Great repair! Fortunately this is the type of EC chip that programs itself on power up

Thank you very much! Yes for cases that must be programmed,we have the svod 3 programmer to program it on board. I will upload such a video very soon.

Nice, but why would IO chip get shorted from the drop? You would expect some component to be knocked off from it.

That's a good question! I dont have answer for that.

Glad to have found your channel. Is there a reason why you ground the positive meter lead when checking in diode mode? Does it make a difference? Are you looking for esd diode drops or something?

Hello! Thank you very much! The diode mode is quicker and measuring voltage drop to a load. Since is diode mode it is as having a diode connected to our probes so the anode is the positive. The "diode" is sending some voltage and the multimeter is sensing the voltage drop with the ground as reference. That's how I understand it correct me please if I am wrong.

@airENGYes, my question is really why you (and other YT repairers I've watched) apply a negative voltage to the circuit from the black DMM lead rather than the positive voltage from the red lead, which is more like what the circuit would normally see. I assume you all know something I don't. 😀 I think the diode mode is mainly used because it provides a larger voltage to the circuit than the Ohms range.

@@AnyrepairENG I think you should use the other way around.. that is why you are having negative before you reading.
