Me making this was the FIRST time I ever touched a crochet needle 😂 I was determined to gift my husband a sweater vest for our anniversary, found this tutorial and I am actually writing this after completing the project! Apart from my gift of being 💫delulu💫, I have only this really really greart tutorial to thank!! (Because I am NOT gifted at things like these at all, always was the girl with the ugliest handwriting in the class etc. haha.) The instructions are just soooo well done and the end result is so wearable for anyone really! Needless to say I followed and have a new hobby 🧶
the tutorial is so clear, at the first time im into crocheting i really hate the ribbing part, now after i watch this tutorial i think im gonna adding a ribbing part to all my wearable crochet project 😂
Hi, great turorial, but with this dark colour, it is really hard to tell where you are working some stitches. Especially the first row after ribbing, where it you are placing an extra dc somewhere inside the ridge, but it is really not clear where. Chosing lighter colour for turorials would be better.
Sorry that it was hard for you to see! For the first row after ribbing, it actually doesn't matter the exact space you go into. There aren't actual stitches there, so you just have to know how to count rows, and I made sure to show how to! Thanks for the suggestion; I'll keep it in mind for future tutorials!
just finished making mine and it came out really well! the tutorial was super clear, i made mine a little smaller and two tone. can't wait to make more!
The vest base is amazing and very easily adjustable! I made my mother a crew neck vest based on this pattern and for the ribbing, I simply hdc'd into each row edge and fpdc bpdc on the next row (for the sleeves I did two rows). I used some random DK weight wool/acrylic blend that my aunt gave me and then some Red Heart Detroit (also courtesy of my aunt) for the ribbing on the bottom, neck, and sleeves.
Thank you so much! Ive watched about 20 tutorials so far and your tutorial is the only one I've understood! Im about to begin this project and I was just wondering, How long does this roughly take to finish this project?
Made a vest using two different colors. After three attempts I figured I had to adjust the body to start with only two stitches instead of three going around the bottom ribbing since it was not laying flat at all. After that it was pretty easy. I loved how the v-neck ribbing turned out. Thank you for this tutorial! 🥹
I made guage swatches with a 5.5mm, 5mm, 4mm, 3.75mm, AND 3.5mm hook, and none of them worked. 3.5 was the closest. I got 10 cm from the double crochets, but the rows always come out way longer. So I get a rectangle and not a square that is 10x10cm
Hiya! Have you got a written pattern at all? I want to make this but checkered so thinking to read through I’d be able to adjust/work out rows and what not. Thanks for your wonderful pattern either way 🙂
did you ever figure this out?? i only have the armhole ribbing left now and am gonna be a bit gutted if i’ve followed this whole tutorial and then can’t finish it due to this missing bit :(
U explain every part very carefully.... I loved it ❤ .... But mam whenever I try to make it I don't know how but it seems with lots of gaps I mean your stitches are very attached 😮 howww please give me suggestions for this problem 😢 I made lots of things of crochet still I am unable to understand how it happens 😭 plzzzzzzz suggest or make any video plzzz mam
there are always going to be small gaps between stitches that show when you stretch the work because thats just how double crochet is. if you want to minimize it then use a smaller hook and crochet with tighter tension, or just use single/half-double crochet instead
Hey Viv! Really love the project. I'm kinda stuck at making the armholes though and would so appreciate your help; How do you get from 10:46 to 10:48? Do you just turn the top around or did you crochet across? I've tried to figure it out but it just wouldn't enter my brain 😄x
Sorry about that! 10:48 picks up right after 10:08. I just put in a different clip of me doing the double crochet 3 together stitch because when I actually did it, it was hard to see.
please can you explain how to go about doing the ribbing on the arm holes!? i get it will be similar to the others but how do i attach my yarn, etc - why is there no section for this bit!
Sorry, I didn’t show it because we already learned how to attach yarn. It’s at the 15:30 mark! Attach it anywhere along the armhole, chain 1, single crochet around, and slip stitch. Then, chain 6 and half double crochet in the 2nd chain from hook and across (for 5 half double crochets), and slip stitch 2 together. And from there it’s identical to the neckline!
@@VivCrochetsthank you so much I'm crying right now because of the ribbing part but I saw this comment this is exactly what I needed right now thank youuu
Hi all! I aspire to be an online crochet tutor one day, but I need a little practice first. So, if anyone needs any help with anything related to crocheting, PLEASE let me know about any questions you may have. I LOVE helping people out with this sort of thing! Thank y’all in advance!! 😊🧶
what did you meassure for the width? i dont want it to be too boxy so im not sure if bust size is the right one... Edit: oops, skipped over the "make sure it fits over the widest part of our body" part 😅😅
I'm sorry the transition is crazy here 10:10 So, to start a new row for the armhole part, do I chain 2 after the last row and then do the double crochet 3 together(or just two if i considered the chain as a dc)? Then double crochet before the last 3 stiches and dc 3 together again.
For me, it’s just took 1 huge skein of yarn from hobby lobby for the whole thing! But, u might need more or less depending on ur yarn, hook, and tension!
Very sorry but for the arm holes you said you did 3 rows right to left, left to right, right to left, so when you do the v neck why do you start right to left would that be a even row not a odd row like 3 hope this makes sense I just can’t get my head round this
Stupid beginner question: do you guys actually manage to always count the rows and the stiches? Whenever I see a tutorial and it's like "oh so I did 54 stiches" I'm like... How did you count? 😢
Stitch markers, row counters and patience 😅. I personally don't count every row if its a large section of repeats, I count every few rows and if its wrong it's my punishment to frog it back and find the added/dropped stitches 😅
Could someone help me with the yarn? Does the whole finished project really only need 226g of yarn? And can I choose any yarn of the correct thinkness? Or does it have to be acrylic?
actually the total weight of all the yarn used will depend on its material, for example the same yardage of cotton is going to be heavier than acrylic. but yes you can use any material you want (it will affect the drape and stretch of the vest of course)
I want to do large size how much chain should i make can u please give measurement for L size and XL ..i want to do this to my hubby and gift him ...but i am not getting correct measurement please do help me..thank you ..i loved tbis pattern
Why do you mean ‘be sure to leave extra space for the ribbing’? That sounds like something I have to do- surely the pattern allows for this? I’m really confused by the back shaping section…
Does anyone know how many SCs to make for each armhole before doing the ribbing? I was thinking 76 because there are 19 rows on each side (19x2= 38) and two stitches per row (38x2=76) In the pattern, she said she got 56 rows of ribbing after SC all around, but I can’t figure out how. I even wrote out the math on my phone😅

hello i love your tutorials!! how much yarn in weight did you use? :)
Hi, thank you! I used 226 grams of medium weight yarn
what changes needed to make to make the vest a little longer? (needed 180 single crochet in one row to fit my body).
waw, thank you so much
How many „meters“ yarn did you need for this project?
hello! may I ask what ply did you use? thanks so much!
Very very nice
She goes a great job of explaining, but between the dark yarn and the dark table, it’s hard to see what she’s doing.
If I adjust the size will this work for a man too? I mean do you think the style is unisex?
Yes!
Hi, Do you think that I can make this using Nimbus bulky cotton yarn?
Hey, i don't understand the arm ribbing part. Can you explain from which stitch i am supposed to start the ribbing in arms
Hey, how much yarn did you use? Could really see it in the video.

You’re right! I think I may have just turned it inside out. Sorry for the continuity error!
Medium is like 4 ply right?
İs it okay if the stitch number is 2 times the number of rows of ribbing ? Like I did 64 rows and when I count the stitches it was 128
Stupid beginner question: do you guys actually manage to always count the rows and the stiches?

I say you don’t need to block if you like how it looks right after finishing. You can block it if you want it to drape better!
Hi, how would you do the ribbing for the arm hole as it was not shown in the video thanks
What ply is impeccable yarn?
Does this pattern work with half double crochet all around? Because double crochet for my yarn weight since it’s chucky is mesh like

Why do you mean ‘be sure to leave extra space for the ribbing’? That sounds like something I have to do- surely the pattern allows for this? I’m really confused by the back shaping section…
That’s only if you decide to adjust the pattern! If you’re the same size as me and using similar yarn and hook, you can follow it exactly
In the tutorial you say that in your case you need 82 cm for the widest part but then you measure 66. Why this difference?
I really wanna make a vest but ribbing takes forever 😭
Yes but it’s worth it 😊
For me the armhole par stiching is not clear (I don't understand do I put stiches in right stiches) so my vest has cups :/
Thanks for the tutorial. A lighter background would be more helpful to see the stitches better
I got a really thin yarn that too acrylic...can anyone of u pls suggest what could be made out of it😢

Why does it need to be in increments of 8?
It’s so we can have equal stitches when we split the front and back and then for each side of the v-neck!
