  • In this video I attempt to match a scene from the Social Network (2010), using my Panasonic S5 and some fairly low cost equipment. We look at the camera, lenses, lighting and colour grading used to achieve the final result.

    Just another example that it’s not about the tools, it’s about the master that’s using them🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥
    Great video and result

    Fellow S5 user. That was spot on. I'm impressed with how much detail was retained without artifact.

      @davidmultimedia2024 Рік тому

      You'll never get any artifacting if you light/expose properly, then set the dark mood in post like he did. In fact, if there was some artifacts, you'd be hiding them. Artifacts would be creeping in if you did the other way around (not enough light/bad exposure.. then bright it up in post would reveal and amplify those artifacts).

    Lol dude, this was an amazing match, done in your apartment... with one guy.
    The best experts will let you know that they will do whatever and use whatever to get the job done. People trying to impress will show off the most expensive equipment

    I think you did a great job and you make the grading seem so simple too - pretty cool how close you can get filming yourself at home.

    Love it! I thank you for this! This was VERY helpful to someone such as myself that is clueless about color grading! Actually, it's a game-changer for me! Very grateful and now a huge fan! Please keep this great info coming.

    Brilliant stuff man. You have better taste in cameras than furniture. Do you find yourself wishing you had an external recorder ? Ive been going back and forth on the s5, the IPB compression is what makes me hesitate, but when i compared the all-i data rates of the s5 ii x and did the math on it, the resolution on a per frame basis was worse. To throw a wrench into all of this: do you think v-log vs standard profiles made a difference? Will check out the rest of your channel.

    Looks great man! I think the Red is actually a touch softer. Did you add any denoising? That would soften the image just a little. I’d love to see it a little smoother but you nailed it!

    • @CarterCreativeContent
      @CarterCreativeContent  Рік тому

      I think the Red will just have a better image, combined with the better lighting, set etc. It's always going to look better than something shot in my living room 🤷🏽‍♂️👍

    Always had faith in Panasonic cameras. Having everything figured out i dont get why they wouldn't invest in Sony level autofocus as they would rule the camera world if that were to happen 🥵

      Yes, I've heard that and would do so in Resolve. Though in Premiere, I've found things work better if you follow the progression through Lumetri as layed out in the panels.

    It's pretty close. fairly close. not very very close. but good. what you got wasn't thanks to the camera though.
    you could've gotten that with anything that shoots 1080p pretty much because there is no need for a lot of dynamic range - since there isn't much. higher bitrate, such as 10 bits is probably appreciated to get it nicely smooth. 4.2.2 is also kinda overkill for this low contrast. So yea, this was mostly skill, not camera. even my old XT2 could've done that I'm sure.
    BUT, skill is what you really want, camera is just a tool and camera's fade, skills do not. well done. was fun to watch.

    You do know that Social Network 2010 version is a low quality feed don't you? So, you matched a 2021 camera to bad low dynamic range internet copy of a Hollywood movie?

      @@CarterCreativeContent Merry Christmas. Actually yes. Transfer to DVD's are hit and miss. The DVD is not even close to being next to the source. I'm seeing major color shift in the highlights screen left (side of your face). Crushed shadows with zero color information, etc.
