Thanks for sharing this story. I'm sure it's not easy, both because it's a complicated and lengthy tale AND because you don't want to appear "unprofessional", but I think it's an absolutely important lesson to share with the rest of us small business folk. I had a similar situation with a wholesale customer who ordered a bulk amount of Christmas-specific products (Christmas in design and in fragrance) just a couple of days before the holidays. She had ordered multiple times before and was clearly going through the product quickly and whilst I didn't want to say "are you sure you want this many Christmas candles 4 days before Christmas?", that's what we were thinking. She then turned around and left a scathing review on one of our wholesale platforms about how these candles don't sell well after Christmas 🤦♀. She came back later as well, acting as though nothing had happened, without any understanding of how her behavior impacts my decision to work with her. I agree it is 100% perplexing. When I started my business, I made the decision to start each relationship by giving people the benefit of the doubt and not assuming that anyone is out to get anyone else...but I also know that as a small business owner, I have the ability to say no and I will exercise it. Good for you both, and good for you for not letting her succeed in making you feel bad for any success you have already had (and the success I wish you both going forward!). You were perfectly willing to supply her with beautiful, well-selling products from which she could generate her own success, but she's ruined that for herself. Wow...I really didn't mean to type such a long comment, but clearly your story resonated with me and I felt compelled to reach out and applaud you and share that your sharing was meaningful to me. 😘 Cheers, Amanda
Anyone who has watched your videos can see the hardwork you’ve both put in to making your business a success and any benefits you reap are richly deserved, unfortunately it doesn’t matter what you do there will always be bitter, resentful people around. On a happier note, loving the sage green 🤩
That's shocking behaviour by that other business, but the nerve of some people doesn't surprise me. Good on you for sticking to your principles! Setting good boundaries especially in business is essential. I learnt that the hard way. Love your vlogs, I look forward to them every week 🥰💜
It never ceases to amaze me how when people *know* they're wrong they go from passive aggressive to flat out belligerent in no time flat. I'm sorry you had to deal with all of that to get what was rightfully yours. And I'm so glad you fired that stockist! ❤️ Onward and upward! 👏👏
The audacity of some people is unbelievable! Thanks for sharing this because it happens more time than you would think. Wholesale is a great way to drive volume (& cash) but it comes with its share of risks and it is good that people see that too. Well done for sharing this!
Yes please Georgina, it'd be really helpful if you would make the video you mentioned. Who would've known you'd find yourselves dealing with that kind of nonsense from a so-called 'professional' company. Well actually, she's obviously far from professional, given the things she said. Nobody would ever go into business if we all worked on the basis that she seemed to want... ie, 'I will pay you when I can'. Argh! Made me angry listening to it! You're also right that it really doesn't seem to be talked about much, so good on you for airing it. Thanks again, and I'll be looking out for that video when you've had time to do it. Good girl ya'self! :)
Thank you so much for sharing! Unbelievable! That lady! I am annoyed for you! You've done everything right ✅ and kicked some ass - business is business 😃🥂
Oh wow, some people are unbelievable, I cannot believe the customer thought you would want to work with them after the way they behaved! You mentioned doing a video on wholesale business etc. as a new small business owner I would be very interested in seeing that, I have a lot to learn and would really appreciate you sharing the information you have learned from your experiences.
Thank you for sharing this story. I never offered 30 day accounts due to the sneaky stockists playing games. I would make them pay upfront before O even made a batch of soap or candles.. business is tricky isn't it.. basically they shouldn't buy products if they can't afford it..
Hi, love your videos and sorry about your experience, people can be terrible sometimes! I have a question, when you are pouring your candles with the piston funnel, do you have to keep your jug of wax/fo mixture on something warm to stop it cooling down or do you just work really fast and the last few you pour are already starting to go cloudy by the time you get to the end? I hope that makes sense! I was just wondering if you were keeping the mixture warm somewhere. Thanks so much! ☺️ x
Hey, would be great if you made a video about wholesale 👍 Can't believe that happened to you but strangely I was wondering how the wholesale and payment side of things worked the other day 🤷♀️ xxx
What nerve of that customer! I am always worried about the 30-day payment for my wholesale orders, but I haven't had a problem so far. Thanks for such a great vlog.
Thank you for hi-lighting how business to business credit works and how it affects cashflow. That stockist clearly does not respect you or your business so have lost the right to retail your product. Well done for following through!
Hey Hey - I do all my wholesale through a company called Faire. They actually handle all of the payment for you, they will pay you and handle the collection from the client - even offer them credit. If you bring them the stockist there is absolutely no fee to you. Check them out as they are in the UK now. I love them!!!
Wow! She doesn’t deserve to sell your goods. It’s literally just business and she clearly has no idea how to run one. To make it personal is her way of distracting from her inability to run a profitable business.
What a cheek! Your dates and how much you spend on them and your private life in general has nothing to do with the business she is doing with you 😂 what a joke!

Regardless of the amount you pay your bills. The goods were sent and that business needs to pay what is outstanding.

Wow that customer is insane. But, it was a really good entertaining story 🤣 I’m glad you guys decided to cut ties with her.
Well done for sharing.

Love the green 'sage' colour ! 😉
About the stockist 'soap' story: well done!

Would love a video on wholesale

New to candle making and want to eventually do a business would love to know more about the whole sale process

So did her action cause you all to stop doing wholesale
what degrees are you pouring your wax
It sounds like that wholesale customer has done it before. What’s worse they’ll move on the the next victim. Glad you got your money though.
