So, this was actually 2 separate instances: the Frank Slide in 1903 & the Hillcrest in 1914? Were they both coal mining accidents? Are the 2 places near to each other? That was a huge loss of life for a small community. You can feel the heaviness & sorrow of what happened in places. I can see why you had to go back to the waterfall afterwards! Very soothing. Thank you again for sharing!
Two different incidences yes. When the area was originally being settled. The aboriginals of the area referred to the mountain as the moving mountain and wouldn’t settle near it.
Hi Chris, I've been there, and yes, I remember feeling the sadness. We have such beautiful places to visit in Alberta. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure with your mom.
I drove through the Frank Slide when I came for my interview in Fernie in 2016. It felt like the slide had just happened, not that had been nearly 100 years before. 90 seconds of devastation...absolutely heartbreaking. Thank you for this reminder of a sacred place.
Great Video
Thanks for being so aware & perceptive Chris🙏❤✊🏽
So sad all the lives lost. Thank you for sharing.
The weight of the area was so heavy
