"Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter.
About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊
In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end.
I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't make it into the MV.
"What" is still in my top 3 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me.
Fly High is a prequal to Chase Me, so I think the music is more pop than rock to reflect innocence before they become trapped and corrupted! I love the way the MV becomes darker as it goes along. Great story-telling! ❤
100% agree, Dreamcatcher has amazing styling. Their relay dances really demonstrate how well they do the outfits in the same family styling.

I think the You and I outfits remind you of the white ones in Scream and the black ones give a BOCA vibe with the straps. It's funny What was the one you liked most on first listen, that one took a bit for me and Fly High was my fave (also I loooove finding fellow Sua biases ☺)

You're not alone, I like the melody but the overall in the song isn't what I really like. Tbh Fly High is my bottom 2 fav for MVs
