Well if you were born in the 2000's and didnt listen to rock music, it'd be pretty easy to miss it. Not all of us are old fogeys who grew up with this on the radio and at weekend keggers LOL
I don't know about you, but seeing people react to songs like this without ever having heard them before makes me feel really old. LOL I was well on my way when this song came out, so I am no spring chicken to begin with, but MAN these 80s tracks bring back some really good memories. Life just isn't like this any more, and music is nowhere near as good.
My husband and I had sold most of our possessions and set out on a journey to a new life in January 1987. This song was our song then and still is now!!
It's a rocking love story and continues throughout the bands history even until today. I was five months pregnant with my youngest in 1989 when I saw them perform this live. It's just an epic tune from the rock gods of arena rock and I loved it! I am so glad I lived in that era...
They made the rock n roll hall of fame and the song writers hall of fame. Almost 40 years of performing. Several number one albums. Many top 10 hits. 150 million albums sold. Grammy winners. Oscar nominated. One of the best story tellers in music. Some of there songs that were not big hits are amazing stories like Joey, Santa fe, dry County, and the distance. But very good songs like wanted dead or alive, blaze of glory, lay your hands on me, keep the faith, its my life, etc.... you could actually spend hours reacting to thier catalog. "Keep the faith" live at giant stadium is still one of the best performances of all time.
I love Bon Jovi! Seen them in concert many times and I’m in one of their music videos such amazing people! Jon is so humble! Dead or Alive is a must to react to! ❤️❤️🤞
@@jzekas21 yes Jenny is a sweetheart. And Jon Bon Jovi is very humble like you said. Sorry to keep going back and forth with you, but you just reminded me of a couple of encounters with these two artists we're talking about. So the band Bon Jovi played Hawaii a bunch of times, but I've never had the chance to meet Jon or the band when they played here on Oahu. I've actually met Jon on Maui, while vacationing. He just was really down to earth. Then there's Sugarland. They played here about 11 years ago or so. When they were here, they shot a video for "All I Want to Do ". This was a cooler encounter than the Bon Jovi one, because we actually hung out and played songs together. I could go on and on about how great that encounter was for me. Will always cherish that day.

Your point about rock and roll songs usually not telling a story is reasonably correct and well taken. Country/Western has a tradition of story-telling. The reason for this is a bit controversial: CW, like baseball, is more regional than national. Rock and roll is very, very national/international and the goal is not to appeal to a particular tradition or cultural touch point. Also, rock and roll has a different kind of poetry than CW. Springsteen does a bit of mix with his songs (take ‘The River’, ‘Rosalita’, or ‘Thunder Road) vs ‘Dancing in the Dark’. The first three tell more of a story, while the last one is a more traditional rock song. The reasons are a mix of tradition and audience. It isn’t that one is better than the other, it’s that where they come from and where they are going are much different.
