Karen I have been going to auctions forever even way back when they had them at the auction house where you could attend. Now you have one day to come in and preview and then you bid on line and then the day that it says to pick up or you have to be there or forfeit. So glad you have gotten into this I absolutely love it especially because the prices are fantastic especially when it's online and you are not bidding face to face against anyone
That was a very good quality & interesting video. I spent a few years as an Antique Dealer & I have to say I love going to a good auction ~ aside from the treasures/furniture/jewellry ~ the excitement, camaraderie, the wonderful food & auction house staff ~ a really fun time. My business partener & I would go most Wed nights & we had to be careful not to bid against each other. One of us would sit on our hands while the other one bid ~ lol! Now I am retired & follow online auctions. You are correct! Beautiful furniture is being sold for a 'steal' ~ very inexpensively!! Patty 🤩💕 Alberta Canada 🇨🇦🍁
I do well with online auctions. I bought the contents of a walk in closet for 67 bucks and many things sell for pretty cheap at auction. The auctions that is harder to get good prices are collector auctions because you are bidding against collectors. when things get better and we can actually go to an auction I recommend bodnars auction in New Jersey. Its probably 200 miles from you but they have three auctioneers doing auctions at the same time for about 16 hours straight. Bring a truck because there are lots of great deals. It is truly remarkable
Hi Karen! That was fun, first seeing the items and Then the actual auction. Loved the trunk that you purchased!! Can’t wait to see it in your home, it should look really good. And what an amazing price too! Thanks Karen , cheers, Pat
Those moccasins! Jaw-dropping beauty. What variety. What patterns and colors. What skill. What meaning and spirit stitched into them. I kept backing up your video to watch over and over, stop the progress here and there. Thank you for your time and dedication to that portion of the auction's offerings.
When I married in 1970, we bought our first home and furnished it completely with auction buys. Thanks for taking me on a wonderful stroll down memory lane. Stay safe!
Karen love your videos and learning about clothes and collectibles. Personal question. Your makeup is lovely. You have wonderful skin. I am a mature woman older than you. What foundation/moisturizer do you use. Please share. Thanks 😊
Absolutely loved this video! I used to frequent auctions before the pandemic, so it almost brought tears to my eyes to experience this with you. I love that you are discriminating about what you purchase even tho it's tempting to really load up.
Gorgeous! The auctions here (mid Michigan area) to my knowledge, are all online. I can only look at photos online and then purchase and look at the items in person when I pick them up. I’ve made quite a bit of money from these auctions. My favorite so far was a lot of Boy Scout patches which I picked up as a lot and parted out individually. They have been dining very well. Thanks for bringing us to the auction!
I had one of the mother of pearl boxes, they are common, made in Egypt, if I remember correctly. I bought mine about 14 years ago at the Philadelphia Art Museum gift shop, I paid $11 for it back then.
Iron Eyes Cody! He was an Italian-American actor who portrayed Native Americans in Hollywood films. Most people remember him as the "Crying Indian" in the Keep America Beautiful public service announcements in the early 70s!
I love the follow up at the end of this video. This is unique and interesting to see. Thank you for including your youtube earnings. I love your soft voice and excellent content.
Hi Karen - is that porous-type stone alabaster? I'm not sure, but that's what popped into my head. Thank you for taking us along ! I hope to go to some auctions in the spring. Here in New England, Connecticut specifically, we are overrun with antique stores so lots of treasures. Stay safe!
Love the Indian artifacts. Wish my family had collected some from my ancestors, but during the depression they worked hard to eliminate this heritage from our family. So sad.
The milk glass hobnail piece you were touching is an epergne centerpiece. They're usually silver or glass. I've seen more in glass but the one silver one I saw was huge! Those hand beaded moccasins are GORGEOUS and the afghan absolutely magnificent!! As usual you have excellent taste. I had bid on that Ephraim pinecone jar for our cabin but it quickly was out of my price range. Very happy for you to have gotten such a great profit though!
@@teresadoherty1853 yes the brand could be Fenton but the piece itself is called an epergne. I'm sorry I should have clarified that. I think they are beautiful.
Karen, that epergne is beautiful. Even though it's hobnail milk glass, I buy them when I can. They always sell. Lol...never heard it called jack in the pulpit?
@A Girl and Her Work Boots Well ya learn something new everyday. LOL I had just never heard that before. It's too cute. Now I need to look that flower uo. Thanks so much!!
That is very helpful information, and it is remarkable the amount of restraint you have. I, on the other hand, have zero jiminy crickets on my shoulder, absolutely zero. If I did, he would have gotten fed up with me and left me to my own devices long ago. If I like it, and it is a good deal, I get it for resale. I have a house full of things to put on EBay. I admire your discipline, which I think I tell you any time I comment. If it helps, I think the acorn urn, or ginger jar or maybe it was listed as a vase? The actual shape of it resembles an acorn, to me. So there’s always that! Learned a lot, as always. You are a good reminder to me that just because I can make a buck on 100 items, or I can make $1000 on one, and being disciplined and setting up a strategy pays off in many ways. Good job! Thank you for your sharing your experience. It helps me exponentially, for certain.
I taught preschool in the 80’s and 90’s and my husband made a small clothesline on a stand and I had doll clothes and small clothespins. The children were from homes with dryers so we talked about what a clothesline was used for! Some had grandparents who still had one. Great fun, as Karen would say.
I'd love to use mine again but the spiders love it too! I'm in Australia and so are too many spiders! I absolutely love hanging my clothes on a clothesline 🙄ah well😎
In Europe and UK a clothesline is normal, even if it’s just strung from your apartment window. I’m amazed at the use of tumble dryers in the USA. The quality of the clothing must surely diminish faster than line dried. And what about electricity bills? Must be astronomical!
Karen I love your videos I love watching you you are so sweet however sometimes say drag gone maybe you should think about not making them so long some of us don’t have 2030 minutes to sit and watch your videos just kind of like maybe the highlights would be awesome
If you are asking me, I like them even longer than 20 mins. This one was very interesting and you showed us many beautiful pieces. And about the baskets: people must have a lot of spare money laying around to pay these very high prices for them. 😉
Karen thank you so much for your help for me to see a live auction. I appreciate it very much. The afghan was awesome. Thank you!
Karen I just love your adventures!
Thanks for taking us along with you! Lots of great stuff at auctions!
XOXO Celine from List Perfectly
I believe the figure of the dog and child is Alabaster. Gorgeous
Thanks so much!
I enjoy your videos!! Love the good vibes!✌️🙏🏻👍😘🤩👌😎🥰😍
The beaded moccasins are beautiful. I do Traditional stitching beadwork

Another great video! Loved the vintage hat!!

My goodness, life looks so normal where you are! Travelling and going to auctions, how wonderful!
Thanks for video!
Concerning the afghan, look up mosaic crochet on youtube. The lady in Iceland does some beautiful work. Shows how to also.
Another great video! Thank you Karen🥰
Before I retired I sold area rugs. It was like working in an art gallery. Paid well too.

Ur addicted now, lol. Me too. I luv auctions, whether online or in person.

Those beaded Moccasins are worth thousands of dollars !!!
Thank you Karen for your sharing your Beautiful ideas, Happy Valentines Day to you and your daughters
💌💝
Omg ...loVe that Afghan!!!!😍 auctions are my absolute favorite!!!🧡💙🧡💙
Lovely video--Thanks for taking the time to film and share your experiences.
Great video. Very interesting and happy you are doing well selling your purchases from the auctions.
I always shy away from American Indian items because I worry about authentication on eBay. Is that anything to worry about?
Congratulations on your success with Auctions! I love to see how well you are doing and having fun doing it.
The dog and child statuette is likely Parian Ware and is based on the famous painting “Can’t you talk”
Really interesting furniture prices.

You’re so kind! I switch all the time 😁
The Mille fiori egg was gorgeous. Looks great to me. Don't know why the buyer wasn't happy. It had good photos.
You seem more happy and relaxed coming from the auction. Maybe you should fit it in once a month or so, for you.
I’ve been going every week for a while now! 😁👍
Absolutely loved this video! I used to frequent auctions before the pandemic, so it almost brought tears to my eyes to experience this with you. I love that you are discriminating about what you purchase even tho it's tempting to really load up.
I could seriously watch your videos all day
Thanks so much!
Love auctions! Love the pinecone piece!
Your videos are always the best!!!
Thanks for bringing us to the auction!💞

Awesome. I’d love to go to an Auction sometime. 👍🏻❤️
The trumpet hobnail piece is an epergne vase. Love your videos. Happy hunting!

I thought it was Fenton. Check out crazy lamp lady she has one on her ebay list?

In my experience some damage on an antique rug is acceptable. I hope the person returned the egg they didn't like!
What type of premium do you pay?
12%
I wonder how many people know what "a clothesline" is. Lol.
I taught preschool in the 80’s and 90’s and my husband made a small clothesline on a stand and I had doll clothes and small clothespins. The children were from homes with dryers so we talked about what a clothesline was used for! Some had grandparents who still had one. Great fun, as Karen would say.
That's so true. I LOVE my clothesline and even try to use it in winter. The smell of sheets dried out on the line is so awesome!
In my area, they are commonly used 😁
I'd love to use mine again but the spiders love it too! I'm in Australia and so are too many spiders! I absolutely love hanging my clothes on a clothesline 🙄ah well😎
