Dark Sector is set in Lasria, a fictional satellite country bordering the Soviet Union. In the prologue, set near the end of the Cold War, the Lasrians discover an American submarine off the coast. After opening it, a mysterious infection called "the Technocyte" breaks loose.[citation needed] In the game's present, the Lasrian military fights against the Technocyte victims, who have largely undergone extreme mutations and have gained frightening abilities.
The player character is Hayden Tenno. An ambivalent CIA agent, he has congenital analgesia, which renders him unable to feel pain. He is supported by Yargo Mensik, a scientist and sleeper agent who knows the origin of the Technocyte virus. The main antagonist, Robert Mezner , is an ex-CIA agent who seeks to build a utopia by spreading the Technocyte virus across the planet. Supporting Mezner is Nadia, a mysterious woman whom Hayden knows; and "Nemesis", a metallic, humanoid figure who fights with a long Technocyte blade.

Here watching after TennoCon 2023, so that I can get the idea of the groundwork for whatever Warframe 1999 is building up from, which makes no sense in the established context of Warframe but only makes me more excited for it. Cheers to the growth DE has made in 10+ years!
I hope they recreate the fight against Nyx and we get that single throwing Tonfa as a weapon after defeating it

Owned this on 360 when it first released and have been watching the low quality UA-cam version that came out years ago. Thanks for the HD quality very underrated game

The setting of this game was changed from something way more Warframe to more modern due to publisher demand.

I enjoyed this game a lot in part because it something new to offer;the "Glaive" that was fun to use,especially at the beginning of chapter 4 "Moths to the flame" where you get the "Aftretouch" upgrade which is the ability to steer it in slow motion mid flight fex round corners and also hit enemies behind cover by steering it so it would ricochet between the cover and wall behind them cutting them to pieces:I only wished it had longer range
This is the game that was the precursor to Warframe
First thought in my mind too. I found out after I got that proto armor and glaive skin for Excalibur a few years ago

And there's a teaser video made of the Dark Sector game they wanted to make out there, that looks even more like warframe, that they had to abandon cos the publisher wanted a less 'scifi' game.

The original Tenno was Hayden. That's cool. The warframes were created through the infection and warframes Are infected humans Excal Umbra's quest proves that. Too bad we know Umbra isn't Hayden. Because his transformation seems pretty tormented. Even the Liset landing craft is the same. So good. And Styanax Umbra seems horrifying in this context lol.
yeah but DE said Dark Sector and Warframe happen in different universes tho, so they're not related.....even tho they could use the current state of the story and the Void to link them
That graphics for this game at the time were pretty crazy
The multiplayer is a lot more fun to play. You can play as a mercenary or the infected. But one of the players becomes Hayden Tenno.

Nope, here after visiting my PC again (after getting it fixed after a year) and finding Warframe hiding in the games folder.
I started playing when first Kullervo was revealed/released. Now, after a month of playing WF, was watching videos on how to do and farm stuff when suddenly a Kullervo video appeared. Have maxed out my Dex Rhino, Dex Nikana, Boltor, dex furis and everything and will farm me boi Kullervo today morning (yes it's 12 AM) and in the amidst of this, got recommended a Darksector 2005 footage video and then in the play next video, this one.
I'm gon be a Kullervo main.

Very underrated game! Is it backwards compatible? Cuz i haven't played Dark Sector for a longtime.
If you meant are PS4/PS5 compatible with older PlayStation games, the answer is no. Sony isn't a fan of retrocompatibility.

@@a.jthomas6132 The XBOX ONE is retrocompatible with a big list of games from the first XBOX and the XBOX 360 but not every games are retrocompatible (which unfortunately includes Dark Sector) and there's no plans of making that list bigger as far as I know.
The XBOX Series is retrocompatible with the sames retro XBOX games as the XBOX ONE, I however advice you to wait until an official store reduce the price of the next gen console since it's still quite pricy.
Microsoft isn't perfect but the company at least makes an effort compared to Sony.
if you're still interested in playing, the game has been ported to pc and is on steam.

I played this back on the ps3 so long ago I didn’t know this was the forerunner to warframe until I saw the description for the glaive skin in warframe since it looked just like the glaive in dark sector !
Worst offenses would be everyone leaving the MC for dead at any given opportunity and everything related to Nadia's writing
Game still got me to come back 15 years later so it definitely had something positive going on despite the flaws

Because this was the predecessor to Warframe
so sure all the art and everything is proto warframe, but anyone else notice it runs the same themes of how we deal with trauma? picking ones side/family, and the world being a little more complex than just the good and bad they had been led to believe.
