  • When you have an audience there is always a voice inside of you asking the question "what will they like" and most of the time that's a really toxic thought for a creator. This video I believe is pure in the sense that I did it for myself and I liked it. Hope you like it as well

🔰Before You Judge Someone by illneas
If we wrote a poem about your childhood
could we go and live there?
    A poem about lost balls
    toy soldiers
    and endless summers
If you are afraid of growing up
we can hide in a verse about morning cartoons and cereal
    If you hate your job
    we can play hide
    and never actually seek
    When you feel lonely
you can live again your coziest snow day
Let's write a verse about how much we hate adults
and let's hope that time stops
Let's write about boys that know how to feel
and girls that don't wear pink
until the illusion of identity shatters like our dreams
    This poem isn't about regrets
    or wasted potential
This poem is our new home
    with pillows from your sofa
With verses about hugs and your friends
Let's write a verse about the times you cried
    and how it shaped you
Let's create stories about bravery and bruises
and how the bullies of the world
will always be afraid to look you in the eyes
Let's live in a poem about old bikes
    scraped knees
    first kisses
    and forgotten lullabies
    Childhood was never about carelessness
    or unlimited possibilities
Just the ability to make kinder worlds
If we wrote a poem about a stranger's childhood, would you go and live there?
you might write about friendless mornings
    or wasted potential
    Lines about unrequited love
Maybe you'll have to rhyme violence with innocence
Can you create metaphors about visible and invisible scars?
The smell of alcohol and the echoes of screams
Be prepared to write verses about death
    or verses about rape
Your story might include first breaths in the war
Or last breaths anywhere in the world
Bear in mind that you might write about the broken
that became worst than their parents
Or about the broken that never met their parents
We design societies about fairness and balance
but we seem to forget that our adulthood
    is affecting someone else's childhood
We walk this earth convinced this game will never be fair
even though we never tried to fix it
But between the horror and the tenderness
There are the few people that were dealt a bad hand
and managed to change the narrative
The people that refused to become bitter
    when everyone expected them to
The brave souls that created something out of nothing
We are in this together but each one of us is playing a very different game
    Some people carry heavy shadows
Some people play against greater odds than you
    and win
    These people when they smile
    the universe smiles with them
    Before you judge someone,
    think about that

"Before you judge someone, think about that." This reminds me of a quote in the great Gatsby, "before you judge someone, just know that everyone in the world hasn't had the same privileges that you have had." It's very interesting that childhood is what affects your entire adulthood and at the same time, your entire adulthood affects someone else's childhood. I hadn't realized that until this poem. THIS IS YOUR BEST POEM YET. Everything you create always finds a way into my heart. PLEASE KEEP IT COMING.

“we design societies about fairness and balance, but we seem to forget that our adulthood, is affecting someone else’s childhood” - This is an intense verse, that should be plastered all over the world. Adults may fail to remember their childhood, when we are focusing on adulthood and our responsibilities in society. We never truly forget it, but there are times it becomes a distant memory. Or perhaps we lock it in that vault for various reasons/shadows. This is a beautiful reminder of how fragile childhood really is. How fragile adulthood is. How fragile the cycle of life is. We have the power to positively change the next generation. As a Mother, and human, I’m deeply grateful for this poem. Thank you my friend. ♥️ This is beyond powerful. Beautiful work all around, as always. ✨

“Childhood was never about carelessness or unlimited possibilities, just the ability to make kinder worlds.”
I’m 25 now and when I look back I remember the feeling of carelessness as a kid and the feeling of invincibility that I could do anything. I think about how back then the adults in my life weren’t teaching me about the carelessness of childhood, they were just trying to show me an improved version of the world they grew up in. Trying to make a kinder world.
Now I’m a preschool teacher and I realized I’m not teaching kids about being careless or that the world has endless possibilities. I just try to show them how to be kind to their friends, I teach them about sharing, and how to acknowledge their emotions when they lose control of them. But to them they’ll grow up with the same feeling of carelessness and optimism as if that’s what their childhood was about, not knowing what the adults were doing above their line of sight.

You’ve made the best words to make us feel empathy towards those we consider not equal to us,

Very well said, and I'm truly moved! Perhaps the greatest act of courage is to show the world your scars. And when we see the world through the poet's scars, we not only
understand the world better, but we also learn new ways to feel it. I mean, the world exists to be understood, but perhaps the best way to understand it is by seeing it through people's scars. Great words!

The sketches, clay figures, paint, camera film are all in a room that is really the hidden part of a person, and no one not even the owner of this room have entered in a long time. This poem feels like returning to the room, opening the door, looking at everything inside and feeling like it was you, but a version of you you don't remember or feel slipping away. I feel this poem and the imagery capture the passing of time and how a person could reflect on that passing...really beautiful and thought provoking❤

Easily one of my favorites, it blows my mind that you wrote it. Its up there with lets raise children who love the unloved things. It made me feel seen and understood when you wrote about those with unfair and damaging childhoods as I couldn't entirely relate to the first half of the poem.

This piece is phenomenal. Are you published? Can I obtain a book of your work? I have adored your Bukowski pieces for years! I work in children's mental health- tiny souls that have been through more trauma and pain than most "normal" adults could even imagine. This piece shook me. ACES incarnate. Thank you for this! 🖤🖤🖤

hey Illneas, i guess thoughts like these are poems. and how do you fight the fear of a judge?
I write poems and thoughts too and I always near to share them to the world, near to share the liquid waste in my mind, the shadows growing, the unstable breath and the words changing. I swear one day I will. Meanwhile I could only listent to your indirect voice pretending that is mine. I't just, not fair. I would have a voice too.
So thank to you. Really, really thank you. This not imagination: you give the artists the desire to go on. So I go on, and I swear, go on you too! Don't give up. This is my favorite poem of yours.

Oooh my God...what a consequence...i was tired of the tug world nd scrolling sadly...nd found this...what an amazing poem...it is really a time for me that nature is pushing to become a bad nd tug persone like the rest but something inside me is saying no to that push...nd it's really encouraging when i listen to this poem....to try to make something out of nothing...

childhood was never about carelessness or unlimited possibilities.
Just the ability to create kinder worlds.
Kinder worlds we all deserve. Kinder worlds we all can create but choose not to.. Not for ourselves and for others..
Thank you for creating this masterpiece for people who can be in the middle of both extremes and choose kindness at the end.

today, I'm sick to the bone remembering my childhood. I am deeply deeply scarred and wounded. I wonder, after so many years of trying, is it possible for a person to heal those wounds at all. it just seems we learn how to cope, but we never truly heal.
thank you so much for yet another beautiful poem and work in general.
