It’s fun to put together lists like this. There were a few that were really bad Charlie’s Angels, The Sum of All Fears etc… I liked that extra jab you threw in about how Tom Clancy games are no longer realistic haha. I don’t mind games that look bad if they are really fun or play well or if they are made by an indie team but games like Charlie’s Angels has no excuse. It’s like they had no QA team to tell them…. “Maybe the boat should be in the water?“ great topic, buddy!
Oh man, Charlie's Angels is awful...and that's being nice lol. Definitely don't know what happened during development. I had to take a jab at the Tom Clancy games currently releasing since they've bastardized the author's name. The Division was the only good "Tom Clancy" game to release on PS4/X1 (which wasn't "realistic", but still fun). Thanks for checking out the video man!
These videos always make me wanna go and buy some Gamecube games (yes, even this video did 😂) Great video as always. We all love the Gamecube and its games... but sometimes its fun to lightly diss some games 😂😂 they can't all be winners! Thanks for the upload! Keep it up : )
Haha nice! Yeah, even despite bashing the visuals of these games, some are still solid games, and some are so bad, you have to try them yourself lol. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Thanks again for checking it out!
Found your channel via the Button Bash Brothers channel I watched their youcube video about smash bros(which was awesome), checked out their twitter and found you. Both of you are doing great work, keep it up.👍
I remember Universal Studios filling up the second hand aisles in game shops back in the day. I was always curious what it was like but even for 50p I wasn't tempted.
love the gamecubes color palette and always have, idk what it is but the games just seem to POP and have a certain look to them that makes it easy to say "yeah thats gamecube"
The GameCube really did have that distinct color palette thinking of it now. The PS2 had a fuzzier looking video output compared to the GameCube (even with the PS2's component cables), and the Xbox had a much darker color palette. Great observation! Thank you for checking out the video!
Sonic adventure DX. While actually my favorite game of all time, the DX port severely cut textures and other elements that were present in the Dreamcast original. An HDMI upscaler certainly helps but even still! Haha great video!
Huh, I never realized the DX port cut textures...I always thought it looked better on the GameCube, but now I need to pop the Dreamcast version in again to see lol. Glad you enjoyed the video man!
@@GameCubeGalaxy More than that, each version of DX (including modern console/PC ports of Adventure w/o the DX label) have added tons of glitches, collision issues, and major downgrades to the original game's lighting engine. Thankfully the PC version has Dreamcast conversion/improvement mods to fix the glaring problems and create a relatively definitive edition, but it's a shame what DX did to SA1's image.
Me as a kid: Look at games like Rogue Leader and Resident Evil Remake, GameCube and stuff is the future of gaming Me as I get older: Okay, even the amazing new systems have some bad looking games...as well as not-fun games. Most of these games I've not even heard of.
A great look at some ugly titles. I didn't realize Dark Legacy had that shoddy of a frame rate on the GC. The game doesn't look any better on the original XBox because the arcade didn't look any better (it does support 480p though, which I'm not sure if the GameCube version does), but it certainly runs smoother than this (or the Dreamcast/N64/PSX ports of Legends). Considering the age of the arcade hardware at the time and the fact that it just used a VooDoo Banshee, I don't see how they managed to clobber the framerate in the GameCube version. Legends/Dark-Legacy are two of my favorite arcade games of all time (and, I just sat down in-person with 2 friends and one of those friend's brother and had a ton revisiting it and Hunter the Reckoning on the XBox about 2 months back on one of my friend's birthday), but they certainly were old looking games by the time these ports came out. Now, I'm curious about how the PS2 port performs, since I never played it as well. I've not played any of the rest, but those are some ugly titles. Of what I own or have played, I'm inclined to pick Space Raiders as the ugliest: it's got simple geometry, ugly textures, and the art direction is just terrible. Army Men RTS is also very simple looking as well with low individual polygon counts, but at least, like the rest of the series, the army men style is at least compelling unlike the just ugly style of Space Raiders.
Gauntlet Dark Legacy was a head-scratcher as to why it looked and ran so poor on the GameCube. The back of the box even touted the GameCube had exclusive features like "high-res textures". There's no progressive scan for it, but I was able to force it using Swiss. It's a shame because the game is a lot of fun, and thankfully that saves the game from being written off from its ported performance. I've never played Hunter the Reckoning, but heard good things about it! Space Raiders I've never played yet, but is definitely on my list to cover. It does look...simple, in more ways than one lol. Army Men RTS I haven't tried yet either (although I played several Army Men games in the past that I enjoyed), but definitely need to give it a look. Thank you for checking out the video! I'm more intrigued to try Space Raiders now that you mention it!
Normally I start my comments with "Nice list" or "Nice collection" but for this one I don't know what to say... Nice bad looking games list 🤣? The only one I would argue against is Gauntlet, yes I know this was only to talk about how the game looks, but it was so much fun that I would overlook the graphics in that case! But the rest of them, yikes! Aquaman is down right laughable and Charlie's Angels they were clearly on drugs when making that game lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
Haha, yeah, definitely a different list than normal. Although Gauntlet Dark Legacy despite its visuals making the GameCube appear weaker than it is, is still a lot of fun! Aquaman is definitely poor, but Charlie's Angels is on a whole other level of awful. They were clearly on something making that game lol! Thanks again for checking out the video man!
Gauntlet was one of my favorite acarde games, when my cousin showed me it on ps2 i got SO excited. I absolutely love it, and even though it had its downfalls, it still holds up to this day.
Gauntlet Dark Legacy is such a good game! Even despite its visual issues, it's still very much a great time, especially in co-op! Thanks for checking out the video!
I remember as a kid my mom REFUSED to get me the Universal game because it was horrible. I only wanted for Back to the Future but I’m glad I skipped it lol
Haha nice. Yeah, the Back to the Future segment was what excited me the most to play...to only be severely disappointed still when finally getting around to trying it lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!
The 'not bad' visual pop up in Charlie's Angels is the only thing 'not bad' about what I see in its visuals and gameplay. Triggerman looks like a wannabe The Punisher (an awesome ps2 game actually) but lacking any understanding of what made The Punisher great. Graphical leaps between generations were huge back then, not just some numbers only a trained eye could see and some stutters only a graphics snob could not forgive. And it's not like indie developers nowadays that focus on an idea and put a nostalgia x-th gen graphics layer of paint on it because they don't have the requirements to go head to head with big budget graphics, and almost-but-not-quite often looks worse than 'inspired by early ps1 3d' or just good old 2d.
Haha, well said about Charlie's Angels. Trigger Man is such a poor game...easily the game I despise the most on the GameCube, but dodged the #1 spot since Charlie's Angels was visually much worse lol. Graphical leaps were far bigger back then, and nowadays it's laughable when they release a new console that barely looks any different. Thank you for checking out the video man!
Some definite disappointments on the lists. 36 mb for The Road trip? Crazy! Definitely looks like an N64 game. Yikes. I’ve heard Bad Boys 2 is just laughable and as I can see here the masses aren’t wrong. Ug, Aquaman lol McGrath looks like it came from PS1. The Sum of all fears got a game?! Whaaaa!? Haha Should have stayed on the big screen and not in the game market. I’ve played the PS2 version of TriggerMan and it’s equally as bad lol it’s playable but so bad. The Notorious Charlie’s Angels. Never had a pleasure of playing this one but apparently not needed haha Wow. That’s bad!!! Great video man! I would say thanks for bringing these to light, but let’s let them sleep in the past hahah Stay awesome brother! 🤘
Haha yeah, definitely some real disappointments here. Road Trip being 36MB is just…I can’t even lol. Bad Boys is certainly laughable lol! McGrath is such a disservice to the 6th-gen consoles, and had me scratching my head as to whether or not the devs even tried to take advantage of newer hardware. The Sum of All Fears…award-winning AI there lmao! Trigger Man…more like Trash Man, am I right? 🤣 Charlie’s Angels though…that’s a whole other level of travesty! Thanks for checking out the video man! Glad you enjoyed it!
You can make some surprisingly good-looking games at around 36 Mb-say hello to quite a few WiiWare titles! The problem with Gadget Racers/Choro-Q is more so its lack of budget vs. what you'd pay for it back in the day. I don't think it even looks that bad, but it's got a hard time competing with much better/prettier racers on GameCube.
Haha yes! So glad to see Gauntlet Dark Legacy represented. Man I had a lot of fun with that game. So many sleepovers. Like you said, excellent co-op game, even if the graphics barely make the cut for the N64. Janky as hell but bottom line it was fun. And still on the expensive side in 2024!
Gauntlet Dark Legacy is so much fun! I do wish the GameCube version looked cleaner and ran smoother, as it easily should've been able to do so. Despite that, it's definitely an example of "visuals aren't everything" when it comes to games lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
I only have Gauntlet Dark Legacy from your worst looking gamecube games released for the gamecube. I played dark legacy in HD via a hdmi adaptor. It looks much better through HDMI as do all gamecube games. I agree with you though, the remaining games that are featured here... I won't be adding them to my collection anytime soon. Do you have a complete collection for the console? I tend to be very selective.
It definitely looks better with the HD adapter and forcing it in 480p with Swiss. Still rough looking, but smoothed out at least that way. Many of the other games are definitely games that make the console look weak... I don't have a complete collection for the console yet, but slowly working my way there lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!
I agree. At first I was apprehensive about the cel-shading style...but not only did it look amazing in action, but holds up like fine wine today. Thanks for checking out the video!
Hey UA-cam SCREW you for removing my last comment in this video which said NOTHING bad lol. Marcello this was an awesome video and my eyes hurt now lol
Loved dark legacy back in the day! I played on PS2 and your video here really shows the difference in power of the two systems. It looks MUCH worse on gamecube
Actually, in terms of power in the systems themselves, Gamecube was probably the strongest in its generation. But not the one around which most games were programmed, and often a lot gets lost in porting. A well known example of the other way around is the initially Gamecube exclusive RE4. While ps2 gamers were rightfully happy to get the game ported, I had a tough time appreciating it on ps2 (for its extra content) because I was used to the far superior quality of the Gamecube game. When they combined it on the Wii, with the best controls for any version of the game, that quickly became my favourite version and still is.
Gauntlet Dark Legacy is such a good game, but it is a shame the devs rushed it out. The GameCube was capable of far more, and was more powerful than the PS2 (usually multiplatform games ran at a higher framerate on GameCube over PS2). Still, despite the visuals, it's still a great time! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Agreed. RE4 was (and still is) a masterpiece that showcased just how much more powerful the GC was compared to the PS2. The PS2 port of that game was sloppy, which muddy textures and heavily compressed audio that ruins the experience for me. I agree that the Wii version was the best version!
That’s correct. Although that’s something that always bothered me with movie-licensed games. They make a game based on their movie counterpart, but don’t bother trying to get the likeness and voiceovers from the cast they’re based on.
Oh man...I gouged my eyes out before I finished the episode so I ended up having to just listen since I am now blind...even hearing the description of Charlie's Angel's made me rip my own ears off...my my hideously deformed face resembles some of the terrible graphics on these games...what have you done Marcello?!?! 😉
Honestly, I can’t think of a GameCube Game I played with horrible graphics, but if there is a game that looks so bad that it makes me uncomfortable, it’s DDR Universe 1 and Persona 5 Dancing Star Night. I know they’re 2 games in different series but they’re both rhythm games so I’m mentioning them anyway: DDR Universe has horrible graphics ripped straight from DDR X on PS2, make it even worse with an annoying as fuck announcer and dance animations that look hideous. (One of the dancers actually twerks, No, I’m not joking) Persona 5 Dancing is even worse because the animations make the Phantom Thieves dance like 4 year olds which sucks because Ann’s the best dancer in the game and she only has 2 songs which is pathetic, not to mention, there’s a stage/song in the game that the P5 Girls do a Burlesque performance and it’s so bad that it makes me uncomfortable, graphics alone is enough to make that game atone for its sins to what it did to Persona/Shin Megami Tensei. Either way, Great Episode as Always GameCube Galaxy. Also First Comment in like 6-8 months. Glad to be Commenting Again.
I never played DDR Universe or Persona 5 Dancing, but I will definitely take your word for them! Those sound awful! Thank you for checking out the video, and also sharing some awful looking games in your experience!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Appreciate it. Also about Persona 5 Dancing Star Night, the game is rated T when in actuality it’s made for little kids, like we’re talking 3-5 year olds and just think about it, a Persona game made for 3-5 year olds, if you make a game that looks to be targeted for teenagers when in actuality it’s made for children, you know that it’s going to be bad. Especially if you have a Burlesque performance in the game, how is that made for kids, it just doesn’t go together.
@@GameCubeGalaxy Good because the game is horrible to begin with, not to mention: I already gave it the bashing it deserves so I really hope that I never ever have to mention it again as it would easily fit into the MAJOR CODE RED Zone of AVGN’s Shit Scale (Never Play them, Never talk about them)
Here's a lengthy list of my picks for ugly GameCube games. Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure: It's THPS4 but with Disney. That game has one of the worst looking versions of Disney characters. Take a look at Buzz and Woody in that game. They look like PS1 models. At least Toy Story 2 and Toy Story Racer has an excuse, but Toys for Bob should've done a better job on turning Toy Story, Tarzan and Lion King characters to game form and skateboarding as well. Plus why just Toy Story, Tarzan and Lion King? Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: That game looks pretty ugly. Jimmy Neutron looks baby-faced and it doesn't help that the GameCube port's graphics is gimped because it removed some PS2 effects. At least Jet Fusion and Twonkies made the characters look like themselves and mostly Twonkies. Nicktoons Unite and Battle for Volcano Island: BlueTounge never got those characters to look right. Timmy Turner, Cosmo and Wanda look fine in those games, but Danny looks like he has bulging eyes, SpongeBob looks like he has eyeliner and Jimmy Neutron looks like deformed. Fairly Odd Parents Breakin' Da Rules and Shadow Shodown: Another double one! Despite being the timeless cel-shaded look, some stuff looks awkward like facial expressions for the characters. Blitz should've studied better on those characters. Crash Wrath of Cortex: Awkward looking character models. Example like Tiny Tiger looking like Scud from Toy Story. The PS1 games look better than Wrath of Cortex. Doesn't help that it's also a gimped GameCube port with weird graphical errors like the weird ring on Uka-Uka's glow on his back as well as on Cortex's eyebrows. Mix in with audio bugs and frame rate somehow struggling to stay at 60 FPS despite GameCube being more powerful than PS2 and released a year later after the PS2 version and it shows that the GameCube version is a rushed cashgrab port that doesn't do the console justice. Sonic Adventure DX: So many graphical downgrades. Artistic vision is lost on many accounts during the transition from Dreamcast to GameCube like the environment being bright like daytime despite being in night in the hubs Sonic and a few other characters looking like cheap action figures. Plus the infamous loop de loop glitch among other glitches that don't exist in the Dreamcast original. If you were to play Sonic Adventure then play the Dreamcast version or get the PC version and use the Dreamcast Conversion mod to bring back the stuff lost because greed and laziness and in widescreen and 60 FPS. Shark Tale: Some how they made ugly characters like Oscar, Sykes, Ernie, Bernie, Angie and other characters look worst. Shark Tale is always an ugly movie by Dreamworks and the game is no exception. In fact, it looks more ugly than the actual movie. Shrek 2: That game's graphics didn't aged well and never looked good back in 2004. Fairy God Mother looks like she's an even more old fairy than what she looks like in the movie. Donkey and Puss In Boots look like those animal toys you get from the tubes at Walmart at the check-out. Some muddy textures and characters out of proportion. I don't think other Shrek games like Extra Large, Super Party, Super Slam and Smash N' Crash Racing aren't any better. But if there's gonna be stuff like Shrek Pop Tarts, CRTs and M&M's then of course cashgrab games exist as well and some of them ripping off other games like Mario Party, Power Stone and Mario Kart. Any game that's trying to be realistic: Lots of those games might look breathtaking and true to life at the time, but man they are ugly today by today's standards. Sure some of those games are still fun like Tony Hawk, SSX, Mortal Kombat, Spider-Man 2 and WWE games, but if they were to be brought back then they must do remakes and no excuses. That's why anime, cartoony (If done right) and cel-shaded game aged the best and still look playable without making me want to cringe and making me want to turn off the console or laughing on how silly a handful of realistic games from the sixth gen look and especially if some of them have robotic or stiff movements that might look real back then, but not really now. Games series like One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball and Viewtiful Joe look good back then and look good now.
Oh Minority Report was definitely considered for this list…definitely not a good looking game at all lol. That game has some of the funniest ragdoll physics I’ve seen. Definitely a game I need to cover one day lol. Thank you for checking out the video man!
I've never been more certain I would steal something before, looking like a wet bag of hammers is somehow the most apt and hilarious description, I'ma try to shoehorn it in whenever available now. Lol thanks I've only played minority report on my ps2, dun look great and it's definitely a frustrating mess at times but there's some good ideas floating around in it, and while I understand they couldn't get the tom cruise license I never understood where they got that bland generic douche model from lol
There is soo much I want to say about these games, but the character count won’t let me 😅. So, in the words of my former House of the Dead 2 protagonist, “My God.”
I kinda feel u let them down easy😂. I have seen some good graphic design in games for the GameCube. Especially first party ones. There are always a few bad eggs I guess. And they did Cameron Diaz bad man….. it’s a crime.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha yeah, I did let them down easy 😂. The GameCube was a powerhouse, so seeing these games in the visual state they were in, was inexcusable. They made Cameron Diaz look like nightmare fuel in the Charlie’s Angels game…and that’s just not right lol. Definitely a crime 😂. Thanks for checking out the video man!
I cant even lie. I love aqauman I even beat it 3 times back in the day to unlock the other hidden playable characters and almost a 4th to see if there was another. Guilty pleasure I guess but bad gameplay and graphics it was a game that I enjoyed for some reason
Honestly, that’s refreshing to hear. While I think the cutscene visuals are awful, and the combat is basic, it’s one that compels me to come back and try to finish it. It’s one I do plan on sitting down to complete so I can make a final verdict upon beating it. Didn’t know there were unlockable characters, so now I’m more inclined to beat it! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy yep first playthrough you get classic aquaman with different combos for what they are worth then I played thru with classic aquaman and got tempest which is aqaulad who has combos that do freeze stuff which is unique to him. Then I played thru with him and I got black manta which has combos with all kinds of weapons including his eyes shooting lasers. I never finished it with black manta tho. So may be another character or something but I may go back to it to find out
I remember grabbing gauntlet dark legacy for ps2 knowing nothing about it and already owning gauntlet legends on ps1 and wondering if I'd just bought the same game for a different system 😅
Haha exactly my point! I thought I was playing the N64 version of Gauntlet Legends when I fired this up lol. Thankfully, the game itself is still a fun time despite the poor visuals. Thank you for checking out the video man!
They would've for sure, but I utilized the N64 as a reference to how these games didn't quite make the visual leap from the previous generation. They mostly made the GameCube appear weaker than what it was capable of was my draw lol. Thank you for checking out the video!
The Dreamcast was a powerful system for the time, but the GC had double the CPU and GPU, which resulted in games like the RE Remake, RE4, Star Wars Rogue Leader, etc, that really gave the system a next-gen leap from the Dreamcast. Regardless, the Dreamcast was an awesome system that I wish had more time in the spotlight. Thanks for checking out the video!
A few late-era Dreamcast titles (Shenmue II, Sonic Adventure 2, etc.) showed what potential its hardware had, but it still ended up the overall weakest platform from that period. No surprise, though, given its specs were finalized prior to the PS2's unveiling, and SEGA's console business was rapidly collapsing when they made it. It's a shame the Dreamcast/NAOMI platform didn't get pushed to its limits the way its contemporaries did.
I have yet to try that one, but wasn’t aware it was an ugly looking game. I’m intrigued now lol. I know Spyro Enter the Dragonfly is one that is apparently really bad that I need to see for myself as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Anytime. ^^ But yeah, the GameCube port of Wrath of Cortex was awful, the port's poor performance and the visuals looks 10x worse than the PS2 (the version has an issue where it has the long loading times but thankfully the Greatest Hits version reduces it that is par on the GC and OG Xbox port.) and OG Xbox version. The only good thing that game can offer is the faster loading times and some secrets that weren't present in the PS2 version, but doesn't give the GameCube port a good excuse of becoming the worst version of the game.
For once I've watched one of your videos without adding something to my backlog of games to play;) These are piss poor though Gauntlet still looks like a lot of fun. From looking at it I'd say they put zero improvement over the Dreamcast version and even that game didn't exactly look great either.
Haha glad I saved you a few bucks to put toward other games I've praised in earlier episodes lol! Gauntlet Dark Legacy is such a good game, and despite the ugly visuals/performance, it's still a great time (one you and GMR would have a lot of fun playing in a future GMR episode)! Thank you for checking out the video!
Oh there are a ton of games that actually take advantage of the GameCube's power (aside from the superb RE Remake), but I'll save that for an episode in the near future to show the opposite of this video 👍
While these games are definitely underrepresentations of what the GameCube can do visually, I wouldn't say any of them look 5th Gen. Early Dreamcast or PS2 games sure (although my god the character models for 'Charlie's Angels' look hideous even for a PS1 game). Also you know the Dreamcast was a 6th Gen console right?
Excellent video dude. For me personally the top 5 ugliest games on the Gamecube are, #5 Medal of Honor Rising Sun. So many bugs & glitches and A.I not very smart & graphically depressing. #4 American Chopper 2 full throttle. Horrible controls & a horrible game based on a TV series in early- mid 2000s. #3 Charlie and the chocolate factory. Another licensed game that plays nothing like the movie. Definitely one of the worst adventure games on n the console & of all time. It's so boring it put me to sleep. #2 Smashing Drive A very disappointing game from Namco that isn't a crazy taxi clone but graphically it just doesn't do it for me. I'm not a fan of the stages either. #1 BMX XXX Do I need to say more. Honorable mention goes to Shrek Extra large. My god this game is hideous & ugly. Atleast it's better than its og Xbox version that was a launch title for Microsoft's console before coming to GC a year later with some graphics improved & some bugs And glitches fixed but that's not saying much. It's hard to pick if this or Charlie And the chocolate factory is worse.
Thank you man! Very interesting picks as well. I almost put Smashing Drive on this list, but it just missed the cut lol. Smashing Drive is definitely a guilty pleasure game for me as well lol. BMX XXX also almost made the cut due to those horrific NPC character models 😂. I need to check out American Chopper 2 and Charlie and the Chocolate factory still, so there may be a follow up episode to this list in the future 😂. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Thanks again for checking it out!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Lol. Play those games at your own risk. Especially Shrek & Charlie and the chocolate factory. They are so bad. Maybe Shrek is a slightly better game. Maybe but everything no matter which game you play feels like a chore.
@@GameCubeGalaxy Just realized you said you like Smashing Drive as a guilty pleasure. I'm sorry. I really don't like this game. When I picked it up 9 years ago I couldn't wait to boot it up & just disappointed me massively.
That's completely fair, as it's not a great game by any means. I remember getting Smashing Drive for $10 sealed back in the day, and I expected an awful game, but then found myself just enjoying the quick pickup-and-play nature, and finding all the shortcuts. I know it's a game that got trashed, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it enough to play it over and over.
It was very, very close to making the list haha. I covered that game briefly in a previous episode (Alternatives to the THPS Series on GameCube), and pointed out the awful NPC visuals lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy yea just saw that lol, glad to see someone likes it, I can't stop clowning it whenever it comes up, earned a sub in a avoid GC collector!
Oh I'm definitely no crapping on the Dreamcast in any way, as that was a great console that was also under-appreciated. I used it more as a reference point since it was the console that released in between the 5th and 6th generation of consoles. The Dreamcast had some seriously awesome games, both gameplay-wise and visually!
Definitely a game that makes the GameCube look far weaker than it is, but it at least has a recognizable art direction that the series utilized moving forward. But definitely a weak looking GC game lol.

It was probably a good idea Wind Waker used cell shaded graphics. Nintendo knew what they were doing.
Haha yeah, not sure why UA-cam removed your previous comment, as I thought it was funny. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Sorry your eyes hurt now 😂
Loved dark legacy back in the day!
What game was the one with the delorean time machine?
That one is from Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure. Hope that helps!
The characters don’t sound or look like the bad boys actors is because they didn’t pay the actors to use their voices or likeness
That’s correct. Although that’s something that always bothered me with movie-licensed games. They make a game based on their movie counterpart, but don’t bother trying to get the likeness and voiceovers from the cast they’re based on.
@@GameCubeGalaxy ya kinda the whole point lol
Oh man...I gouged my eyes out before I finished the episode so I ended up having to just listen since I am now blind...even hearing the description of Charlie's Angel's made me rip my own ears off...my my hideously deformed face resembles some of the terrible graphics on these games...what have you done Marcello?!?! 😉
Lmao!!
Awesome picks Marcello!
Thank you, Mark! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I didn’t know Cameron Diaz was balding lol
Lmao! Yeah...the developers clearly had some issues putting that game and the character models together lol. Thanks for checking out the video man!
I shall have nightmares, NIGHTMARES of Cameron Diaz's mouth from now on😆
Haha you're welcome! Thank you for checking out the video!
Honestly, I can’t think of a GameCube Game I played with horrible graphics, but if there is a game that looks so bad that it makes me uncomfortable, it’s DDR Universe 1 and Persona 5 Dancing Star Night. I know they’re 2 games in different series but they’re both rhythm games so I’m mentioning them anyway:
DDR Universe has horrible graphics ripped straight from DDR X on PS2, make it even worse with an annoying as fuck announcer and dance animations that look hideous. (One of the dancers actually twerks, No, I’m not joking)
Persona 5 Dancing is even worse because the animations make the Phantom Thieves dance like 4 year olds which sucks because Ann’s the best dancer in the game and she only has 2 songs which is pathetic, not to mention, there’s a stage/song in the game that the P5 Girls do a Burlesque performance and it’s so bad that it makes me uncomfortable, graphics alone is enough to make that game atone for its sins to what it did to Persona/Shin Megami Tensei.
@@themightymesprit7325 That...wow...I have no words on that one lol!
Not played it for quite a few years but I remember Minority Report looking like a wet bag of hammers. Game was ok but yeah.. eeesh
Lol thanks
I've only played minority report on my ps2, dun look great and it's definitely a frustrating mess at times but there's some good ideas floating around in it, and while I understand they couldn't get the tom cruise license I never understood where they got that bland generic douche model from lol
There is soo much I want to say about these games, but the character count won’t let me 😅. So, in the words of my former House of the Dead 2 protagonist, “My God.”
Lol!! That statement has never been truer in regards to some of these games 😂. Thanks for checking out the video man!
So may be another character or something but I may go back to it to find out
Some of these are so bad, I almost want to add a few to my collection.
Haha that they are! At the very least, they’ll provide some laughs when playing as to how weak they look lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy always enjoy your stuff as I dont get to play gamecube much any more :)
These would have looked way worse on N64. They don't look great but most of these don't look like N64 games
They would've for sure, but I utilized the N64 as a reference to how these games didn't quite make the visual leap from the previous generation. They mostly made the GameCube appear weaker than what it was capable of was my draw lol. Thank you for checking out the video!
The GC isn't really "far more powerful" than the Dreamcast. It's better but not by a large magnitude.
Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex would like to have a word with you.
But yeah, the GameCube port of Wrath of Cortex was awful, the port's poor performance and the visuals looks 10x worse than the PS2 (the version has an issue where it has the long loading times but thankfully the Greatest Hits version reduces it that is par on the GC and OG Xbox port.) and OG Xbox version.
I always felt that the only game that truly took advantage of the Gamecube's power was the launch title Resident Evil.
Oh there are a ton of games that actually take advantage of the GameCube's power (aside from the superb RE Remake), but I'll save that for an episode in the near future to show the opposite of this video 👍
@@GameCubeGalaxy Good lord, Metroid Prime 1 and Rogue Squadron 2 blew my mind!
Enter the matrix, spider man and the ufc coutdown are my personal worst
While these games are definitely underrepresentations of what the GameCube can do visually, I wouldn't say any of them look 5th Gen. Early Dreamcast or PS2 games sure (although my god the character models for 'Charlie's Angels' look hideous even for a PS1 game). Also you know the Dreamcast was a 6th Gen console right?
Excellent video dude. For me personally the top 5 ugliest games on the Gamecube are,
#5 Medal of Honor Rising Sun.
#2 Smashing Drive
A very disappointing game from Namco that isn't a crazy taxi clone but graphically it just doesn't do it for me. I'm not a fan of the stages either.
#1 BMX XXX
Do I need to say more.
Shrek Extra Large I covered in a dedicated "first look" back in July...yeah, that one was interesting to say the least lol!
That's completely fair, as it's not a great game by any means. I remember getting Smashing Drive for $10 sealed back in the day, and I expected an awful game, but then found myself just enjoying the quick pickup-and-play nature, and finding all the shortcuts. I know it's a game that got trashed, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it enough to play it over and over.
surprised BMX XXX wasn't here lol
It was very, very close to making the list haha. I covered that game briefly in a previous episode (Alternatives to the THPS Series on GameCube), and pointed out the awful NPC visuals lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy yea just saw that lol, glad to see someone likes it, I can't stop clowning it whenever it comes up, earned a sub in a avoid GC collector!
@@InotziaCityArt awesome! And thank you for the sub man! Hope you enjoy the content on the channel! 👍

Universal studios is still the worst GameCube game I’ve played
It is pretty awful for sure. Thanks for checking out the video!
The bad boy game looks visually like GTA San Andreas I always thought that game was ugly as hell
Guantlent dark legacy is a great game but visually not so much
Agreed! The game is a lot of fun, but the visuals…yeah that department deserved better lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
Why craping all over Dreamcast so much?
Dreamcast had some spectacular looking titles.
Bad boys lol my eyes hurt
Lol! Bad Boys is pretty bad. Thanks for checking out the video man!
wasn't Conan bad also??
Conan actually isn't awful looking visually. Nothing great, but servicable for sure. Thanks for checking out the video!
Average Ps2 graphics
Haha not even an exaggeration though!
Animal crossing lol
Definitely a game that makes the GameCube look far weaker than it is, but it at least has a recognizable art direction that the series utilized moving forward. But definitely a weak looking GC game lol.
