Battle Start:
'A mess of an existential plane sets the environment. Red, cuboid structures floated in the endless expanse of the Astral Plane, those same structures connected together by out-of-place subway tunnels, their concrete work interlaced with bright red veins, giant ones of which somehow crossed through the endless space.'
'A red, glitching portal appeared above one of these structures. Dropping down through it was Officer Howard, the Legionis. They scanned their surroundings, X-baton already in blaster mode, pointed out in case of sudden chimera attacks. Once assured they were not in immediate danger, they put a hand to the communications device on their shoulder, contacting their dispatcher.'
Olive: "Well Officer Howard, looks like you made it through alright. Those distorted readings certainly weren't lying. The Astral Plane is far from its usual empty self."
'The radio operator stared at her feed through the Legionis' body camera'.
Olive: "How are there human-built structures in there? Most material that gets in the plane gets distorted and broken down."
'Just then, they both spot someone. A young man wearing a black coat, a strange black and white mask on his face, standing at the entrance to one of the tunnels. He was holding a radio up in one hand, the other holding what appeared to be a pistol.'
'Joker stared out at the same endless expanse the Legionis had, listening to the chatter of his fellow Phantom Thieves over the radio.'
Ryuji: "So... did Mementos always look like this and we didn't know cause of the walls? Or...?"
Morgana: "Unlikely Skull. The MetaNav was acting weird when we entered here. Something must have gone wrong with the Metaverse for this to happen."
Makoto: "A possible theory, but we need more information before we make any assumptions. Has anyone found anything."
Ann: "Aside from some creepy red silhouettes mixed in with the Shadows? Not much. How about you Joker?"
'Joker was about to reply, when he spotted his watcher, his brow furrowed behind the mask for a moment, before his eyes opened wide at the unmistakable blue uniform running towards him.'
Legionis: "Police! Don't move!"
Futaba: "Joker? What's wrong? I'm getting a visual of your location. Just wait... What!? A cop!?"
Mona: "Cops!? Joker! Get out of there!"
'Not needing a second command, the leader stowed away his radio, turning to run back into the tunnel. Just as he did so, he saw a strange blue and white, bladed creature speedily float past him, a chain flowing behind it.'
'The Legionis gave a firm tug of their arm, directing the Blade Legion to circle the stranger, hoping to bind him in the chain before making an arrest.'
'Joker leapt forward, clearing over the chain as it swept past him. He rolled along the ground, jumping back up to take shots with his pistol at the chained being. The bullets bounced off it with sharp rings, causing it to aggressively roar at him, but still return to the side of its master.'
'The police officer and phantom thief faced each other down, weapons at the ready.'
Olive: "Officer Howard, I'm giving you permission to engage with force you deem appropriate. We don't know what this person is capable of, and need to apprehend them quickly."
Legionis: "Copy. Engaging target." 'They shifted their X-baton to baton mode, settling into a battle-ready posture as the Blade Legion growled and squirmed next to them.'
'Joker gave a slight smirk at the sight before him, slipping his knife into his free hand as he pointed his pistol forward at the enemy.'
Joker: "Showtime."
Battle End (Joker):
Joker: "Arsene!"
'The gentleman thief burst from the blue fire behind Joker, barreling straight toward the Legionis, Joker following right behind him. With wings spread wide, the persona collided with the Legionis and his Legion, knocking the two away.'
'Just as they stopped skidding, the Legionis felt a tug on their arm. They looked up, presuming it to be the Legion active again, but their eyes widened in horror at the sight of Joker holding the chain.'
'Joker smiled devilishly as he gripped the chain with both hand, Arsene standing by his side. He held it tightly, before he tugged it toward himself with one hand.'
'The Legionis watched in disbelief as their Legion was sent flying back towards their opponent. It tried to right itself mid-flight, but only lined itself up for Arsene to plunge his claws through its chest, his hand bursting out the other side holding the Legion's fidgeting core.'
'Joker maintained his smirk as Arsene crushed the core in his clawed hand, the Legion freezing in place before dissolving into blue Astral matter.'
'The Legionis could only stare, shocked, as the chain splintered into fragments of light. This was quickly disturbed however, as Joker said one simple word.'
Joker: "Begone."
A bullet came flying towards the Legionis. They tried to raise their X-baton up, a feeble attempt at blocking it.'
'The bullet went straight through their heart.'
'Joker stared at the collapsed Legionis with a now worried look on his face, as he watched strange red energy creep over the body, slowly enveloping it. He turned away from the abnormal, grizzly sight, walking back towards a subway tunnel as Arsene bowed, fading into blue flame.'
End (Legionis):
'Joker gasped as his knife swing was countered by the Axe legion's sudden appearance. It's shield sent him stumbling back, just before the Legionis' gladius mode X-baton sent him flying into the subway tunnel wall.
'As he bounced off the wall from the force of the impact, he was driven right back into it with a charge shot from the X-baton's blaster. He let out a yell of pain as shots from the Arrow Legion pinned him to the surface by his shoulders.'
'The Legionis swept his arm forward, the Beast Legion flying at Joker, a spinning, clawed ball that pressed against him, eliciting even more painful cries. Cracks formed on the concrete behind him from the impact.'
'Just as soon as the Beast Legion leapt back, the Arm Legion took its place, pulling a fist back to the punch the stunned Joker, blasting him through the cube he was pinned to.'
'Joker helplessly spun through the air, peering through the flying debris as his opponent came careening towards him.'
'The Legionis, their hair and eyes turned a bright, glowing blue, raised their X-baton in baton mode, whilst the Blade Legion flew alongside them, its own bladed limb raised to strike.'
'Joker tried to raise a hand to his mask, a name barely about to leave his lips, when the Legionis and Legion crossed past each other, an X shape cutting across Joker's form.'
'The Legionis landed firmly on the ground, the Blade Legion skidding along the surface, sparks thrown up by its bladed legs before it regained its levitation. They kept their faces turned away as the sound of Joker's body thudded to the ground. The Legionis wore a heavy expression, looking down as they dismissed their Legion, at the same time tapping their communications device.'
Legionis: "Officer Howard, reporting in. Suspect... deceased."

Only just found these tracks and could not resist writing something for this one in particular.
Astral Chain?!?! Never expected for a cops vs thieves theme where both go to alternate dimensions to slay monsters with style and summoning entities that are basically the same as the enemies but tamed. Oh, and they fight a god-like abomination at the end.
Wiz: The Cop and the Robber, a dynamic as old as time and a game that never got old.
Boomstick: Of course you can't really play that game these days without stepping on somebody's toes, but that's not going to be an issue with these two!
Wiz: Joker, the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Heart in Persona 5.
Boomstick: Legionis, Neuron Task Force Officer from Astral Chain.
Wiz: In this game of Cops and Robbers, will the thief make a clean getaway or will the long arm of the law dispense justice yet again?
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick...
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle!

Okay this is legit such a wonderful track. Astral Chain is a game that means a lot to me and seeing what a track could possibly sound like if the Legionis got featured on Death battle just feels so... fullfilling. More than ever I hope that at some point it gets on Death Battle. amazing job on the track and shout out to the comissioner for directly causing this

B: Looks like this thief got away.
W: Legionis was a tough opponent for the phantom thief, but they could not keep up the chase forever. Joker had nearly everything in the bag. His durability was far greater than anything they have withstood, and even was stronger, scaling him up to Ryuji.
B: But we can already hear ya, and yes, Joker was faster. Not only could he dodge lightening, Something the officer has never had to dodge before, but also was on par with Fox, moving over the speed of light. On the bright side, he never saw the legions coming.
W: Not even that since he could use third eye to see invisible things.
B: let's not even get into the fact that he had way more personas to draw that could affect his resistances either.
W: Joker was up against a tough enforcer, but his speed, durability and far greater varsity let him steal a win.
B: I guess no one could be the Legion of the phantom thieves.
W: The winner, is Joker.
The officer has had to dodge lightning in most of the missions. About a third of chimeras are electric, and some can call down lightning or even lasers from above. Joker is probably still faster, of course...
Now this... does put a smile to my face!
Joker VS Giorno is inevitably gonna happen, i've come to terms with that, but i was hoping this would get commisioned sooner or later because i VASTLY prefer this matchup over that one. To say you knocked it out of the park is an understatement!

Anyways, I like the fast-pace intensity in this one. This is a hell of a first opening. Can't wait to see what's next!
Persona vs Astral Chain!? Now that is a stylish matchup I would love to see. This track is fast paced and heart pumping, I can imagine fast paced fights in both Persona 5 Strikers and Astral Chain. God I love both Persona 5 and Astral Chain I've replayed both so many times at this point.
Per someone's request I have decided to look back onto the first commission tracks on that channel and I just couldn't refuse given the person in question's charity. Also I thought it'd be a nice idea given I haven't listened to those tracks in ages.
And honestly ? Starting with this one was a great idea because damn it's better than I remembered and I wonder why I didn't review this sooner.
Now I straight up don't know the second character and barely know Joker beyond the obvious so the character-side analysis will be quite low however there's still a few things that I can say about the song as a whole for sure.
First thing that I want to note is of course the high energy and intensity of the track that stands out quite a lot. Its meaning to me changes throughout the song but at the beginning of the song up to the end of its first half, it means to me quite an intense battle between the characters of course but most notably a fight where neither character is actually going all out even if they're definitely dishing out great amounts of power.
It'll more comprehensible once I get to the second half of the song but for the first half it's got quite a distinct feeling of joyfulness to it (IE: whole start of the track up to 0:29) that, even if it's backed up by more serious segments (IE: 0:29-0:40), really shows that while those two are still fighting quite seriously, they're definitely not letting it all out just yet and are probably fighting to have fun more than anything at that point. Which, I don't know for Legionis, but definitely fits Joker's character so that's a really nice segment of personalisation.
Speaking of Joker I must also mention the inclusion of the Persona-like motifs throughout the song (IE: 1:36-1:58) which are done masterfully I must say. In a lot of Persona-like songs it ends up having the Persona side of the track overwhelming the other which makes for tracks that end up sounding a bit too similar, but here the Persona influence is kept to what is necessary which makes it sound really nice and unique compared to most other Persona tracks.
Then comes the second part of the song at 2:29 and we reach something completely different as the joyfulness of the first half completely gives away to something much more serious and epic, showing a major change in scale (primarily with the chanting and increase in percussions) *and* in the characters' perception of the battle. They aren't having fun anymore, they're trying to end one another for real.
This second half is just as good if not even better than the first part too, both in sheer quality as *gosh does it sound epic* and in terms of personality given to the characters too. It's really interesting to hear the segment start off with a slight build up, making a break to show that the characters are powering up to get serious, only to get a massive clashing segment where the two just duke it out with massive levels of power and epicness. However it's even more interesting to hear the descending motif starting from 3:03 up to 3:18 into a break of the song. It definitely sounds like that heavy fighting segment is taking its toll on the characters and while they continue fighting up to the break at 3:18, their power is lowering more and more as the segment continues up to 3:14 where it descends in a more chaotic short part as the both of them launch a desperate series of attacks before breaking away from their clash to rest and ready themselves for the final clash of the fight.
This build up is great as it manages to make the listener really wait for the ending and intake just how tiring the fight up to now must have been for the fighters, with the track even having a slight steady break up to 3:34 before it starts increasing again until the start of the climax at 3:51-4:08. And boy is that climax great. It takes everything about the whole second half of the song but amplifies it up to 11 to really put into perspective the sheer power and destruction those two bring about with the end of the fight. Hell, the song even takes on a "reality shattering" side for a short bit at 4:00-4:05 as we hear something reminiscent of a megaphone screech which just sounds completely otherworldly in a track. It's something that I don't think I ever heard in a song and gosh is it done wonderfully. As I said it gives an otherworldly side to the ending which increases the battle's scale even further by making it seem that by the end the two of them are shaking reality itself with their fight (which, given what Persona is, probably isn't that far from the truth) and it's such a creative use of such a weird sound that I can only commend it.
Overall this track definitely makes me reconsider what I said in the past about not liking/having interest in the pre-Symbolic commissions. It's clear that there's been a lot of improvements in the more recent tracks with their sheer composition quality but it's undeniable that *damn this track slaps* and I hope that when I'll review the 4 next ones I'll be able to feel just as much hype as I did when reviewing this gem that I had left untouched for much to long. Amazing work with this.
Man, I never thought that Therewolf commision ost will came out really fast. But still, Very amazing ost. I know nothing about Astral Chain, But I know He's one of best choice for Joker if he ever join Death Battle

At 2:29 (maybe not in this fight) I can imagine a scenario where one of the combatants gets attacked by a brutal attack (stab to the heart or gut, fatal shot etc.), and at around 2:39, they get back up, refusing to die and they surprise their opponent at 2:41 and land plenty of good attacks in a pissed off rage or them taking it seriously.
now that therewolf is doing commissions too, the Therewolf Media vs Brandon Yates commission track is even closer to reality

Hey, you're right! You caught me on a technicality. I did solo on that Yates track. When I write, I work off of notes from the client... so let's see if someone else can jump in here and talk about Legionis and Astral Chain. @strangefate??

Astral Chain is basically what i'd describe as the precursor to Persona 5 Strikers in that it focuses on summoning other beings(legions and personas) to fight along side you in clearing out hordes of enemies. As for Legionis himself, obviously, he(or she) is your typical blank face protagonist that your supposed take the role of in a similar manner to a pokemon trainer or I guess Link. The truly interesting aspect about Legionis though is that for all the similarities he has with Joker(summoning, fighting for justice against corrupt beings, being betrayed by an ally, saving the world from a god) they technically are on opposite sides of the law from the view of society. While Joker is outright known as a "thief" Legionis is a member of the Neuron Task Force, which is basically future cops. It's kinda what sold me completely on the match-up actually. While Joker has other mus with good connections or a solid dynamic, this does all of the good things and adds in the concept of cop vs robber, which I really like

@Therewolf Media as for the track itself, I think that this has to be the most grand scale P5 Joker track I've ever listened to date. Between the guitar, and the violins, I genuinely thought that Joker, and Legionis are using some heavy moves that are on a god tier level.
