    very interesting and informative podcast!!! If it were for me I would leave the ingrid sweater how it is and just wear it, but I do that with most knits, just skip over mistakes and pretend it was intended. it looks super cute on too!!

      That's true, mistakes really are what you make them out to be - either you let yourself get super annoyed or you just accept it and enjoy the project anyway! Thank you for watching

    Hi Yiqi! Thanks for keeping me company as I painted my knitting nook this afternoon. All your makes are so beautiful!
    Some thoughts on ribbing: Try knitting through the back loop when doing the knit stitch if you like that neat, tidy look. This will give you twisted rib. I had the same issue with the messier knit stitch when doing rib. I think it has something to do with the tension of the neighboring purl stitch. I discovered that knitting my purls by looping my yarn under the needle, instead of over, makes for cleaner ribbing.

      Hi Iny! Aw painting your knitting nook sounds like such a lovely new year's project! Thanks for the tip, I'd never thought to try looping the yarn under the needle for the purl to get cleaner ribbing, I'm definitely going to give it ago! Thank you!

    Hi Yiqi, love your podcast. I totally get your frustration with the Ingrid sweater, not dramatic at all. I’m working on a project at the moment where I had to do sweater surgery and it’s pretty stressful. I had the same kind of frustration and wondering if trying to fix something just made it worse. It can become overwhelming. I think it’s a good idea to leave it as it is for a while, so you get some clarity with distance from the problem. It could be a good idea to knit a small swatch, cut and graft it, to see how the yarn behaves. You’ll get a feel for it and be able to decide if you want to cut the sleeve. Something I like to remember is that all this troubleshooting with knitting is where we learn and grow. You’ll be a better knitter than you were before. I love how adventurous you are and I’ve been enjoying your podcast. Have a great day and thanks for the inspiring content. - Just editing to say that I’m watching your most recent episode now and so glad you’re feeling better about the sweater! It really is beautiful

      Hello! Aw thank you so much for watching and for your very thoughtful message!! It's true, leaving it alone for it was a good idea! My knee jerk reaction to problems is to fix them asap (applies to knitting and also a bit in life 😂) but there will be endless problems and sometimes when you get some clarity you realize it's not a big deal! And practicing on a smaller swatch is a great idea! Really appreciate your kind words! 💕

    Loved your podcast! I just started the first sleeve of my Ingrid Sweater so I knit it while watching you☺️ The construction of the sweater is so beautiful but you are right, it’s pretty involved and you have to have your wits about you in certain parts of the pattern. My MO with most items I knit is to make a couple of mistakes and tink back multiple times - I’ve just accepted it as a part of my process at this point 🫠 I just subscribed and I’m looking forward to seeing more on your channel!

    Just found your podcast and really enjoying it so far! On the Ingrid, I would def redo the first sleeve - I think the Kitchener “scar” will be hidden in the textural changes that happen in this sweater, whereas in the headband the fabric is so smooth otherwise that your eye is naturally drawn to any small inconsistencies

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  Рік тому

      Hi Samantha! Aw I'm so glad to hear that and thanks so much for watching! That's so true - the more I look at the sleeve, the more I realize that there are lots of places to "hide" any potential scars bc of the textures!

    Honestly, re the Ingrid sweater, I don't think anyone would ever notice the mismatched sleeves. I'm not even sure you'll notice them after a while. It's a beautiful sweater, and it would be very sad if you couldn't wear it because you didn't like how the fix turned out.

    • @tangerineknits

    That’s terrible about your Ingrid sweater!! Sometimes I find if you wear it and it doesn’t bother you then dont worry about it...because typically no one will notice a mistake. As knitters we seem to focus too much on the negative-our mistakes!! If you put your sweater on and ask your boyfriend to see if there’s anything strange about it, and he notices it, then maybe consider re-doing one sleeve, otherwise think twice before frogging the sleeve. I am always fudging decreases and shaping!! I just picked up my Ingrid sweater after it sat for a month because of Christmas knitting. I have 2 sleeves to do..but so far it seems pretty fun!! I forgot how fun it was. Happy Knitting!😊

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  Рік тому

      Hi Helen! Thanks for your note - it's true, it's way too easy to fixate on mistakes that we know about as knitters but it's a good sanity check to see if it's even noticeable for others! Super exciting that you're picking back up your Ingrid sweater as well, I hope you have fun!! Happy Knitting to you too :)

      @@tangerineknits a tip to help you with the sleeve chart or future charts where they ask you to repeat rows and do decreases…is to number the rows, so I started : 1-2-1-2-1-2 (repeating the first 2 rows x3) then continue numbering 3-4 (dec) 5-6-7 -8 and then to note the next 8th row to dec to make a note on that row. Hope this makes sense. 👍

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  Рік тому

      @@helentkalcic4417 Yes it does and it's a great idea! At first, I was trying to keep it in my head, but that became too much so I started writing numbers on the on the chart as you said and putting a mark on the decrease rows. Was definitely super helpful!

    Did you knit the ingrid sweater without the mohair? Did you have to change anything?

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  Рік тому

      Hello! Yes, I did drop the mohair! The pattern called for DK + mohair held together, and I used one strand of worsted weight yarn instead. I used the recommended needle size in the pattern and after swatching, found that my gauge is a bit larger than the pattern, so I sized down one size. It seemed really small before blocking, but blocked out to my intended measurements after some stretching!

    Im knitting the ingrid sweater man version right now. I'm getting terrified of the sleeves now. But so far, i like how engaging this knit is. I have to think because the pattern assumes the knitter can deduce what is meant. It looks beautiful on you.

    I’m on the last stretch of my Ingrid sweater too! I ran out of yarn a little bit earlier though. I find it funny that I did the exact same thing with the sleeves. I knit the first sleeve with one less short row because I knit the first short row too far.
