Chris & Layne come from the same general area, with much of the same Roots and are from the same Genre, among other similarities, they also are obviously very different in many ways its amazing that they both ended up being in many or most Rock & Roll fan's top 3-5 almost without fail across the board. They're both Amazing, Natural Stars, with Huge Voices, Dynamic Voices, they both had great range, it seems Chris may have had a touch more abilities in reality but then Layne had that bit more of grit & gravel in his voice. Many people would argue one over the other and vice versa for all kinds of reasons. They're both legendary and always will be. R.I.P.
Of course I love Soundgarden and everything that CC does, but I have to say, I am so very impressed with Matt Cameron for his superb drumming AND backup vocals. That is not an easy feat!!
You know when Chris Cornell started in a band he was the singer and the drummer. I am not saying this to diminish Matt, which is the best drummer I know. Just to point out what Chris did.
@@lilylowsky He was one of kind, wasn't he? I don't understand when people say he was underrated. It was his choice not to be in an arena band, to be more close with audience, join music festivals as Lolapalooza, and not to have a celebrity act. So, people who liked his music, ultimately liked him. We feel like he was someone close, so we know this kind of details of his life. And another thing that was amazing: he was introspective, but always kind and gentil with interviewers, reporters, always saying "thank you" to them. And giving the same answers to the same questions, a real truth teller.
@@adriana4489 that’s so true! I actually met him through a meet and greet through IfOnly ; we had 15 minutes alone with him; it was like talking to an old friend. I am so glad I did this ❤️

The music in 'Been Away Too long' is really cool sounding. I love Cornell's voice as much as anyone, heck, he's probably my favorite musician, but let's acknowledge the rest of Soundgarden once in a while.
Incomparable Chris Cornell with Legendary band. All members are legends in their own right. Still heartbroken but blessed by the huge catalogue that I still listen to every day.
Chris was always gorgeous.. I have a poster of him from the early Soundgarden days- shirtless with those black curls framing his body. That poster hung on my wall through my marriage and 14 years with my last boyfriend. And still there. Chris is not gone; he’s there every time I push Play
Listening to Rusty so many years after it was written reminds me why they were named Soundgarden. It's so discordant and yet arranged perfectly. The whole thing drives forward relentlessly.
I'm jealous of children who haven't been born yet, who will have all this awesome footage to watch of this phenomenal artist, unlike the grainy footage I had to endure as a child to investigate the likes of Led Zeppelin, Rosetta Tharpe, The Doors, The Beatles et al. Jesus, don't be so dramatic. You didn't even know the man personally. I hope you are this traumatized when an actual loved one dies...you are setting the bar pretty high., I am upset he is gone..but how many other human beings passed just on the same day? Because he is an artist he is special even in death? Nope. God doesn't care how many Grammy's you have but whether you died in a state of sanctifying grace. That should be your only focus.
Dude, you can't say that bro, this is deep because people connected with Chris, he was a rare reality in an industry that is all about bullshit. He cut through that bullshit and touched people straight to the heart. The entire rock world is all about that, conveying real talent instead of manufactured pop, his music meant something, it wasn't just a vehicle to make money like all the pop artists out there who don't even write their own shit, their music means nothing, it's just written to make money and that's basically it. That's why rock listeners would be so down that he's gone, there's an intelligent connection there, people understood that they were listening to him and not some songwriting team and a load of producers. People also heard him for their own personal first time, who knows what was going on their lives at that time, they might have made a personal connection between what difficulties they might have been having with the music and it maybe helped them escape from those difficulties for a while. I don't know but there are so many reasons why someone might be so passionate about his passing. I still think it's a total bummer and it's months after he went. I've never been affected by any celebrity's death but here I am still mourning someone I never personally knew or met. Nobody is saying other people didn't die on the same day, of course they did, for you to point that out is both silly and patronising. I'm not trying to have a go at you brother, my desire to be Zen is strong but I had to comment because you're killing someone's energy bro, please don't do that. We all live, and we all love, don't put down someone's love for this guy, he meant a lot to a lot of people whether they knew him personally or not. I know you're an intelligent person from how you wrote your comment, but sometimes intelligence forgets about emotion, it's an important part or life, I've been guilty of ignoring it too because I thought it wasn't manly to observe it. No offence to you, no argument desired, Peace.
Soundgarden sound as if they never stopped! Chris sounds as good as ever and the band is still so tight. Kim looks like your local street corner drug dealer!!..hahaha
His time with Audioslave was awesome, but so many live performances in a band that wasn't exactly fitted for him, so loud that he had to really scream to be heard, almost ruined his voice. He rebuild it, piece by piece, and when we saw him in Soundgarden, a hard rock with very talented musicians, he seems finally at home. And his voice reached a new, mature, stunning peak. And he became an effortless singer/frontman melodic guitarist again. I love Audioslave records, but Soundgarden was the best band for him.
SG was made of legendary musicians, no one then are less than the best, and of course, the frontman, CC best lyricist, songwriter, singer, and musician with that perfect melodic guitar.
