    I am happy you enjoyed this film. I did too, even with my tiny critiques. I agree with ALMOST everything you said...But! I actually really liked that they didn't acknowledge having sex the next day. I feel like they both knew what it meant, and so nothing needed to be said. As a viewer it made me very happy to not see a female character distracted by sex or act differently towards the guy becasue they had sex. While sex did evolve their relationship, she's still Wonder Woman, he's still a spy, and they still have a war to fight. They obviously loved eachother and I think it read on camera in its silence.
    Love your videos btw!! My favorite person on youtube, patreon, and go90

    • @calibaby6913
      @calibaby6913 7 років тому +2

      100% agree with you! I thought that was awesome that they didn't feel the need to have some cliche dumb frat boy scene of "ohh Steve got some yea boi" or a cliche scene of them acting awkward to each other the next day. Diana would not have been acting awkward or embarrassed anyway it would have been OOC for her, same goes for if the guys teased them, Steve would be of course embarrassed, but she would have been like why is this funny or asking Steve why he's acting embarrassed/odd. It was nice to see actual adults on screen who had sex then the next morning went right back to focusing on the mission at hand.

    Just going to say, adults who have casual sex typically don't make a big deal out of it after the fact. IMO I thought the hook up in the movie was done tastefully and I appreciated the fact that it didn't serve up any cringe worthy/sexist tropes afterwards.

      Evan Johnson yea I agree it would've felt out of place

    • @Menuki
      @Menuki 7 років тому +6

      yes, but military squad mates do make a big deal of it. This is the first woman they've seen in months and she's gorgeous showing a lot of skin for that era.
      Yet no one would have been shipping them? No wink, wink nudge, nudge towards Chris. Arguably Diana may not have seen a reason to be embarrassed by it at all. Surprised he would have survived night. Her first time and all being super powered; she could have destroyed him, literally.

    • @YoItsEmo
      @YoItsEmo 7 років тому +1

      Menuki I understand your point but I'm personally still glad they didn't pander to this mindset. I would argue that those fighting in wars are by and large, very young. The characters in the film however were professionals who had been at this for years. I agree the possibility of the joke was there, but IMO they had already spent the immaturity on the previous dick jokes.

    • @Menuki
      @Menuki 7 років тому +2

      It's not a joke to be made, it's something that normal people do. I've had Lts and XOs call me out on this kind of thing. Military units are more brothers than they are professional.
      By most accounts, congratulations would be in order. You can do it subtly, Diana walks out the inn; scene cuts back to Chris and the unit starts grinning at him and he says "dismissed" but a bit shaken or embarrassed. Hell, a unit would do this to someone even if nothing happened.

    • @YoItsEmo
      @YoItsEmo 7 років тому

      Menuki I hear ya. IMO I think it would have been more in line with the tone of the movie if the bro moment could have been between Diana and another woman, maybe a villager introduced the night of to point out Pines attractiveness and set up the later payoff.
      Maybe we'll get some deleted scenes that show both.

      I thought the last part was great, probably my favorite part of the film. Patty Jenkins clearly delights in showing off her superhero's superpowers, and it showed. Every action scene is exhilarating, especially the last one as it showed just how powerful Wonder Woman can be. The only complaint I had was that I thought they could've added some more moves for Ares, made him fight a little and let him talk less. But that's it. What didn't you like about it?

    Saw it early, it was OK, the textbook "good, not great" movie. Fell apart in the third act COMPLETELY. Messed up its central themes at times but it was fun and simple and certain moments just worked, some people gave their best performances, Gal was alright at best at being WW but it's better than a total failure.

  • @SchlrFtrRkMystc

    Can we be honest though? Of all the sex scenes in history that sex scene is the one I wanted to see most... not cause I'm hot for Gadot, but because HOW does the incarnation of the empowered woman losing her virginity to a man, yet having studied sexuality extensively, and having super powers look? Come on, folks, we all wanna know... If ever a sex scene told you character development and was relevant to the story it would be this one..

      @Rensune 7 років тому +3

      kaatyblue I didn't like Heath Ledger's portrayal.
      His character acted more like a Die Hard villain than the Joker.
      Plus, way too many people put death goggles on when judging his portrayal.
      It was good, but like Man of Steel's Superman, I didn't like their version of that character.

    • @theevermind
      @theevermind 7 років тому

      I was impressed with DK. But being impressed isn't the same thing as liking.
      It's so tedious and the characters are so stupid. The prisoner transfer scene infuriates me. It's established that the whole police dept is corrupt. And here's a guy who just murdered cops, and we think he's not going to "resist" (wink wink) and end up getting shot 108 times? And that's it. Movie's over.

    Maybe because *Wonder Woman* was created from *Clay*, she just kept that *Doughy* look? Why would a hero develop muscles, if they have a power source that fuels their prowess, instead of their muscles? I never understood why Superman had so many muscles, because he rarely has to use them...he's *Solar Powered*. Eh...comics.

      I do like to see muscles on heroes, especially ones like Wonder Woman, who was very into battle training, but I have also wondered why some heroes have muscles? What bothered me, was seeing her running like an average human, then all the sudden she jumps 20 feet up a wall.

Mainly that the pacing felt a little off, and the three supporting soldiers were absolutely ridiculous and so incredibly corny and pointless, they felt like something from another film.

    I don't think they necessarily had sex. It felt a bit like that Buffy and Spike moment before the big fight in the series finally where it's left deliberately vague, so fans can choose whether or not they feel the two had sex vs just spent the night, talking or sleeping in a cuddle etc. This way conservatives can appreciate the moment too.

      Honestly, While I haven't see the movie that's probably the most accurate Ares has ever been depicted his sons are literally Fear and Dementia, and he embodies the horrors and senseless death of war. Athena is god of battle strategy and Nike is the goddess of victory and glory.

    I enjoyed the movie, I do like movie about gods, but I do have the same problem with this movie as I do with most DC movies in that she had no real threat. She's basically indestructible so her only real threat is Ares and she didn't even break a sweat defeating a good so there was very little character growth imo.

    • @Leo-pw3kf
      @Leo-pw3kf 7 років тому

      Christopher Rocco her character growth was realizing wars can't be won through brute force because there is no ultimate "bad guy" behind everything.
      I mean... the real ending after the fake-out kinda ruined everything, but that was it.

    • @FernandesRafael1
      @FernandesRafael1 7 років тому

      Christopher Rocco she's a demi goddess. You think humans would be a threat mate? Seriously?

    • @christopherrocco56
      @christopherrocco56 7 років тому

      Leonardo Santos, you can't even justify that as the ending of the movie is her killing Ares and the soldiers end the war so the movie literally demonstrates the theme of everything can be solved with brute force, from the invaders on the island, to No Man's Land, to killing Ares, everything was solved with brute force.
      There were no consequences for her actions, for instances, no one is wounded or dies as a direct result of her actions. A building collapses on her and she isn't even breathing hard. The only, and I mean literally only, thing that she learns is not all men are a'holes as demonstrated by Steve Travor's sacrifice and of course some men are scared little cowards, as demonstrated by the sniper that can't kill.

    • @FernandesRafael1
      @FernandesRafael1 7 років тому

      Its wonder woman dude. you cant make humans be a threat to her, never. and no she wasn't haveing an easy time with Ares. even tho at the beggining he was not trying to kill her. he was trying to show her his point of view and turn her on her side to 'rebiuld' Earth. The turning point was when he told her to kill Doctor Poison- which she almost did. But she backed down. and from that moment she got her shit together and being the demi goddess she is she defeated him. she was one step into falling on Ares pep talk. After that turning point she was the Wonder Woman and finished him. but no before there she wasnt having it easy even tho Ares wasnt trying to kill her.

    I just watched Wonder woman, and it wasn't " good". but its the first DC film that has a proper storyline and is entertaining. but it stil suffers from over the top acrobatics and unnecessary CGI.
    I also found it impossible to ignore how nobody in the movie is surprised or amazed at a woman that can lift tanks, jump like 20 meters high and stop bullets. everyone acts as if it were normal.
    Also Ares being a GOD, should have been saved for a future film,.opportunity totally wasted there.. but well.. it's not a bad film, but it's not as good as I thought it would be since it got a lot of praise. It's a film to watch once, but I wouldn't watch it again.
    but hopefully it's the first step for WB to improve their DC films.

    • @Fieongoodness
      @Fieongoodness 7 років тому +1

      Congratulations to anyone who can muster up the time and energy to stay fit while pregnant. I sincerely mean this. It's not always easy. But I'm going to try and put this in perspective.
      Serena Williams has been a professional athlete for about 20 years. She's amazing to behold. But not everybody thinks this way. Still, she shrugs them off, because she's not being paid for how she looks. She's being paid for how well she performs on a tennis court. And she can play on any tennis court, provided: she pees in a cup and follows the rules.
      Simple.
      For an actress, it's an entirely different world. An actress can be denied a role for being too big, too small, too tall, too foreign, not foreign enough, or being too muscular. There are a number of reasons (arbitrary or not), but actors are expected to anticipate them and conform. Like a chameleon, really. So Gal Gadot did the training. She went from supermodel skinny to toned. Not huge. Why? Because even Linda Hamilton said she regretted getting that good into shape. And I can't blame her given the physical demands of her profession. Being an actor you're not always going to be picked because of your ability. Especially in Hollywood. Looks factor into it. If you're not 'femine' looking enough, you might not get the job.
      So Gal Gadot rode the edge. She got bigger, but not too much. She learned how to ride a horse, swing a sword, and did a couple hundred push ups while on a carefully watched diet until she got pregnant. By then...the contracts were signed and she made a commitment and stuck to it. So on top of shooting for 16 hours a day, the fatigue of pregnancy, the diet demanded by her changing body versus the diet to maintain a hero's physique, and the studio pressure that she be sexy as well...? I'm sorry, I'm going to give her a pass for not appearing bigger.

    I find that she had muscle, but given that she's the tall lanky type, it didn't have much bulk to it. But I'd rather have a good actress that looks fit enough than a bodybuilder who looks the part but can't act for shit. Sure, I'd like it if she were a bit more muscular, but I'd like her more to be healthy and not ruin her body with anabolics :/

      There's a disgusting misunderstanding on female body. Visible muscular contour is not just about muscle mass, but also the absence of fat in that region. That's why even though Olympic marathoner don't do intensive training for their arm, you'd still see their muscular bump on their arm. It's because their body is so generally low-fat. Male body is naturally lower in fat, and thus a fit man will easily have visible muscle. Female body is different and they usually need to crash harder with specific diet/regimen that starve/restrict the body's ability to make/store fat. It's messed up to judge a woman's body with masculine standards.

    The script in Wonder Woman was so hokey.
    Ares should win an award as the least interesting villain ever. Why would the Greek god of war decide he wants to dress up as Arthur Weasley and moonlight as a British government official for years on end? Is that really the most exciting thing he could come up with?
    The gas huffing General and the little mad scientist were about as sinister as, say, Count Chocula and Plankton.
    Gal Gadot was excellent, but this script was just simplistic corny crap, not to mention a poor emulation of the first Captain America movie.

Sorry but damage already done.

      Midget Spinner! I've watched thousands of movies, thanks. Most of those movies are non-blockbuster and classic, indie or foreign. I'm quite satisfied with my cinephile level.
      I'm sorry you didn't pay attention to BvS to notice the subtle currents of narrative and character that weave through the film and saw it only for its climax.
      It sounds like you buy into generalized narratives spouted by others based on your response.
      If you want to experience movies to their fullest and witness what the medium is capable of, you should try to be more generous in your viewing and think about what you watch, looking forward to multiple viewings. I suspect your movie viewing is based mainly on the usual popular Hollywood fare, you might want to diversify your diet. Many Hollywood movies are greats and masterpieces, but there are many other movies out there that help adjust your mindset. Here's a list of the best I've found:
