A very special place. I appreciate that both you and Gavin didn't tell the world where this is. It isn't a place for a lot of people at once. I know this place well. It's hard to shoot, because everywhere you look... it's beautiful.
A very magical place to photograph....the light, textures, Swamp Cypress trunks and Spanish Moss seems to create an etheral feel to all your images...thank you for sharing this - Julia
As much as I've enjoyed your previous videos, it was refreshing to see a photographer such as yourself to explore and learn in an environment unfamiliar to you and many others. The backlit moss on the cypress trees in many of your images were stunning. Finally a new place that's not a beach, woodland, hillside or somewhere that's frozen. Thank You!!!
The photo at 4:50 is Off the Charts spectacular ! I would hang that photo on my wall which is the highest compliment I could give. Great job considering the boat conditions. 👌🌟
Your photographs are spectacular! You amaze me…over and over! I cant pick a favorite! Where are you! I want to travel there!!! Thanks for taking me along!
I love them all. Choosing one, I believe it is the 17th in the series. 4 cypresses grouped with the trunk visible at the surface of the water. Wonderful grouping.
Absolutely fantastic bunch of images. My favorite was at 11:57. The wind blowing the moss gave it some dynamism, which I think more than made up for the less smooth water.
Love all the photos. If I must choose one it will be the one with light green plants at the bottom of trees contrasted with white moss and autumn leafs in the background , so stunning! 11:57
Sorry for what it might seem a silly question Michael but, is now fall in Texsas and was the video shot inthe last few days/weeks. do you know how long does the season and the colors last?
I have always enjoyed your videos, and this one is no exception. As a bonus I also follow Gavin and seeing his first I was wondering how yours would be different. All of your photographs were unique and engaging...didn't get tired looking at them. One thing I noticed that was also enjoyable was the difference is music back tracks. Gavin used tracks with what I call a bayou vibe whereas your was a soft and classical piano. I think BOTH enhanced the viewing experience. I like your mellow, observational narration and instruction.
WOW i luv Gavins photography but after watching his videos and yours i have to say you SMASHED it with your photos, they are so nice, maybe its because you are comfortable shooting handheld and higher ISO's
So loved this video! I do a huge amount of my shooting from a kayak. Preparing the shot as you drift by is a must. Letting the wind do your work is always nice, but it means a lot of thinking ahead and planning the shot. I find to get a sharp image 200/sec is minimum in a moving kayak shooting from 100-600mm. Love your work!
I know exactly where you were. I have been photographing the area since since 2010 and only found out about this lake two years ago. Definitely my comfort zone. Mountains are what I have the most trouble shooting. You are correct, it is challenging but worth it. My kayak tripod is 9 pounds and has holes drilled near the feet to allow water in and out quickly. It works very well.
Gavin still owes you. Thank you for posting. Very interesting location. Nothing like that back here in Australia. You are so calm compared to Gavin the Chocolate Gobbler.
You captured some really amazing photos Michael. I can't say that I would choose one of the others because each one is unique and they all look fantastic.
Stunning images!! The image that grabbed me the most was on the top row all the way to the right. The thin greenish shoreline that went all the way across the image grounded it nicely. Can't wait to see more!
This video and these photos are just incredible, Michael! I’m dying to shoot this place in the fall and I loved seeing your experience there and now know a tiny bit better what to expect!
That was a beautiful piece, Michael - looking forward to episode 2! Cypress swamps look so different to my Northern Rockies landscapes - I have to make it a bucket list place!
Very nice! Caddo was spectacular this year. I was there for a week Nov. 5th. I installed oar locks on my canoe and find it improves stability and control.
Great video man. Those pictures are really intriguing. Once the ice comes off the water I'm hoping to get out in my canoe and give this a Shot. Cheers from Alberta Canada.
How exciting for you to have a new challenge and add these amazing images to your catalog. Although I love reflections, I found myself gravitating more towards to the ones in the breeze with the moss moving. Composition, stories and memories trump sharpness for me which I guess is a good thing sometimes!
Very nice job! I go there every year and recognize that location, great job in capturing it. Too bad it's getting so crowded. There are other great areas around the lake.
Thank you for sharing this lovely video, Michael! You never disappoint! I will have to try this type of photography in the swamps and springs where I live. It's literally impossible to pick a favorite - I like 1, 12, 13, and 15 in particular.
Hi Michael, great video as usual. Your photos are wonderful and your narration is very good. My wife and I are visiting our daughter in Texas in April and I would like to visit the swamps. I see a lot of them are near the gulf. Would you mind sharing which one you were at? Thanks Michael, I love all of your videos.
All beautiful, but the first and second from the left in the bottom row were my favorites. Thank you for taking me along to this magical place! Would you be willing to say which marsh/lake it is?
Most of your photos looks like a painting from an artist, and that is what you are Michael.
Wow, thank you so much Michel!
Prerequisite#1 : early riser

My favorite was the bottom row, middle image. The simplicity of the photo with the shadows draw me in the most.
They all look like beautiful paintings.
I liked them all but several of them have a very ethereal quality to them that is just gorgeous
Magical photos ❤
I love them all. Choosing one, I believe it is the 17th in the series. 4 cypresses grouped with the trunk visible at the surface of the water. Wonderful grouping.
The colours in these photos were absolutely beautiful.😍 I love how you notice the different textures. The bayou is so peaceful. ♥️

Wow, what beautiful pictures, colors and scene, well done love it.

Some amazing shots. Favs @ 7.30 and 13.50. Excellent.
They were all my favorites. You are truly an artist.
Stunning!
You are absolutely the GOAT. Your creativity and vision is nothing short of amazing. Thanks for another fantastic vlog.
Amazing images!! Thanks for taking me along!

Magical! Warm vs. Cold ie. Orange on Grey/Blue/Black is just beautiful and then back lit on top of that..!! Love it 100%! 👍
Thanks, glad you like it!
Exquisite work. All these photographs are enthralling.
Absolutely beautiful 😍
just beautiful, enchanted, magical. Love it.....
Really cool shooting environment! Its own unique beauty! Really enjoyed this video.
Different level Man !! 👏👏👏
Wonderful photos of a remarkable location. I was there last summer during an intense thunderstorm. Looking forward to returning
Truly wondrous images Michael. many thanks for sharing !
Whoa, these are some stunning shots, well done!
Lots of great photos in here, 5 and 13 on the grid at the end stand out but great points of interest across all of them.
Fabulous set. I love your style and these are so neat. I’m surprised by the variety from dark and moody to some bright and cheerful. Wow.
Unreal stuff! Great work!
These photos are spectacular! The colors are just beautiful.
thank you :)
What a relaxing (for the viewer) and beautiful video. Loved all the photos. The color and texture were incredible. Thanks for taking us along.
So many beautiful photos! Impressive!
Thanks so much!

What a beautiful video! And wow wow wow that image at 11:13 is absolutely gorgeous! 😍
Using a tripod in a canoe must have been a challenge….beautiful photos as always from you. Thanks!
Excellent video, Michael! Always a great time watching
Thank you michael 🔝👏🏻📸
This was great! Really beautiful shots!!
Awesome captures and video. Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s a great inspiration.😊
The photo in the top right of the grouping was my favorite! The lighting on those two trees with that color just stood out to me! Amazing work!
Wow! Some of the best shots I've ever seen from down there! Love the different colors and the moss blowing in the wind. Really on my bucket list now.

Absolutely love this spot. I too went nice and early in November once and had the lake to myself it seemed. Great images too
They're all lovely photos. Interesting to see how both you and Gavin came to a new location and came away with photos in your own styles.
Stunning images!! The image that grabbed me the most was on the top row all the way to the right. The thin greenish shoreline that went all the way across the image grounded it nicely. Can't wait to see more!
You killed it! Great images, man! Fun to see this come together!
Thanks so much man, such a fun time!
This video and these photos are just incredible, Michael! I’m dying to shoot this place in the fall and I loved seeing your experience there and now know a tiny bit better what to expect!
I love all of these pictures, they are all damn beautiful. I wish I can see this by myself, I am a little bit jealous 🙂
Awesome images Michael, those colours and textures😮 I always really like your telephoto work, very inspiring. Another great vid👏
Hallo Fromm Austria! Absolute amazing pictures!👍
Beautiful photos, really inspires me as a photographer myself :)
Thanks Michael! Beautiful shots! Too hard for me to have a favorite. Thanks for all of the hard work you do to share with us!
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed them!
Beautiful shots Michael
awesome images Michael!
That was a beautiful piece, Michael - looking forward to episode 2!
Cypress swamps look so different to my Northern Rockies landscapes - I have to make it a bucket list place!
All beautiful! I really like to see how you work your composition throughout the video !
You keep making me choose! I'd say #5 or the upper-right corner: Isolated single tree. #2 is the 10th or second row far-right: Colors. More please!
Thanks Brian, glad you liked those ones! More to come soon!
Very nice! Caddo was spectacular this year. I was there for a week Nov. 5th. I installed oar locks on my canoe and find it improves stability and control.
Lovely shots, Michael! Really enjoyed how you worked the scene with a wide variety of comps🔥

Just arrived after watching the fototripper video. Both videos have inspired me to hit the swamps here in the fall (I live in SC). Great video!
really amazing images!
Beautiful results Michael! Pretty tough to choose a favorite, they’re all masterpieces! Probably my favorite is at 10:10. 🙌
Your fotos are 2nd to none. Just gorgeous man. Makes me want to get out and make a new video😂😅
That means a ton to hear thanks so much!
Absolutely beautiful! Gavin could learn a thing or two if he would just watch your videos 😂
Love your photos…. The knob on the top of the paddle is for your top hand- for leverage 😬
All exquisite 👍
Very nice job! I go there every year and recognize that location, great job in capturing it. Too bad it's getting so crowded. There are other great areas around the lake.
Stunning. Way better than Gavin’s photos.

gorgeous
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
"You’re not going to get it right away" - spoken just after showing us 15 world-class images from your first time out.
Loved this. What time of year were you there?
Thanks I was there in Autumn of last year.
Splendid work my friend, Nice vídeo 👏👏
Awesome work!
thank you!
Amazing images from both you and Gavin, the Bayou looks amazing...terrifying have all that gear in a canoe though!
A little nerve-racking at times for sure haha, thanks so much!
Funny, because it looks a lot like Caddo Lake, on the border of Texas and Louisiana - see book - Photographers Guide to Caddo Lake. Nice photos!
Awesome 😎
These are some amazing shots… frankly, I preferred your images over Gavin’s 😊

I've been waiting for this! These are fabulous - all of them!! Thank you for sharing them with us.
Definitely an inspiration! any change you'll capture the bixby creek bridge? love to see your take.
So much better than Gavin😂😂😂
I enjoy watching you both
