The rather dubious side leaner

This video is a about a very large side leaning Redwood tree from the summer of 2023. The hinge wood was not very strong and there was also some rot in places. The bucking was also dubious because it was uphill bucking on very steep ground.

Yes it was popping pretty good....that one had me stressed out with it's weak hinge wood and a very undesirable amount of side lean!!

Redwood is pretty brittle and doesn't hang on like fir or spruce. Only so much you can do except be safe. You did good, Dan.

Thanks Steve...and yes ...Redwood just does not have the tensile strength of Fir or Spruce. When it has heavy side lean it likes to ...Pop! in one fell swoop...and over sideways it goes. Thankfully that big boy hung in there!
