As a muslim we need to take these events seriously, because maybe our future generations may be the ones going through these trials. May Allah protect them and us. But just to put a smile on the faces I remember the movie pirates of the caribbean dead mans chest. In it captain sparrow is stranded in a desert with no food and water and all alone. And he imagined himself to be surrounded by replicas of himself and he was not alone. And the only food he had was a humble peanut. Until a pebble which was actually a crab helped him to reach the ocean. So there is hope even if all else is lost.

For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to [all that is] good. Wherever you may be, Allah will bring you forth [for judgement] all together. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Hasten to do good deeds before there come tribulations like pieces of a dark night, when a man will be a believer in the morning and a kaafir by evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a kaafir by morning, selling his religious commitment for worldly gain.”

I first came to know during my childhood, almost 35 years back that Dajjal was coming very soon. Now after 35 years, and still I m hearing that Dajjal is coming very soon.
