Hi Kramer , my machinist brother in law made me a drill jig for both riser and limbs, removable drill guides for pin holes and limb screw insert . The jig is the bomb , perfect alignment with little effort. I would share the design if you like !

Just looked at the viewcount on this video and was stunned; you are criminally under viewed! Thank you for taking us along on this journey. I really enjoyed seeing the bow come together (though I admit I started watching the Mountain Bow saga only partway through) and the third-person omniscient narrator in this video was a fun touch! Really glad to see you like the final product; it is truly a work of art.

I wouldn't beat yourself up. You and I both have broken too many bows before.
This one sounds excellent. Looks a bit funny. Laminate are really tough. That's why I won't. I'll stick with self bows from a carefully selected stave and slowly seasoned.
Keep going with all your fancy equipment and workshop. At least one of us has it.

Lesson I learned years ago faster work leads to more screwups. Now, to get your fancy look to the handle, stabilize the single piece riser in the design you like then inlay the wood patterns you like on the sides. It would take more time but you'd get the look you wanted. You might even get ambitious and use precut gemstone in the inlays. Things like turquoise, mother of pearl, black onyx, buffalo horn and he like. I used to work in a knife store and I saw a $56.00 Buck knife become a $350.00 David Yellow Horse Buck Knife due to his handle inlays.

I've been buying bowstrings from Shatterproof for awhile now. Customer service is excellent. I've screwed up had to cut a string and he still replaced it for me. And I didn't even ask him to. I would have been more than happy to pay for the extra one.

Hey Kramer. I'm so happy for you that your business has grown the way it has. I appreciate your whole approach, man. I hope the growth is even more satisfying for you to experience as it is for me to watch! I have an idea for a video. You probably get this all the time?? Would you review other people's bows that were only made because or your channel? I have an Ipe/bamboo bow that I made during the pandemic for my wife (we were dating at the time). Because of you, I re-fell in love with shooting. I grew up shooting my dad's Jenning's Starlight 60# with pins, but completely fell for intuitive shooting. The bow is what it is, but it led to a marriage and it even inspired my neighbor's 14yo to take up archery! You are spreading good in the world. These stories should be told! If you want, I'll ship it to you, I can tell you the whole story of this bow, that you are a part of.
Regardless, wherever you are. I really do appreciate you. You're a good soul.

awesome vid. It's inspiring me to go and work on fixing the riser I made . Get it right. My skill set is much lower and my tool set is even lower. I have to level out my limb pockets cause they are causing a twist. Due to some wrist injuries I put a much higher grip on than other risers , something that will put the contact point into my palm without pushing my palm forward. though I am loving the design of your new bow. Am looking forward to seeing if it becomes part of your production line.

    Video ideas:
Extra large recurve, like what if you made your design but at 70inch?
I have 2 bear grizzlies from around 1972, What is different about “recurve” designs compared to reflex/deflex bows like you make? And why
Can you make ILF limbs? I would totally love some ILF limbs. Can you make a “bones bow ILF”?

  • @Scuba11Steve
    @Scuba11Steve 2 місяці тому

How heavy was the arrow? I’m curious how your bow compares with my recent changes to my hunting setup (which is apples and oranges as I’m shooting a compound, I know). I’m drawing just a hair under 60lbs shooting a 450 grain arrow at 250 fps (which is like winning the lottery at round numbers). At some point I’d love to put a decibel meter on it and see how quiet it is (especially with the heavier arrows vs the lighter ones I was shooting before).
One thing I think no one has done yet is talked about how momentum pairs with mechanical advantage created by a broadhead to create penetration. Much like how your limbs pair with your riser to create your performance, I think people neglect how the arrow pairs with the point to create penetrative performance.

But at this point you have what you set out for.
Working limbs for this riser design.
That you can make a different riser for.
The limbs are almost the harder part with all the theory and design that goes into your glue up, before a tiller ...

It's also cool your guardian angel narrating the video.
