How cursed we as humans are to feel loneliness, complete utter despair, to feel joy when things go well, to find and lose our special loved ones and to never be able to forget them no matter how hard we try. Pain is suffering for the one's we truly loved and for the things that never became. I hope that anyone who is going through life's pain can wake up and be made glad with this poem!!!
@rohinisubba1511 I never learned to value the happiness bc I never found it so instead I began valuing the pain. I was born with depression so every breath that I have taken has always had shadows and darkness in it. But it's all right, bc pain is my happiness.
I'm currently studying ancient love poetry and its always interesting to see that the human experience remains the same - even after thousands of years, the same feelings and emotions are echoed in poetry of this era. Great choice of poem, Illneas!
@@safim8217 .This poem is certainly not ancient. Pablo Neruda it could be argued, was one the greatest poets who ever lived. Certainly during this time frame, he was a force to be reckoned with. Buy the book, 10 love poems and a poem of despair.
I was reciting the original in spanish while seeing the video. This is the poem that sparked my love for poetry. My literature teacher loved this verse and would recite it over and over "es tan corto el amor y tan largo el olvido" which would be 'love is so short and forgetting is so long'. He passed away in 2018 and one of the things i enjoy the most to this day I owe it to him and to this poem.
Sometimes I wonder why I feel so comforted by sad poems like this...may be I cant really relate to the words fully but there is something in these verses that resonates with what goes inside me...
Please keep posting these videos, I do miss them sometimes, it’s like special ritual for my soul... This music, the narrator’s voice and the clips in the videos....it’s all real beauty to me... TY
achingly beautiful ♥️ I really love how you started the video with dim colour then went to black and white - to set the mood of the poem. Wonderful work, as always.
The fact that if you are heartbroken you will completely relate to every single word here, I Imagine that if you are happy in a relationship this will not hit you the way it's intended...... sadly every word spoken here I relate with. Love is so short, forgetting is so long
All the poetrys share the same amount of pain and the same pain be it of any artist, The same damn pain "love" Could you imagine you beautifully cursed love is?💗😭🌌
When love is gone .it can't be replaced ...like something else you replace. It dies.. we can still love the memories of being in love ....because it is a place we find in out souls we want to go back to....but it's gone ...... super video ....
An error occurred when I first clicked on the video: instead of showing the imagery, the screen was black. Somehow I found the blackness to be quite suitable. The void his devotion disappeared into. The emptiness his soul got swallowed by the moment they parted and how it continues to be swallowed every night in blindness. Beautiful poem, thank you for sharing 💓
I love how the music and the poem take us to a certain high of emotion and then ends. Just letting us go with this unsettling sadness, just like a lover leaving. Absolutely stunning work! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Was studying and making assignment when this came on my UA-cam Home as a suggestion. this is so beautiful. This is not imperfect. B/W edits are always perfect. 🌼
Lying in my bad with fever, it's 3 in the morning, or 4. I'm awake, or I'm not. Will I see the next day? Doesn't even matter, with me or without me, the world will be in chaos. Am I awake or am I not?
Pain its natural, loss, grief, death, depression is the glue.... Still it's natural.... And like a storm it all passes in time.... But every life has another storm around the corner it's just the nature of existence.... I mean how perfect would life be if it was always perfect
thank you for making this friend - i LOVE your original poetry but sometimes miss these beautiful pieces featuring "established" poets that u used to create
SOPHIE - Lili You know you don’t belong to us he said unto the child We found you poorly in the swamp deep within the mire Your eyes bright red by moonlight, grey blue before the fire We knew that you were different, a difference deep and wild And we were drawn by deepest love this pen cannot explain No thoughts could ever pass our minds of fleeing from the pain. - The pain of one so young and cold we took from death’s dark claws As you grew within our hovel, submissive, bright and smart A child, a girl with deep black curls, brown skin without a flaw We loved you more as time passed by and death called once again To take the man that you called Pa. You never shed a tear You watched the Moon, you understood as Nature made its claim. - I noticed then you hardly slept, in silent meditation deep Things would move before your stare, you never suffered ills You would sing verse you weren’t taught, draw creatures from their sleep And they would sing along with you, nightbirds, raccoons and frogs Until an orchestra of sound rose up so beautiful to hear Surprising to myself as well, I never suffered fear. - But when you grew past childhood, when blood began to flow You ventured nightly through the woods following the song That seemed to spring from all the trees, song I didn’t know When young men came along to call, they froze at your red eyes And went away not to return, then rumors began to grow Fear from all the Villagers, the stories, hate and cries. - One bright morning we were taken by a tap upon our door Standing there all dressed in brown, four girls of Sophie’s age They came inside and took her hand, outside a man on horse She knew them all, they took a draught, then all sat on the floor A chant began, rose to a scream, the sound was tempest worse They took her then, she bade Goodbye, her happiness I saw. - I live alone, shunned by all, inside my mind I know When Moonlight falls and nightbirds sing I feel that I am blessed She’s watching o’er my life and trials, she brings the sun and snow And as I age I feel her here when chairs and tables move A whisper low, a song I hear, the call of her pet crow. Blessed be.
Jaante ho jaise main tumhe pehli baar mili thi toh vo din tumahare liye remarkable Hai teekh vaise hi mere liye jab Mera punar huva Tha and when I first fell in love with you in holy week vo mere liye remarkable Hai. Main vo din kabhi nahi bhul sakti

Is being able to remember the curse, or would it be easily forgetting that would be?
I'd like to think it as something necessary and beautiful, a sort of blessing...because there's pain, we know the value of happiness too...

"Love is so short, forgetting is so long."💔
That hit hard 💔
Love is so fast, forgetting is so slow.

Great choice of poem, Illneas!
For what it’s worth, I completely agree with your observation, Safi. Good luck with your studies.

At the most basic level- we all crave love. We all want to be understood & to understand.

Neruda puts the simplest of human thoughts and experiences and puts them into a beautiful poem. one example is "Keeping Quiet"
that poem destroyed my heart. i literally can not stop crying, it is so beautiful
There's something special about this poem. It's so genuine and it feels like , I wrote it... and in a way i didn't... I love it..
This was the poem that introduced me to Neruda's work. Thank you so much for showcasing this here! 🌻
Yeah...same for me
Same to you bro
Same, now I'm a wreck.

My favorite poem of all time uploaded by my favorite artist
Just made my day
“I no longer love her that’s certain, but maybe I love her.”💔
The words, the voice, the video ... I cried and no, this is not because I'm sad, I'm touched. I didn't cry for 4 years! Thank you for redeeming me! 💜💜
the voice ~ perfect along everything else. im so glad we get to hear Tom Bedlam again ♥

~Love is so short , forgetting is so long~ so true
Everyone writes.
But it's more than writing when it is done by writers.

Beautiful
SOPHIE - Lili
You know you don’t belong to us he said unto the child
We found you poorly in the swamp deep within the mire
Your eyes bright red by moonlight, grey blue before the fire
We knew that you were different, a difference deep and wild
And we were drawn by deepest love this pen cannot explain
No thoughts could ever pass our minds of fleeing from the pain. -
The pain of one so young and cold we took from death’s dark claws
As you grew within our hovel, submissive, bright and smart
A child, a girl with deep black curls, brown skin without a flaw
We loved you more as time passed by and death called once again
To take the man that you called Pa. You never shed a tear
You watched the Moon, you understood as Nature made its claim. -
I noticed then you hardly slept, in silent meditation deep
Things would move before your stare, you never suffered ills
You would sing verse you weren’t taught, draw creatures from their sleep
And they would sing along with you, nightbirds, raccoons and frogs
Until an orchestra of sound rose up so beautiful to hear
Surprising to myself as well, I never suffered fear. -
But when you grew past childhood, when blood began to flow
You ventured nightly through the woods following the song
That seemed to spring from all the trees, song I didn’t know
When young men came along to call, they froze at your red eyes
And went away not to return, then rumors began to grow
Fear from all the Villagers, the stories, hate and cries. -
One bright morning we were taken by a tap upon our door
Standing there all dressed in brown, four girls of Sophie’s age
They came inside and took her hand, outside a man on horse
She knew them all, they took a draught, then all sat on the floor
A chant began, rose to a scream, the sound was tempest worse
They took her then, she bade Goodbye, her happiness I saw. -
I live alone, shunned by all, inside my mind I know
When Moonlight falls and nightbirds sing I feel that I am blessed
She’s watching o’er my life and trials, she brings the sun and snow
And as I age I feel her here when chairs and tables move
A whisper low, a song I hear, the call of her pet crow.
Blessed be.
