    Man this laptop is so cool because it doesn't drawn to much power. Every cpu that uses more than 60W it will reach 90°C.😊

    As always thank you for the video.... I also purchased 1g of Silver King. For years I have used Noctua NT-H1 and have always been impressed with the improvement in Temps. I decided to give this stuff a try.... More nerve racking than I was expecting. I have 2 gaming laptops both are i7 10th gen., one has an RTX 2070 (Acer Predator 17.3 inch mine) the other has the RTX 2070 Super (MSi Raider GE66 wife's). I replaced the factory grease in the Acer last year and have been happy with the results, 5-10 degrees accross the board with no thermal throattling or voltage changes. The MSi on the other hand is a hot plate.... Reaching as high as 94c on the CPU and 80c on the GPU. I am pretty sure this is where the CPU begins to throattle. I tried your way buy adding the electrical tape using an Exacto Knife. I believe it's there cooler design as my cooling temps were all over the place. I tried to re-tape, same thing. I was not comfortable removing the liquid metal so a friend of mine gave me another idea. I removed the tape and used a clear coat liquid nail protector.... It worked..... These improvements are almost the same as my Preditor using really good HTG..... Im really debating if I want to use the Liquid metal on the Predator.
    CPU Idle - High 58c to 49c / Unigine (2 hours) High 94c to 84c
    GPU idle - High 51c to 49c / Unigine (2 hours) High 80c to 75c

      You are welcome and congrats on your lower temperatures. I recently made a fan replacement video on the Acer Nitro 5. After this thermal test I removed the liquid metal from the machine. During the replacement I saw pitting on the heatsink that seems to be growing. I just wanted to let you know. I'm not sure if Acer uses pure copper or some kind of alloy but its not good. You can see in this video. ua-cam.com/video/KItYeLmy_Ag/v-deo.html
      Just keep an eye on it.

      @@Meanpooh how did you remove it? It roles so you can't wipe... Scares me a little. Also i don't feel they used enough of the liquid memory cooling material. I have seen the pads but not the liquid...
      EDIT.... The video link you sent answered my last questions thanks K5 pro it is.

      I used a cotton swab. I kept rolling it around and it eventually started to come up. It takes a few minutes. When there was just residue remaining, I used a paper towel by gently dabbing at the surface. Finally I used alcohol in the paper towel to finish up. As you can see once it’s applied it really never leaves. I guess when I was running those benchmarks, the liquid metal started to react with the help of heat. Even when I removed all I could, and also in this video, there is always a dark residue that comes off.

    For beginners, I would like to point out that he did add a bit too much in both the CPU and GPU in this video. There should not be an bleed over to the tapes when you are applying. Also, use high heat resistant tape around the CPU and/or GPU and keep it there when you mount the heat sink, it will not affect performance. This will make spillage, if any, much safer as the metal will not touch any capacitors or components at least around the CPU/GPU.

    • @Meanpooh
      @Meanpooh  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing. I noticed that but I repasted the heatsink and the CPU and GPU with that one drop. Over the course of the test I removed and applied it 4 times before I finally recorded the values. This could be a bad batch and will try Conductonaut.

    • @Meanpooh

      I suggest you to do the re-paste process again. This time, spend more time to clean as much as possible and don't forget to clean the old paste on the heatsink and the chips before you re-apply the new paste.

      @ArtisChronicles 4 роки тому

      @Caneck Alvarez I dunno anything about mx-5, but I'll say this mx-4 isn't good for direct die applications like this. While it's not conductive it tends to degrade in performance quickly in these types of applications.

      You have a few options. You could:
      1 Return it and try a different brand.
      2 Repaste
      3 Run using Power Saver profile.
      There is no undervolt support. I have been making videos on this machine since its release with every problem that I have encountered.
      There will be no way to fix this until the machines get thicker, fans get bigger and the CPU and GPU get more efficient. The faster they go, the more heat is produced.
