Literally every one of Raphael's complaints is an intended game mechanic: "very emotionless game" - A game all about emotions, not directly, but about cold, hard realities about powerlessness and predestination. if it doesn't touch your heart at least 26.4 times you're dead inside "someone else's hallways" - That's the main point of the game. Are you in Stanley's hallways? Are you in the Narrator's hallways? Are you in the other Narrator's hallways? The dev's hallways? What do they represent? "absolutely no free will" - Stanley have no free will by himself. The Narrator and the player compete for control over this character only to find out they are all as predestined as him. "no way to change anything" - It's a game about choices and what they really mean in the end on a grand scale. Spoler alert. Nothing. "no power" - There IS no power in the Parable. "Your game is very good at letting [the player] they can't do anything" - I agree. "narrator dialogue too much" - He is the only thing guiding you, and he gets off on it because it makes him look powerful. On many endings, this cover is blown and he is revealed to be as insignificant and self-delusional as you. "Stanley is repeated all the time" - Stanley is nothing but an office worker. Some insect on the face of the earth with no significance. A puppet. A Stanley. And yeah, I'm done.
I dont think Raphael did anything to stray from the story, I bet he followed the narration to the dot. Hence why he thinks there are no choices or free will. I think the whole point of the game is free will (in a bioshock sense: it doesn't change anything)
Exactly, but the whole point of the game is APPARENT free will. You can stray from THE STORY, and exercise your free will...only to realise that that is accounted for and scripted too, which makes the narrator at first angry, because he took comfort in commanding things... But then the narrator realises that there is no free will for him either and the second narrator kicks in. And all she does is read stuff from a piece of paper about the others herself...
It could also be a sly comment on video games, or just games in reality. A game does not really accomplish much does it? Games are just used to while away time, and to fill what would be otherwise empty hours with entertainment, but are empty beyond that. For instance Minecraft gives the illusion of free will, and yet everything that you do in it is utterly meaningless outside the game itself, yet it is built in a way to make it matter what you actually do in it, even though it is a game without end.

The Raphael Parable is my favorite game, having facilitated by way of its existence the legendary shutdown of Raphael himself. As a game, it does not overstay it's welcome, because it takes up the second half of a 6 minute trailer. Every part of the game serves to facilitate the author's intent, making it the most perfect game ever made, and surely the most _interactive_ experience Raphael has ever had.
When my grandma played this game she had her heart touched so much it actually cured her cancer, unfortunately her heart exploded a few hours later causing a rater peculiar death.

The Stanley Parable was comical for the most part, but with things like the confusion ending, as morbid as it was, had me feeling a little unnerved. It didn't necessarily "scare" me, though.

The Caliber I know I'm 3 years late, but in the full game they also actually added a console command for this guy (just "Raphael" in the console and it makes any/all of the narrator dialogue just say Stanley)

Literally every one of Raphael's complaints is an intended game mechanic:
"very emotionless game" - A game all about emotions, not directly, but about cold, hard realities about powerlessness and predestination. if it doesn't touch your heart at least 26.4 times you're dead inside
"someone else's hallways" - That's the main point of the game. Are you in Stanley's hallways? Are you in the Narrator's hallways? Are you in the other Narrator's hallways? The dev's hallways? What do they represent?
"absolutely no free will" - Stanley have no free will by himself. The Narrator and the player compete for control over this character only to find out they are all as predestined as him.
"no way to change anything" - It's a game about choices and what they really mean in the end on a grand scale. Spoler alert. Nothing.
"no power" - There IS no power in the Parable.
"Your game is very good at letting [the player] they can't do anything" - I agree.
"narrator dialogue too much" - He is the only thing guiding you, and he gets off on it because it makes him look powerful. On many endings, this cover is blown and he is revealed to be as insignificant and self-delusional as you.

I dont think Raphael did anything to stray from the story, I bet he followed the narration to the dot. Hence why he thinks there are no choices or free will. I think the whole point of the game is free will (in a bioshock sense: it doesn't change anything)

You can stray from THE STORY, and exercise your free will...only to realise that that is accounted for and scripted too, which makes the narrator at first angry, because he took comfort in commanding things... But then the narrator realises that there is no free will for him either and the second narrator kicks in. And all she does is read stuff from a piece of paper about the others herself...
It could also be a sly comment on video games, or just games in reality. A game does not really accomplish much does it? Games are just used to while away time, and to fill what would be otherwise empty hours with entertainment, but are empty beyond that. For instance Minecraft gives the illusion of free will, and yet everything that you do in it is utterly meaningless outside the game itself, yet it is built in a way to make it matter what you actually do in it, even though it is a game without end.

You can gain ideas in either world and use them in the other.. you can meet people in either world and meet them in the other. To my knowledge, there's only one unintended ending, where you manage to trap yourself instead of reaching the Escape Pod.

Raphael went for the Freedom ending and thought that was the entire game.
The Raphael Parable is my favorite game, having facilitated by way of its existence the legendary shutdown of Raphael himself. As a game, it does not overstay it's welcome, because it takes up the second half of a 6 minute trailer. Every part of the game serves to facilitate the author's intent, making it the most perfect game ever made, and surely the most _interactive_ experience Raphael has ever had.
