    Great video! This helped me a lot to take apart and put back together my Mini Nightshade. 👍Unfortunately, my knife doesn't have those additional spring holes for adjusting the tension, but it came with a set of stiffer springs, though. 👌Thanks for sharing, take care and Cheers!

    Thanks. That was a MAJOR help. You and your video helped me successfully accomplish my first axis style lock disassembly. I've been reluctant to take my axis lock knives apart for years.
    Thanks so much!

    Unfortunately the new production of mini nightshades seem to have removed the numerous spring end holes. There is only 1 now. They send a different spring now in addition to the one that is in the knife upon shipment. I'm wondering what the difference is here. The "Silver" colored spring is in there now, but they also included a more "Bronze" colored one. I'm looking for more tension. Any ideas Vu?

      Yeah! My buddy used the spare springs, which are stronger! He said it was 100% better tension! Since it takes a bit of an effort to change both sides... go ahead and switch out one side spring and see if that is enough tension. If it isn't, swap both sides.

      Good job, Vu! Glad I saw this! I was ready to return my Mininightshade because of its weak detent, but this comment drew my attention to the “spare” Omega springs that came with it. It was a chore (for me), but replacing both thicker-gauge springs for the stock ones did the trick!

    Looked this for the sole purpose I Bought a premium s35vn carbon version, lost it. Got the 14c28n with green g10 and bronze now I’ve just found my other one so I’m gonna replace the orange thumb stub and spacer with the bronze ones think it’ll look🔥

    *Another valuable / beneficial video by you, for those interested in owning a particular blade, in this case the Mini Nightshade.*
    *Maybe ask Vosteed why those holes are so far back, there must be a reason they put them there.* 2:10 👍

    Considering that it is tricky to disassebly and considering that bearings is quicker becomes dirty and required maintainance, also because of points from my previous comments - better to use washers (not required milling in liners and can be bigger diameter)

  • @nextknife237
    @nextknife237 Рік тому +1

    what I am seeing: 1) milling in the liners for the bearings mades it super thin. Maybe ~0.5mm. Ceramiic bearings will make track there and metal there will become even thinner. 2) there is small deiameter bearings with small amount of bals... 1+2 - make this knife weak for the side preasure..even if it is tiny EDC knife

    so apparently vosteed changed the design, i just got mine in the mail thru amazon. its march 9th. anyways. let me explain. the reason why i got this knife was because its very similar to kizers clutch lock. i wont purchase another a reg cross bar lock unlessa its that clutch lock type of design. so here i am following along with your disassembly and low and behold there is only one hole for the omega spring to lock into... this knife sucks. the springs are so week and im pissed!! IN AMAZONS add for this knife it shows an exploded view as all the knife parts coming together and it shoes the tiny holes to have a less of detent on up to a strong detent... its like wtf!! this is my first vosteed purchase and man i was excited! what a complete let down! well thanks for the video. i hope your grows into everything you are hoping for! take care and F VOSTEED!!!

    • @vucachon
      @vucachon  5 місяців тому +1

      Ah man yeah! They changed it up because the Clutch-Lock has been patented by Kizer. So now, to use the adjustable holes, they have to get permission and/or pay. Yeah that sucks. If you haven't, try the thicker extra springs they provided. Maybe that'll help.
      And thank you for your time and words of encouragement!

      Is the tension light enough to open easily with a wrist flick?
      Personally I like it that way for certain knives. My drop bear is set loose for super fast deployment, but I use strong detent for my work knife. Just curious if the nightshade will flick open easy without having to pull the clutch lock.

    • @vucachon
      @vucachon  3 місяці тому +1

      @@JimboSlice02 you'll be able to wrist it open!

    • @JimboSlice02
      @JimboSlice02 3 місяці тому +1

      @@vucachon good to know, thanks! I might give it a try, but nothing beats the adjustability of the kizer clutch lock.

    • @vucachon
      @vucachon  3 місяці тому +1

      @JimboSlice02 you know what I did see? Vosteed has just developed their own version of the adjustable omega springs. Maybe they'll incorporate in newer runs. Currently, the Mini nightshade has 1 hole and extra set of stronger springs.

    My nightshade mini opens way too easily, no need the thumb stud at all. Is there a way to make it stay closed better?
