    Stellar Video Yo...

I personally like to use Melodyne selectively... there is definitely some tonal change that happens when you Melodyne a section, and while those artifacts are getting less noticeable every year, they are still there. So I only cut the section of vocals I want to edit, and be sure to leave the "perfect" takes as is. Mass editing tends to just leave a me more work than I usually want. Also to smooth out pitchy vocals you showed how to blend them using the note tuning tool, and also the modulation tool, but you can also literally cut the blob where the pitch is entering a new "zone" and then its often times easier to pitch blend or de modulate to make it sound smoother. Also, for those who have never tried it, deessing in Melodyne is a literal breeze. Thanks for the video man, I really enjoyed it!

This is the single most helpful melodyne tutorial I've seen on youtube. Thank you for working through a real studio session example, the before and after is night and day. I really see what you meant when you said melodyne is meant to clarify a good vocal, not correct a bad one. Subscribed, cheers!

Is this a video about melodyne, or an advertisement for what a wonderful engineer you are? I am halfway through this love affair with yourself, and you have yet to open the software. Brutal video!!

Would you track vocals using a compressor in the box? (Input FX), If you don't have hardware compressor!
YOUR Melodyne tutorial is absolutely brilliant, Thank you

You definitely could! I always fall victim to tweaking the compressor after the recording if I'm using a plug in.
Whereas if you're tracking with hardware it's committed from the moment it hits Pro Tools. The less opportunities for second guessing the better haha

can you make a video where you mix and master a pop song from start to finish, I am not able to find such tutorials on youtube

I would like to know how would you address a vocal that you didn't record but you recieved to mix. Would you still run it through the preamp and 76 compressor to balance it before tuning? And why are you tuning on solo?

Luckily, I don't edit anything I haven't recorded. Every once in a while I will edit something I haven't recorded, but I have to take a moment to assess it beforehand to see if it's worth it.
If whoever recorded it can't edit it themselves that might be a red flag in my book. If it's uneditable to them, it should probably be rerecorded.
If I was in that scenario though the 1176 could be used to bring in the dynamics of a performance before Melodyne. It would really depend on what the client sends over.
I'm tuning in solo so I can hear clearly what's going on. :)

Crazy. Super impressed. I mean this is not really how they should tune. This is lazy work man. It will sound unnatural and fake
