The fact that Walt is the one singing “I just hope I make it to tomorrow” breaks me everytime. Just the fact that music existed before he passed and was put on this song is heartbreaking to me. And the “just another day” like it’s something that’s just a given, no big deal. It always makes me emotional. One of the most underrated and underappreciated records of the last decade. I've listened to it through and through so many times. Glad you finally got to it.
I have a lot of love and respect for Anthony Fantano but him giving Care For Me a "meh/10" has always sat with me as his worst review. He pretty much goes out of his way to avoid mentioning anything the album does well and all his criticisms come primarily from his biases and weird off base assumptions he makes about the album/chicago scene (I.E. claiming Saba is biting off of Chance when they came up together at the same time). I don't think Fantano brings up Walt's passing or the overall narrative and themes of the album once, I assume he only did a single listen or two and just decided to shit on the album for whatever reason... Not trying to lead a hate brigade on Fantano, he's still one of my favorite music reviewers. But he's wrong on this one and he deserves the smoke and I needed to get that off my chest.
@@7mook7it’s easily one of his worst reviews. He pigeonholed all Chicago rappers as chance clones which wasn’t true at all. The whole review he just downplayed Sabas legitimacy as a unique artist, it really had nothing to do with the music.
@AH-sv3eb cuz at the end of the day he's just sharing his opinion on the internet, I don't think anyone deserves actual hate and vitriol for that. People are mean as hell on the internet for no reason when they could just not watch the reviews instead. Personally I see a lot of value in his reviews even if I don't see eye to eye with him on every project. I grew up reading video game reviews in magazines and online and only ever having the vaguest idea who was writing them, what other kinds of games they liked, etc. Now I can watch reviewers on UA-cam and get to know them more and understand their preferences and biases which in turn informs my expectations for what they're reviewing better.
Saba is my cousin on my moms side this album was a very powerful moment to all of are family especially when we lost Walt I knew Walt more than Saba because when I was younger I saw Walt way more and he was like a big brother figure to me. Walt was an very funny, kind, loving, talented, and protective individual and had so much talent ahead of him and Saba,Walt, Joseph Chilliams that are some of the members in the pivot gang group are my cousins and they inspired me to rap as well.
@@Christian_Crab For sure bro I appreciate you I remember when this album dropped man it made us happy even though we knew Walt was gone but it felt like we had closure and we know Walt is here in spirit and everything will be okay. And continue to represent the legacy he left behind.
Always loved how the track speeds up after the prom party encounter, as if speeding through a series of life events with the Pivot crew. Only slowing back down on the tragic events. Excellent story telling
One of the first vinyls I ever got. This is in my top ten of favorite albums of all time. I just love everything about it. The writing, the production, his delivery. The hooks, how cohesive it feels. This is one of those defining albums to me, there’s really nothing like it. To me, this is one of the most impressively produced rap projects I’ve ever heard. It just feels so textured, emotional, and warm purely just through the music. Side note: I knew this project was gonna make you cry, I’m right there with you😭
In 2019 my stepmom died in a single person car accident, many years later I was told it wasn’t an accident but was self inflicted . When I heard this album at the time it helped me so much with the feelings of grief that overwhelmed me, I love this album to my core. I have a tattoo of the title on the side of my hand. I love this album dearly.

I heard this album first in 2020, during all the unrest and upheaval. BUSY/ SIRENS had me hooked instantly and by the time I reached PROM / KING, I was a mess. I sobbed like a baby and remained inconsolable for an entire evening. Thankfully, I'd also listened to Chance the Rapper's Coloring Book a few weeks before so I used it as a pick-me-up. Your reaction took me back to that place. I had to pause multiple times to keep myself from breaking down. Roger Ebert, a film critic, once said, "Cinema is like a machine that generates empathy." I imagine this applies to music as well, and all good art. How can we listen to a well-made album and not come away with a greater appreciation for the beauty and disaster of the human experience? Our prejudice and ignorance are chipped away at every time we put ourselves in someone else's shoes. We can cross space and time to inhabit their emotions. It's phenomenal. Excellent reaction as always! Thank you for continuing to do this. PS: it would be wonderful to see your reaction to Coloring Book. It's a huge step up from Acid Rap (It won Best Rap Album at the Grammys) and is one of the best albums of 2016.
Truly one of my favorite records of all time. Bee recommending since the Kendrick reactions. Love the content man keep it up. Also you should definitely check out his newest project that came out in 2022 called “few could things” such a touching and mature project.
Cried like a baby :,,,,) even after all the years this album just ruins me especially heaven all around me, the moment I found out he was rapping from Walt’s perspective I just crumbled, idk how Saba was even able to make that song but I’m thankful he did
The other day I had dreamed that I died in an accident in broad daylight. Minutes after the accident I appear as a ghost near where my death occurred and among those people I find my mother crying. At that moment I started to think that I could not give her a last kiss goodbye, a hug that I love so much and that I will never be able to feel it again, that I will never know about her and she will not know about me until her last days. At that moment I started to cry and I told myself that I could not end this way, I did not want to leave without saying goodbye to her and I could not do anything about it. The despair I felt was so vivid that I wake up in tears. Watching this video made me remember such a dream great video like always bob❤
Fuck i just stopped crying man 😅 Beautiful message man; tell your loved ones you love them, spend all the time you can with them, cherish those moments where it feels like nothing is happening because that’s the stuff that matters most. Those normal interactions that end with a hug, the way the make your favorite meal, cherish it all because that’s life
I know people have criticized this album (fantano) for his rapping being amateur, etc but idk man I feel like his flow and breath control are so good sometimes. His tiny desk especially shows this.
Ive waited for this moment since you started doing album reactions. This album genuinely got me through the worst times of my life im so glad I can watch someone appreciate it for the first time. Everyone talks about prom/king and rightfully so but heaven all around me always gets me man. Just the idea of rapping from Walt's perspective and the execution ive never heard anything like that on an album.
So happy you’re finally getting to this album 🙌🏻 his previous album “bucket list” Is absolutely incredible start to finish. One of my all time favorites
Honestly, I'm surprised you’re just getting to this now! truly an amazing project. It dropped at a very pivotal point in my life. This and projects like TA13OO, helped get me through the confusion of it all and be able to manage.
Saba released a followup to this album called few good things in 2022, and it paints a more hopeful and optimistic view of the world than what this album is.
Themes of premature loss have been consistent throughout my life not as much due to the violence within the area (Thank God) but just tragic happenings and sickness and suicide, recently two years ago I had a brother take his life then three days after my cousin pass from Covid, I revisited this album so often as well as donda that dropped the same year as those recent tragedies, the refrain or bridge from the song busy/sirens by the mind always resonated with me, I ended up getting the refrain “ion need nobody new to miss” on my chest, God bless yall and those who connect with this album, in Jesus name may yall feel peace and true love
Audibly yelled in excitement when I saw this post lol Probably the most impactful single album of all time for me. It's funny how different your life and your experience can be from someone else, yet still come away with such similar emotions. I forget how this feels sometimes, but Saba is just incredibly vivid in the way he expresses his emotion. Tracks like Fighter, Grey, Prom/King, etc. hit such a specific emotions for me that nothing else ever has. Being able to relate so hard emotionally and draw parallels is extremely therapeutic and makes the loss of Walt in the end almost unbearable. From knowing nothing about Saba or Walt to feeling an incredible amount of loss and grief... all in less than an hour. The talent and maturity speaks volumes, this album will forever have a mark on me and I'm glad you got to experience it too.
When I was younger prom/king was a Meh track to me but growing up and constantly coming back to this album made me fall in love with it and I fell even harder in love with it when I cried to it. Rip Walt John 🕊️
one of my fav albums since it came out, as Ive been maturing the album changes in my revisits. watching this helped put the final pieces together, thank you
There’s a select few albums I’d do anything to experience for the first time again and this is 1000% one of them. It’s raw rap, it’s poetry, it’s an amazing story, it’s captivating and it’s sad. A beautiful listen
So fortunate I got to see this live. All around so fantastic. Got me through a lot of troubles and reminded me that there is such a power in writing and telling your story.
bob you talking at the end about how life is everything, the good the bad the ugly and the beautiful, made me break out in tears. i needed to hear that. thank you for the videos you make and thanks to saba for making one of the most meaningful albums of all time
Bob, i am one of the ppl who have commented on every video for this album (as well as pray for Paris)😂, but I’m so glad you got around to this. What a gem. I knew you would enjoy it, the mix of emotions and energy that Saba provides us is incredible. Glad you loved it
I hope this means you'll listen to his most recent album then. Care for Me was one of the first rap albums I truly loved, but I think Few Good Things steps it up. You can see just how much he's matured as a songwriter and a person between the two projects.
I fucking love this album so damn much. I actually just started spinning it again last week, only to find out you reacted to it right around the same time. Funny how the universe works. Care For Me is a beautiful and sincere album that is, unfortunately, criminally underrated. While it was highly reviewed by critics, it never received the popularity or recognition it deserves from listeners. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I hope your reaction opens the doors for others to discover this piece of art.
this album came out around a week after one of my childhood friends was taken from us in a car crash. the other driver was under the influence. i couldn’t even finish this album when i heard it and it took my years to finally finish the record. i finally did finish the whole thing in 2020 front to back and this is more than music to me. this is really someone who shared a similar experience. the experience that someone so close to us was taken in a second. thank you for listening to this and feeling the emotions i felt when i finished bob your channel is amazing and keep being authentic
I was watching your Things Fall Apart review the other day, and I just wanna say you should react to more by The Roots. Seemed like you were into it and I think you'd love Undun, which is their concept album. I personally think it might be my favorite Roots album, and one of my favorite concept albums. Also yeah this album is amazing, Prom/King is incredible
Easily one of my favourite records ever. So powerful. I dont think much can be said about it that hasnt already been, but I will never not be moved by this album
From top to bottom i just LOVE this fucking album man, so much of it hits me so hard, and the last two songs are just heartbreaking and beautiful and amazing and prom/king is SO GOOD
You probably won’t read this but the person “squeak” he also mentioned passed away a couple years after this was released He was also on his music group
great reaction as always bob. This is one of my all time favorite albums and I am so happy to see you enjoy it, unlike some other reaction/review channels on youtube (we are looking at you fantano lmao). But an absolute classic in my eyes and I am excited for the additional thoughts. Thank you again bob!
Bob please listen to Deltron 3030's self-titled album, it came out in 2000 and the production, message, lyrics and concepts were way ahead of its time, and is easily one of the best rap albums of the 2000s. I don't know if you know this, but Del The Funky Homosapien (vocalist of Deltron 3030) was featured on Gorillaz' Clint Eastwood, you may be a bit familiar with his voice.

I’ve waited for this album for so long. Side ways bob is coming. 😭😭
One of the best albums in recent years. This and Swimming from Mac got me through some tough times. Thank you for reacting to this. 🙏
Themes of premature loss have been consistent throughout my life not as much due to the violence within the area (Thank God) but just tragic happenings and sickness and suicide, recently two years ago I had a brother take his life then three days after my cousin pass from Covid, I revisited this album so often as well as donda that dropped the same year as those recent tragedies, the refrain or bridge from the song busy/sirens by the mind always resonated with me, I ended up getting the refrain “ion need nobody new to miss” on my chest, God bless yall and those who connect with this album, in Jesus name may yall feel peace and true love
one of my all time favorite albums, means so much to me. cant wait to watch this i know bob will love it!
one of my favourite rap albums ever. the only album to make me cry
Audibly yelled in excitement when I saw this post lol
Probably the most impactful single album of all time for me.
The talent and maturity speaks volumes, this album will forever have a mark on me and I'm glad you got to experience it too.
this is one of my favorite projects in recent years. thanks for giving it a listen and some attention!! this is one that grows with you
When I was younger prom/king was a Meh track to me but growing up and constantly coming back to this album made me fall in love with it and I fell even harder in love with it when I cried to it. Rip Walt John 🕊️
Great reaction, hopefully you get chance to check Few Good Things by Saba at some point
Just came across your channel ! I had to suscribe you’re amazing 🙏🏽 care for me is one of my favorite albums and I loooove your perspective
THANK YOU BOB I BEEN PRAYING FOR THIS FOREVER 🙏
bro. i just randomly searched this and seeing it posted just days ago makes me incredibly ecstatic
one of my fav albums since it came out, as Ive been maturing the album changes in my revisits. watching this helped put the final pieces together, thank you
LIFE and PROM / KING are so good ive been playing these 2 songs the most ever since the album dropped like its been in my rotation for abt 6 yrs now
There’s a select few albums I’d do anything to experience for the first time again and this is 1000% one of them. It’s raw rap, it’s poetry, it’s an amazing story, it’s captivating and it’s sad. A beautiful listen
LETS GOOOOOO I HAVE SOMETHING TO WATCH WHEN I GET HOME IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS THANK YOU BOBERT
busy/sirens is one of my favourite songs ever
Oh hey what’s up
So fortunate I got to see this live. All around so fantastic. Got me through a lot of troubles and reminded me that there is such a power in writing and telling your story.
This is one of the best albums of all time, so glad you finally got to it 🔥
One of the best albums I’ve ever listened to. A true modern masterpiece.
my favourite album ever so happy to see u reacting to this
Also thank u for mentioning Gaza. Major respect
Every time I relisten to an album with Bob it hits 10 times harder it’s crazy best reviewer on yt
SUPER underrated project, I have this up there with GKMC
bob you talking at the end about how life is everything, the good the bad the ugly and the beautiful, made me break out in tears. i needed to hear that. thank you for the videos you make and thanks to saba for making one of the most meaningful albums of all time
Bob, i am one of the ppl who have commented on every video for this album (as well as pray for Paris)😂, but I’m so glad you got around to this. What a gem. I knew you would enjoy it, the mix of emotions and energy that Saba provides us is incredible. Glad you loved it
we gotta protect bob at all costs
BOB I KNOW U WONT SEE THIS BUT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR YEARSSSSSS AHHHHHH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I hope this means you'll listen to his most recent album then. Care for Me was one of the first rap albums I truly loved, but I think Few Good Things steps it up. You can see just how much he's matured as a songwriter and a person between the two projects.
I waited years 😭
Wrote an essay on this album in high school ❤️❤️ one of my favorite albums of all time
I fucking love this album so damn much.
I’m so glad people are starting to discover Saba. He’s one of the best out rn.
i forgot about this channel when i got busy with college. I'm so happy to see you reacting to this!
I was wondering when this would drop like an hour or two ago 😭🙏🏽
this album came out around a week after one of my childhood friends was taken from us in a car crash. the other driver was under the influence. i couldn’t even finish this album when i heard it and it took my years to finally finish the record. i finally did finish the whole thing in 2020 front to back and this is more than music to me. this is really someone who shared a similar experience. the experience that someone so close to us was taken in a second. thank you for listening to this and feeling the emotions i felt when i finished bob your channel is amazing and keep being authentic
This is one of favorite albums period. Saba is extremely talented.
Sheeesh I remember suggesting this song a year or two ago. I’m happy you experienced it.
Bob really got me crying to Heaven all around me
fucking love this album bro cant wait
One of my favourite albums of all time and I’ve been waiting for this video for YEARS
Thank you for all these beautiful little moments over the past year or two.
From top to bottom i just LOVE this fucking album man, so much of it hits me so hard, and the last two songs are just heartbreaking and beautiful and amazing and prom/king is SO GOOD
One of my favorite albums of all time 💯
this album saved my life
You probably won’t read this but the person “squeak” he also mentioned passed away a couple years after this was released
He was also on his music group
OH MY GOD ITS ABOUT TIME. I AM SO EXCITED
great reaction as always bob.
I don't know if you know this, but Del The Funky Homosapien (vocalist of Deltron 3030) was featured on Gorillaz' Clint Eastwood, you may be a bit familiar with his voice.
whole album crazy and perfect for your breakdownz
FINALLY BOB one of my favorite albums all time
Finally! 🔥LIFE is and will always be my fav song on here.
Spin Move is insane.
I saw him in South Africa in 2021. If you get a chance, see him live. I was a casual fan and had the best time.
Bob u deserve more subs love u!!
One of the best albums of 2018 and it didn’t even get the critical acclaim it deserved
Favorite review ever! Raw. Earned a new subscriber
Yes, finally I’m so happy your reacting to it
