It's an old recipe pushed by commercial food manufacturers ever since these canned onion and soup products have been around. Easy to make a much healthier version from scratch.
Justine, nice idea. I think if you had drizzled some melted butter on top and covered with foil the first half of baking it would have been so much better.

Looks delish…the crunch sounded like stuffing didn’t get moist. What if you put stuffing in a bowl to “wet” with broth before adding to top? Might still have some crunch but eliminate the “raw” stuffing mouth feel.

Man that looks delicious, i love the idea of stuffing on top. But mixing the onion crisps in would make them soggy 🥺 but, clearly those can just go on top after baking for people who struggle with textures 😆😝
Last year I made it almost the same way. I used frozen green beans, cream of onion, cream of bacon, 3 cheese blend, bacon bits, sour cream, vegetable broth, diced onions and stove top cornbread mix and all the same seasonings. Should have made more. Got wiped out. Very unhealthy but it was once a year holiday side dish so what.
This is the kind of thing that I would find in the fridge when I come home AND EAT THE WHOLE THING, and then get hell in the morning from my wife. I know stove top isn't to everyone's liking, but I LOVE to make a box from time to time, because it's quick, easy, very filling, and no mess to deal with. Stove Top has gotten me through many a long shifts at the restaurant because I burn so many calories walking nonstop for hours. If I know I'm going to be the closing waiter, I throw some of that in me and I'm good for hours on end.

Her way I would put the cream of soup, broth, seasonings cheese all together in a sauce pan and heat it all together till tge cheese is melted then add beans and anything else and bake. That's just me but with different ingredients
Please stop adding ingredients to those poor green beans, they'll taste like everything but green beans! And I don't think this is an unexpensive dish!!
I might suggest low sodium versions of the soup and broth, because the recipe's gotta be a day's worth of sodium per serving, and I really doubt I'd eat just ONE serving!

My 83 yr old mother has ditched mushroom soup in favor of cream of bacon soup. I haven't tried it yet but believe it would make anything taste better!

Green beans are legumes. All beans are legumes, but not all legumes are beans. I am also allergic to beans, but not legumes. Hope that helps!
