Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance All Cutscenes (Game Movie) 1440p 60FPS
In the Forgotten Realms timeline, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is set after The Crystal Shard (1988), the first book in Salvatore's The Icewind Dale Trilogy, and the fourth book in the Legend of Drizzt series. The game takes place in the Icewind Dale region of Faerûn. On the connection, Salvatore said, "First of all, if you've read the books and you play the game, you'll probably get a more satisfying experience out of the game. Thegame will bring more to the story than you've gotten from the books now. If you're doing a video game, you're going to have to take some literary license and maybe not stick completely with it. Little things like that don't bother me at all when you're talking about a video game-because your job, when you're making the video game, first and foremost, is to make sure that players are having fun, and they're writing their own story".
Both Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden (2021) are set in the Icewind Dale region; however, in the canon timeline, the video game occurs before the tabletop adventure module Dungeons & Dragons principal writer Chris Perkins said, "we sat down with narrative designers for Dark Alliance, and we basically opened up a toy box, pulled out all the toys, and figured out how we were going to play with same toys. And so, there are places and foes and places that appear in Rime of the Frostmaiden that if you play Dark Alliance, see echoes of/similarities to. Each story is separate - the story of Rime of the Frost Maiden is completely separate from Dark Alliance, just using same locations. You get a sense of real history to this place. Together, when you take the two things combined, you get bigger painting of Icewind Dale".

There's not much to say about this game other than potential game of the year ! /s
What are your thoughts on this master piece of a game?
What are you talking about this game is awful
@@moonmyers2608 wooosh...ever heard of sarcasm
My only complaint is how buggy this game can be.
Also, they should have everyone who has ever participated in Critical Role voicing in games like this one.
@@melxb Sarcasm is conveyed through tone of voice... You mean irony. (Opposite meaning given through context)
Salute to whoever soldiered through this game.
Yes the usual Drizzt is key to everything plot line
Well, if it works why change it😀
@@Perixaris Because it's boring. Like most things Drizzt related.
I don't know why we couldn't just play as him. Have a Shadow of Mordor style of play with stealth kills, bow sniping, and the like.
How u dare to talk that way bout Drizzt Do'Urden from Menzoberranzan😆
the legacy of the drow series is amazing my guy lmao
Game was meh. What dark "alliance".. They didn't get to do anything and was wiped out.
I think some evil dwarfs were working with a beholder.
And goblins are seen helping Icewind during the final boss battle.
@@nicke9012 Would have been better if their bosses teamed up and fought together, throwing a few minions is hardly an alliance. Plus the Icewind bit doesn't make sense as the dragon was trying to destroy all in the dale and not being apart of any alliance.
and dragon age inquisition combat is 10x better and was made 6 years ago LOL
The cut scenes were awesome these guys would do a netflex series justice
Drizzt hates bald people as much, as Geralt of Rivia does. 🤗 `Guilty by choice of haircut!´
The only redeeming quality this game has is Drizzt being voiced by Crispin Freeman.
I was wondering why his voice sounded familiar.
and the goblin cutscenes
I had hoped for a scene with Drizzt meeting Geralt of Rivia.
Soooooo.... why wasn't the intro about Kessel invading Ten-Towns the story being told? This feels like a sequel to a much more interesting story.
The Crystal Shard by R.A. Salvatore has the story. And the four companions are extremely likable and fleshed out in the story!
@@loganswaisgood8524 So let's rephrase the question: Why isn't this game an adaptation of the Crystal Shard?
@@InoMercy Probably because you can't really have the kind of non-stop action this game leans on while adapting THAT story. The novel has a lot more going on, and a fairly interesting game could be made of it, but it would have to be a much more involved game with a more focused, single-play, multi-feature kind of design. Not this stage-by-stage hack-and-slash.
I recommend you read the book. It's one of Salvatore's early works and it's nothing groundbreaking, but as D&D novels go it's a good 'un.
Funnily enough, the fact that the Shard was left behind in the snow by Kessell was used as a sequel-hook in the books too (twice, once in the book that followed and then again in Passage to Dawn), but there was never any massive monster feeding-frenzy. This game plays fast and loose with the Crystal Shard storyline in a pretty silly way.
This game doesn't really portray the Companions accurately inasfar as what they did during the original book. Catti-brie is portrayed as fighting alongside the group (she didn't really start to be an active adventurer until several books later) and shows them fighting as a big ol' team against Kessell when, in truth, they were all doing stuff in different places and only Drizzt pursued Kessel onto that mountain in the end.
It reminds me of "Lord of the Rings: War in the North" which I had fun playing.
Yeah that game was amazing IMO
Was it just me who noticed that there are some pretty close LotR rip-offs here? The scene where Kessell assembles an army of dark creatures = Saruman with his 10,000 Uruk-Hai. The shard abandoning Kessell = The Ring abandoned Gollum + Gollum's fall
Yeah on the second book they start a quest to reclaim a lost dwarf stronghold. Spoiler: it was conquered by a dragon °-°
Some? LOL!
The Companions of the Hall deserved a better game.
You got that right.
Not with Cattie-brie still alive. Boring c u n t.
"And his *adopted daughter,* Catti-brie"
D'aaaaaaaw~
So what he is saying is...
A magical artifact that waited for a user (so the one ring)
A guy who answered his call and made it its precious (aka discount Sauron)
Who made a crystal tower and summoned all evil to himself (aka barad dur and sauron again)
In order to conquer everyone (and in the darkness bind them)
But an alliance of humans, dwarves and a drow stood in his way (aka the last alliance fought the evil at the slopes of mount doom)
And when sensing the defeat of its wearer, the shard abandoned him (the ring betrayed Isildur)
Sure is great that D&D has such rich plots that are totally original.
Honestly, you can look at any settings/story and find similarities to other pieces of works. Art is inspired by other art.
@@shadowmaydawn Yeah, but this is blatant with the ring, come on.
@@joeri7130 And again you can find these tropes in other media works. In fact, the idea of a cursed magical golden ring existed before LOTR in works like The Ring of the Nibelung.
But honestly, this kind of observation is very superficial. It's just pointing out that a specific piece of work uses similar themes to another. It doesn't bother to look at how these works tell their stories around these themes.
Seems bit retconned for catti-brie did not get her magic bow until silver stream book in the icewind Dale trilogy.
Drizzt seems to have twinkle when he suppose to get it in silver stream as well.
Bruenor also he appears to be wearing his mithral hall uniform before he canonically gets it.
So this could be a slight retcon with some liberties taken cause Salvatore let them do whatever for this, which is neat.
When a author aka creator like him basically gives game creators or movie creators and such the go ahead to basically do what they want with that author's story and characters is pretty much the best thing that can happen to someone.
It's a double edge sword, I havent played much yet but am a huge fan of the novels and from what I've been seeing people are bashing the hell out of this game..
I did like the orges singing. Probably the funniest part.
These cutscenes look great in 4K running natively. Shame everyone skips them.
Who skips them!? They’re literally the only good thing in the game lol
i love how the narrator sounds like Alucard!
even if it doesn't save the game from flopping.
I love all the tunes each group does, makes them feel unique, and the enemy types look good. Especially when so many fantasy games technically have the "same" creatures. Voice acting is pretty good too! Shame the game is apparently boring and has average ass quests. Maybe i should buy it just to see if the reviews were right
I’m not big into video games, but I love the the lore of Dungeons & Dragons. Especially the 4 books of the Dragon Lance series.
Where’s are a good Jumping off point for other novels?
I mean, if you want to get into the Legend of Drizzt novels, I would highly recommend them. I would suggest reading them in batches, since they sort of came out in arcs of three to four books
I enjoy the lore as well.
Begin with Homeland (RA Salvatore), then go from there. Or you can just start with the very first book in the Forgotten Realm series: Pool of Radiance.
I belong to the minority who LIKED the animated Dragon Lance movie `Dragon's Of Autumn Twilight´. No masterpiece, but solid canon.
I hear "Crenshinibon" and my mind says "Crave Cinnabun"
The only good parts of the game. I honestly couldn't be bothered to play past the second mission after I saw how broken combat and the AI are.
This game would have been much better if A) you only played as Drzzt, the only character anyone actually knows/cares about, and B) the gameplay was more akin to Shadows of Mordor, with stealth kills, sniping, hack and slash combos, etc.
Seems to have a very God of War feel to it. Never played this game though. Love the books.
You shold read the books of R. A. Salvatore. The game is for them books The Crystal Shard but if you whant the full story start from The Dark Elf Trilogy to get the full picture. Тhey are very good books no wonder they made a game аbout them
The companions needed way more cutscenes and a way deeper story. Every environment looked the same basically. All the bosses were one dimensional. Total lazy money grab. such a wasted opportunity to show so many iconic places and really dig into each of the companions and their history together. Absolutely trash. Except for the funny launch trailer lol.
They did NOT seriously name a giant Kelvin
I literally just finished the Crystal Shard last night and Drizzt definitely did not have the others with him at the top of Kelvin’s Cairn when Akar Kessell fell in the avalanche..
Goodness some of the voicelines sound like they are written by preteens trying to be edgy
They had my attention until they cut the cutscenes, after playing 5 maps without cutscenes i said fuck it and uninstalled, rather see it on youtube than playing another level expecting some story telling and getting nothing instead.
villain? training for thousands of years, or chasing something for thousands of years? nah power of friendship. too over powered... way too Cliché
They gang up on solitary bald people. Typical for delusional drug addicts & similar scum in denial.
I just loved how the devs obviously paid no attention to the books when designing this game lol. Where is Aegis Fang?? Wulfgar doesn't look like how he is described in the books. Its amazing to me that R.A. Salvatore visited this dev and didn't immediately get pissed off lol...maybe he did. About the only thing they got right was Drizzts' look sort of. The cutscenes were obviously done by a completely different group who had passion for the subject matter. This could have been such a classic had another company made it. Bummer
This could have been a warhammer 40k game, it is not icewind dale
Where is Regis?!
Good question.
Had a better job offer elsewhere! Played him in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms.
Wtf didnt know how short the cutscenes are
I didn’t know it was basically a musical lol
Fool enemy AI, Fools hits a player as if a child were hitting an adult.
Holy shit a minute and 36 seconds and I don’t wanna watch anymore… the studio really butchered the story I can already tell.
This may have been garbage but I think the developers could have done better with the right tools and design for the game. And also this game kind of reminds me of godfall
It is a lazier copycat than Middleearth Shadows of War or Assassin's Creed.
Why the hell there are only 2 cutscenes with our heroes?
Well, think of it like this; in this game, you can either play solo or with up to four friends, and in a future update, each of them will be able to play as the same hero. You would have to create multiple versions of the same cutscene in order to represent the characters that were present at that moment, which would be very time-consuming. The other option is to create cutscenes that feature all four heroes, regardless of their presence in the player(s)' playthrough but this would feel disconnecting. Like if you were playing the adventure solo then it would be pretty jarring to suddenly see the other party members on screen.
@@shadowmaydawn bullcrap the game sucks ass and it s a pity cause I've been mad waiting for this game
@@kwstasdip9742 Why is that "bullcrap?" The Borderlands series also didn't feature the heroes frequently in their cutscenes because they face the same dilemma.
@@shadowmaydawn it's a crap game! Not just by the absence of cutscenes
@@kwstasdip9742 That's not answering my question: how is my explanation for why there are only a few cutscenes of our heroes "bullcrap?" Stop dodging the question by saying how bad the game is because that is not what at dispute here.
What are those big chubby dudes that hang out with the goblins.
Ogres maybe? I'm not sure either
Hill Giants. Hill giants are dumb and pride themselves on girth
It says there “Veerbeg”
@@GusOmega No the fuck their not XD ther Veerbeeg they are giant kin like Trolls. Hill Giants are like 10 times taller than them about as tall as Ice giants
25:17
When the cringy edgelord gets booted from the session
for me i don't liek this game the only dnd dragon vibe it has is the characters and enemies it has 0 to do with the atcual mechanics of dnd.
This straight up reminds me of a marvel cartoon?
PC Specs?😁😁😁
Behold! Literally the only good thing about the Worst Videogame of 2021.
Most non canon part of this game…Wulfgar in pants!!! Blasphemy! Lol
But Wulfgar _did_ wear pants in the canonical books ( _The Crystal Shard,_ C9,C12; _The Silent Blade,_ C6,C19; _The Night of the Hunter,_ C5).
Faz rapadura de picole
Lanterna cun talk
Why did they make drizzt hair Karen hair ?...
seems like a WoW ripoff.
