missed him
The surfing analogy conversation was really interesting. It would be good to ask Joe "what does "enough" look like to you?" or "what is your ideal week?"
Great episode ☺️ I wouldn’t necessarily say that perfectionists see themselves as perfect or super amazing at something. But it is shown in studies that perfectionists do procrastinate more because they put so much pressure on themselves to get it ‘perfect’ and when they feel they can’t do that, that’s how the procrastination starts
This is brilliant Joe and Steven! I’ve been a fan of Joe since day 1 and I’m still a fan today! I really hope he’s ok, it must be so hard to go through things like this in the public eye
Really enjoyed this podcast. I used to watch Joe and Zoe back in the day and think as I was the same age, that I wish I’d of had the confidence to put myself on UA-cam like they had. But now I’m much older, I’m very glad I didn’t. Would love to see an episode with Lewis Brindley from Yogscast. Another nostalgic UA-camr for me who quite like the Suggs, shares lots online but also doesn’t ever just sit down and speak either.
I have to agree with all these comments Joe is a decent genuine guy. I believe he has met his soul mate. Just keep being yourself Joe and cut yourself some slack. Stay Strong
Joe absolutely agree with what you said re your audience changing. I was 17 when I started watching you, Zoe and Alfie, and related to content and life stage until I was about 21. From there on I got older, interests were different and deeper, and I think creator’s lives changed too. And it’s totally natural! It’s not just the algorithm, but it’s also not your fault. It’s just life phases shifting displayed in views.
I’ve never stopped watching Joe. I’ve been watching since the beginning lol. I’ve followed his entire journey all the way through strictly and still now lol
Such a great insight of Joe's life. Growing up, I remember seeing all these UA-camrs going on Holidays and having fame, but not knowing that there was another side to the story.
I’m on the youtube journey without much resources at a very difficult time during recession. UA-cam growth gives me joy because every subscriber an or view is a milestone for me and I celebrate each moment literally. In effect I appreciate every little thing and step but I’m not sure how long I’ll be resilient because life and it’s hardships has it’s ways of affecting situations but I’m hopeful. Either I’m grateful and kind and these are the two principles guiding my life. I hope to be able to grow in a way that I can show case my cooking hobby as all I’m doing is virtual walking tours.
Watched this guy from start of his channel till he slowly stopped. Him and whole “UA-cam Gang” miss them but hope is well with them all. 🙏🏻 entertained me for years!! #ThatcherJoe 🤓

Agree with you. He hasn't got the recognition he deserved. If I remember correctly didn't he start the whisper challenge. People play it even today.
@@sowmyam1627 Yeah, he was the one that came up with that challenge, and it got huge and no one ever gave him credit for it. I only remember Markiplier shouting him out in his whisper challenge video cause people were happy about someone finally giving him credit, especially a big youtuber
Enjoy this with Joe, so down to earth and humble, wish him all the best.
So strange I was thinking about Zoe and Joe yesterday and how wholesome they are! Miss the old times watching their channels as a teen!
His sister is my age and I started watching her when I was about 19, then got into Joes videos too. Both seem so genuine and down to earth.
I never watched Joe's channel or anything, but I did see him in the west end in "Waitress" & honestly he was absolutely amazing, just incredible.. The crowd went absolutely wild, everytime he came on stage. I love the fact despite his success, he is still super humble/greatful. 🌟💖🙏
Mad how half the comments are insulting him, imagine that being your first thought. Good podcast and a great insight into Joe Sugg
Wow! I loved Joe and Zoe as a teenager and seeing his face brought me back to so many different memories. Love the variety of guests and the way you hold a space for them to be open and vulnerable.
A useful insight into a ‘confident’ person’s mental health and non-visible self doubt and anxiety and yet pushing through
i started watching joe when i was 8 in 2012, met him in 2015, was his biggest fan. im 19 this year and he has singlehandedly made my child/ teen hood have good memories. i still occasionally tune in and he will always be #1 such a great person. lotta love
I always loved Joe a lot. Out of all the british youtubers he's the one who seemed the most down to earth. I'm really happy you made that episode !
Steven you are so fabulous. Never change your curiosity about others, your interest in humans and their experience! It really is the missing piece in a world of people who are self obsessed. You’re so great x
I’ve been watching Joe for a long time. Love how authentic he is, gorgeous soul ☺️
Joe has always been a great young man. Very grounded and I love Diane too. SO compatible.
Joe Sugg what a legend! Looking forward to hearing him speak 🙌🏼
This is so interesting to hear joes side of the harsher reality of UA-cam. I’ve been watching joe so such a long time and it’s nice to hear his view, seeing him be vulnerable too is very brave. Hats off to you for being so honest🤍
I used to follow Joe when he first started UA-cam. I'm glad he's doing well and loved this podcast! really insightful !
Keep going with where ever your journey takes you.
i love this guy so much. i started watching him when i was 13 and now i am 23. Will forever be wishing him the best
I remember when Joe looked so young, I love how grown up he looks now!
🤗🙋♀️
Loved this ep with Joe! He honestly seems like such a nice person. Loved him on Strictly too! Would be great to hear his sister Zoe’s story also!
I think you should interview Richard Blackwood. He was a legend and then disappeared from the limelight and now he’s come back. But would be good to know what happened to him! And his journey.
I remember Joe when he first started and i was quite impressed with him. He is a smart guy who invested his money wisely unlike most youtubers.
Absolutely love Joe. Very decent, honest and open person. Great podcast as always x
Mr Stephen Bartlett. You are an in inspiriation to my 2 foster boys who struggled for their first 15 years of life but now have steady jobs girlfriends and accommodation. We all agree you are an amazing human being and we would like to thank you for just being YOU
Love this! You should do Zoe Sugg - this would be a good interview to do Steven
I watched joe when I was 14 from his first videos. I still watch and support joe and Zoe. I love the vlog style vlogs personally ❤
Love Joe. He just has a beautiful soul. I love how sensitive and reflective he is. And multi-talented. Carry on doing whatever makes you happy.
I'd forgot how much I loved listening to Joe just speak :) always thought he was special and the way he talks about himself and everything proves that he is a great human. a great human all around. missed him
Such a nice guy. Watched loads of his vlogs with Syndicate life of Tom and he comes across so well. Friendly caring and funny xx
im 24 now and i remember the days when he started the bubble wrap boy and everything. he doing amazing
Oh Joe, you were absolutely amazing in Waitress. I've seen 3 Ogie's now - west end/ broadway trained too and you were by far my favorite.
As a UA-camr myself this was really interesting to watch! A lot to think about… thank you Joe & Steven ❤️
🙏🏻
The surfing analogy conversation was really interesting. It would be good to ask Joe "what does "enough" look like to you?" or "what is your ideal week?"
didn’t expect this one, Joe has come so far!
Joe seems like such a nice, genuine and smart person!!
Joe pretty much verbalized my entire personality lol nice to know I'm not alone
Great episode ☺️ I wouldn’t necessarily say that perfectionists see themselves as perfect or super amazing at something. But it is shown in studies that perfectionists do procrastinate more because they put so much pressure on themselves to get it ‘perfect’ and when they feel they can’t do that, that’s how the procrastination starts
This is brilliant Joe and Steven! I’ve been a fan of Joe since day 1 and I’m still a fan today! I really hope he’s ok, it must be so hard to go through things like this in the public eye
My favourite podcast ever. I’ve watched Joe since he started out and I’m so excited for this! Thank you Steve! ❤️
I remember waiting every day for joes videos, he saved me
I have to agree with all these comments Joe is a decent genuine guy. I believe he has met his soul mate. Just keep being yourself Joe and cut yourself some slack. Stay Strong
I need to shout out the interviewer here because he asks very unique, distinct questions that prompt very personal and interesting answers. Well done!
Have you heard of the #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet movement before? You might be interested 🌸
Btw, yea, I also watched Zoe and Joe, Bethany till around 20, I'm glad they are doing well now too
I’ve watched this once before but now I’m listening and really understanding. Wonderful intimate conversation.
I’ve never stopped watching Joe. I’ve been watching since the beginning lol. I’ve followed his entire journey all the way through strictly and still now lol
I used to watch him all of the time and loved his content! Well done Joe for talking up about this I only wish you the best in life!!!!
Joe is so incredibly talented and is so inspiring. Watch him and Casper back in the day!
Crazy how I started watching when I was 8, I I'm now 20 and ive met him in person
I never really followed him but I feel such sympathy for how all this must have effected him 😢
Steven is such an excellent interviewer and Joe a perfect interviewee.
‘ve been watching joe for ten years now and still love every stage of him :’)
This is amazing you having joe on… maybe good to have Zoe Sugg on that would be brilliant also x
Such a great insight of Joe's life. Growing up, I remember seeing all these UA-camrs going on Holidays and having fame, but not knowing that there was another side to the story.
Isn’t he just a genuinely nice human being.
What a lovely and humble young man!
