Mam, is there any clinical grading for trismus using fingers admitted?
normal range of mouth opening is 40-60 mm. The width of index finger at the nail bed is 17-19 mm.Thus two finger breadth (40mm) to three finger breadth (54-57mm) is normal mouth opening. Trsmus has been graded as light/moderate/severe or grades 1 to 3, corresponding to mouth opening. If as per finger insertion ,mild is two fingers with difficulty, moderate one finger, and severe not even a single index finger.
