I don't know about you, but seeing people react to songs like this without ever having heard them before makes me feel really old. LOL
I was well on my way when this song came out, so I am no spring chicken to begin with, but MAN these 80s tracks bring back some really good memories. Life just isn't like this any more, and music is nowhere near as good.

It's a rocking love story and continues throughout the bands history even until today. I was five months pregnant with my youngest in 1989 when I saw them perform this live. It's just an epic tune from the rock gods of arena rock and I loved it! I am so glad I lived in that era...

They made the rock n roll hall of fame and the song writers hall of fame. Almost 40 years of performing. Several number one albums. Many top 10 hits. 150 million albums sold. Grammy winners. Oscar nominated. One of the best story tellers in music. Some of there songs that were not big hits are amazing stories like Joey, Santa fe, dry County, and the distance. But very good songs like wanted dead or alive, blaze of glory, lay your hands on me, keep the faith, its my life, etc.... you could actually spend hours reacting to thier catalog. "Keep the faith" live at giant stadium is still one of the best performances of all time.

@@jzekas21 yes Jenny is a sweetheart. And Jon Bon Jovi is very humble like you said. Sorry to keep going back and forth with you, but you just reminded me of a couple of encounters with these two artists we're talking about. So the band Bon Jovi played Hawaii a bunch of times, but I've never had the chance to meet Jon or the band when they played here on Oahu. I've actually met Jon on Maui, while vacationing. He just was really down to earth. Then there's Sugarland. They played here about 11 years ago or so. When they were here, they shot a video for "All I Want to Do ". This was a cooler encounter than the Bon Jovi one, because we actually hung out and played songs together. I could go on and on about how great that encounter was for me. Will always cherish that day.

@@christymurphy6571 Same here through and through. The couch we had was nasty ass vinyl old thing. My TV was a handmedown from my dad's shop (14 inch screen). Hell our first xmas I couldn't afford a tree - a coworker of my wife won a tree by some raffle and she already had it so my Now wife / then livein girlfriend walks in with a 4½ ft pine tree - we don't even have a stand or nothing. We lean it up in the corner and my mom donates two of her old strands of lights. My wife and i that year each gave each other an ornament for christmas that we still have today - that was 1992. So many nights of frozen pizza, or frozen burritos, or rice a roni in a taco shell for dinner. But we made it work and we're very happy and though not rich, we have what we need and ain't living paycheck to paycheck anymore. "You live for the fight when that's all that you got!"

This is really Part 1. It's My Life is Part 2! Tommy = Desmond Child, cowriter. Written by him, Jon Bon Jovi + Richie Sambora.
Recorded in Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver, Canada. 🇨🇦 1986. 35 years! 🎂
Produced by the late Bruce Fairbairn 🇨🇦. Engineered by Bob Rock 🇨🇦.
I was in Vancouver, but in a different part! 😖
This album put this recording studio, the producer + engineer into a must have for rock bands. 😃
After the Bon Jovi album was released, Glass Tiger, Aerosmith, The Cult, Whitesnake, Poison, AC/DC, Yes came to Vancouver for recording. Metallica hired Bob Rock. 🎸
Suggested next Bon Jovi video: Nwver Say Goodbye.
    RIP Bruce Fairbairn.
    🎸

Jon Bon Jovi…. My homey! Been to so many concerts. The “fun” is what the 80s was all about. The shows were a big production. The best bands had the talent to back it up. The fun is electric in person. This band is still going strong. John cut his hair and broke my heart. But he’s still hot. Ritchie left the band to take care of his daughter and his incredible guitar is missed. There are so many songs….

Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive (MV), Dry County (live Wembly 95), Keep the Faith (live 2001) majority of their songs are telling stories, like this one.

If you ever want to see an audience go completely nuts, just go to a BonJovi concert when they break out into this song and 20,000 people sing along through the entire thing.

Your point about rock and roll songs usually not telling a story is reasonably correct and well taken. Country/Western has a tradition of story-telling. The reason for this is a bit controversial: CW, like baseball, is more regional than national. Rock and roll is very, very national/international and the goal is not to appeal to a particular tradition or cultural touch point. Also, rock and roll has a different kind of poetry than CW. Springsteen does a bit of mix with his songs (take ‘The River’, ‘Rosalita’, or ‘Thunder Road) vs ‘Dancing in the Dark’. The first three tell more of a story, while the last one is a more traditional rock song. The reasons are a mix of tradition and audience. It isn’t that one is better than the other, it’s that where they come from and where they are going are much different.

When Van Halen had David Lee Roth as the frontman and singer. Later Van Halen has Sammy Hagar, The Red Rocker as the lead singer, Nobody could match David Lee's energy on stage, but Sammy is also amazing.
