I’m glad you let this video run long. If something is truly interesting there is no reason to rush the presenter or the viewer.
This is fantastic - thank you!

I wanted to build a backup distributor for my 1928 standard Phaeton and tried watching many videos from all the well-known names... Most were just downright confusing as they started out with all kinds of parts on their workbench and then tried to describe the process. This video is by far the best because it shows the sequence step-by-step starting with the removal of the distributor and ending up with reinstallation with all steps along the way. Outstanding, the best one on UA-cam by far!!!

Thank you for your comment. Filming George is an honor because he has so much great knowledge on Model A's. I try to edit the content down to 3 minutes or less because that is what I hear people like to scroll through, but I just can't. I figure people can fast-forward if the video is too long. Or for people like yourself, it is just what you're looking for. I'm glad we were able to help you out. - Ahna

Mr Sage, I made a copy of your 'distributorblok' and started taking 3 of them apart for a total rebuild just now! It makes the job so much more easy.

For a flat slotted screw holder I like the one I used at IBM. It had flat pieces of spring steel which fit in the screw head. I can't describe it in words, but you could use it with one hand and it released with a push of a button. I sure wish I hadn't lost it 25 years ago.

Fantastic video, thank you so much for taking the time to make this. I know that's a hassle but I sure appreciate it. I have to do all that. I almost bought a shot press For the bushings, this is the best video I have seen on distributors ,the very best. Where can I get the centering block that you used on the half? Inch threaded rod to remthe bushes to keep everything centered. Also what would be the proper name for that tool. I've seen it on a video where they held the ringing tool. Just in advice and with both bushings in the operator just picked the distributor base up-and-down 3 or 4 times your way just seems so much more intelligent. Again thank you for making that video

By far this is the best rebuild in great detail. That reamer was great so was the points adjustment tool. I'm looking for them as I write this. Thank you

@4:25.Thank you for all of your invaluable expertise! What is your feeling about float a motors. Hearing a lot of differing opinions.I installed them years ago because of Les Andrews manual showing their installaton procedure.Thank you!

    Fantastic video.
I realise now where I went wrong rebuilding mine. I used a 1/2" tap which wouldn't bite onto the old bushes due to them being too worn. A 1/4 NPT tapered tap would have done the trick and saved me a lot of headaches getting them out.
Lots of other great tips in there too.
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thank You George for this video --- I am just going through my distributor now. I like your wood fixture for holding and doing the work to the distributor --- Good Idea. Did not know about the lower plate having a brass spring loaded plate that eliminates the need for the wire between the upper and lower plate / nor did I know about the gap setting between rotor and contacts in the distributor body. --------- Thank You Again and Happy New Year -------- Rodney PS --- What was the steel strip on the side of your fixture used for?

Thank you for your great video. Two questions on your tools. Where did you find the tapered sleeve? I checked McMaster Carr and no luck. 2nd question what is the name on the screw holder? You should know my old Pinto had the same system for setting its points.

The tapered sleeve comes with that type of reamer. I think it's called a screw starter.
