I just purchased the 8 plus and I have to say that I’m pleasantly impressed with Apple. I’ve always used Androids, so this is my first iPhone experience. The quality, aesthetic, functionality and battery life are like nothing I’ve ever used, all exceeded my expectations. Considering that the iPhone just released it’s second wave after this one and the 8 plus is still able to hold it’s own on the OS 13 reassures me that I made the right choice. My carrier had a sweet deal on that new iPhone, but I chose well with the 8 plus.
iPhone 8 Plus all day! The iPhone X looks cool, but I don't need to be spending $999 on a phone and the idea of losing the fingerprint scanner and reachability just does not work for me. I am living on an iPhone 6 and the jump from the 6 to 8 Plus is going to be plenty for me.
David Rasmussen My friend had the iPhone X So I tried using the camera in a not so well lit area, and honestly I didn't really like it. I can agree with you so much, man.
Exactly! I’ll believe it when I see it for myself. I have a 6S+ which is supposed to have 40% at the end of the day. I only get about 7.5 to 8 hours of usage. On work days I wake up at 5:45 and I’m up until 10 or 10:30. Barely enough
To be honest, the 8 plus still keeps up with the modern day iPhone models which I find pretty impressive, I got iPhone 8 Pluses 2 free ones for at&t trade in was a freaking bargain! Going from 6+ to 8+. Was like night and day. I won’t get rid of my 8 plus till I die honestly.
Here’s what I don’t understand and pease don’t bash me...I don’t get the hype about wireless charging... like don’t get me wrong it’s cool but I like to use my phone while it’s charging and you cant do that with wireless charging...maybe it’s just me but the only upside is you don’t have to deal with broken cables but that’s the only thing I can think of..
I agree. The only thing I can think of is breaking a charger or even the port if not properly inserting it. I think if it was more widely used, it would be cool because then you’d have charging stations at public places like coffee shops and airports (maybe they have that now and I just don’t know it!) I feel like it would also be easier for me to just carry my wire charger in my purse rather than a charging pad.
Got the 8 over the X only because of the lack of fingerprint scanner. People don't realize just how inconvenient it will be to have to put in your passcode every time you don't want to pick up your phone and look like you're taking a selfie. Plus having to swipe from the top for control center and no home button. I can see myself trying to swipe up but having the phone swipe sideways and vice-versa when I'm using it one-handed. Hopefully the next X-series phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back at least and I'll consider it.
James Stringam with it being a 3d scanner, you might not have to hold it up like that to unlock it. I'd be willing to bet that you can hold it normally and still unlock it
ChrisJ Fox I’m sure you’re right but I often use my phone while it’s lying flat on a table. I wouldn’t want to have to lean over it or pick it up every time I want to quickly check my email or something. I also use Apple Pay often, so same thing. Right now I can unlock and activate Apple Pay while it’s still in my pocket and just tap and done in one smooth motion. I don’t know. I’ll let UA-camrs do the detailed real-world testing on it before I sign up to be a guinea pig. Good news is that I have T-Mobile so I can swap my phone out three times a year.
James Stringam you don’t have to put your face directly in front on the phone. It can angle downwards. They portrayed that in the iphone x official video
Ive got the 6S too. the only thing that really bothers me is the speaker only on bottom of phone. Feels like I'm going def out of one ear trying to watch something. Plus battery is totally shot at this point.
I had the 6s, i would have kept it but i just couldnt stand the battery. Have the 7 now, going on 8 plus soon cuz the battery on it is going to shit as well
Have the 6s plus but like the guy above me said the battery is a problem for me plus I’ve had it for awhile and I like to switch every now and then so getting the 8 next week
Meme Chap if the battery going bad is your only issue why don’t you just get it replaced by Apple for like 80 bucks instead of dishing out at least 650 on a new iPhone?
The iPhone 6s battery isn’t as good bc I heard of the new update for it on the phone itself. It’s too much for it and my phone is lagging just a bit in and out of apps. Debating to get the iPhone 8 (vex free upgrade) or just pay the $259 left in my lease to keep the 6s.. hmm
I'm no Apple fan, but the guy has been honest enough to acknowledge that his first impressions were wrong. Such honesty should be celebrated especially on UA-cam, instead of having childish comment about alleged Apple endorsement...
Jon's been my favourite reviewer for a long time, I have kind of grown up on his reviews, but his initial impression of the iPhone is something I didn't expect from such a veteran. You have years of experience of working in this field + working with Apple products, at this point you should know better to reserve your first impressions, because of this exact reason. A lot can and does change between the phone launch and the review unit you get. Anyways, he made a video, I liked it, but he was hasty with the first impression.
Animated gif, exactly. No phone will ever be "the best" because no phone will ever be the best at everything. Plus if you are invested in a particular os it will be hard to switch and start all over.
To be honest, I don't see a point having a wireless charging. You can't really get rid the cable because you still have to plug in the charger to the outlet anyway.
I'm still on my iPhone 6 64gb still runs amazing. I'd say I'm a pretty heavy user on mobile devices as I never use wifi and stream hours of UA-cam or Netflix everyday at atleast half brightness or a little above. when I drive I stream even more music with no issues. And I also use it as a hotspot when I'm in need of Internet to do homework on my MacBook Air for college. I rarely turn it off unless it runs out of battery which is why I bought a mophie case to help with the phone as it is older. My next upgrade will probably be to an iPhone X but I will probably have to wait awhile as I think it will be sold out for atleast the first month or two especially because of Christmas being closer to release date than the iPhone 8 already being out now.
THEDESTROYER711 if you want to upgrade to iOS 11, wait a bit before you upgrade because of you get the current version you’ll have problems. My SE crashes every once and a while where as it didn’t before
Intelligent Investor I'll add that to the list also. Definitely not in a rush to spend $600-$1000+ on a phone. Again. Did that for this one as I had received a bonus and had some extra $$$ so still keeping it for now. I'm also trying to find a good case to enable me to have wireless charging and recommendations Anyone?
I bought an 8 coming from a 6S (since my account told me I had to make expenses) and to be honest, I'm just like you positively surprised. I might be a bit of a apple fan boy, yes, but I have been through my share of androids, and I can say that this new fresh quick iPhone experience (which will last until the next gen comes out of course) is amazing. Also, this battery is insane. I did a 15 hour shift at work, regularly calling, looking things up online, watching videos etc, end of the day stil 35% battery. And that was with no power saving enabled, so you can imagine, as Jon said, you can get few days out of it. I find this amazing and I think this is one of the most overlooked things and I do assume this is mostly due to good software integration, but for it only being a 1800-1900 Mah-ish battery, I am really impressed. Fair to say that I like it
Every single time someone complains about the resolution on any iPhone newer than the 3GS, I get pissed off. At 326 PPI, you cannot see the pixels unless you have superhuman eyes. At over 400 PPI, still that remains true. If you don't like the display, it's certainly not the resolution that's throwing you off.
A lot of people underestimated the iPhone 8. I would say the iPhone 8 is for people who aren't ready to get rid of Touch ID. They flawed it due to the exterior design, now the phone certainly has a lot of flaws, but it definitely is a very beastly phone. Apple has done a great job with it. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" fits this phone very well. Great vid man!
Tala Rezakamel not if your phone actually lasts all day and then you just place it on the wireless charger when you go to bed and wake up at 100 percent and then repeat. Saves your charging port, puts less stress on the battery and ultimately it’s just more convenient. Also, now that the iPhone has wireless charging, at least here in the states, we will start seeing wireless charging pads everywhere in public places.
Why wireless charging work slow is for that iPhone only can charge 7.5 watt while many Android phones can charge 15 watt. Testing it out here and did find things like that if you are interested.
Sean, my man, you're stupid. If someone can afford the iPhone 8+ within hours to a month of release, they can probably afford an X too. The X is predicted to be a disappointment because its a flagship model, which means Apple will be trying new things for it. This inherently makes the consumers of the X guinea pigs, and using their feedback, theyll refine the product and the X2 will be good. The 8 on the other hand just improves a tried and true formula.
I definitely wanted to have 8plus but because of its screen and same design i choose s8 instead. Got s8 in a good deal....not to forget the pricing where i live is wayyyy too much for i8plus
Lol the average user won't even need those features. You can record 4k at 60 fps but you can't even view it at that resolution!? It will be a great feature in the feature and TBH, I don't even have anything that runs 4k!
I find the "40% battery left at the end of the day" comment to be kind of weird. Like the 50 other reviews i've seen have all said it has the same battery life as the iphone 7. So why is yours so drastically different?
Bernie Valter thats would be even worse!......the only reason McDonald's sell in my country is because is the only 24 hour drunk food place so you dont die from alcohol
I just updated my 5s for the 8 plus and I absolutely love it. My only inconvenience with 8 plus is the difference in size. 5s was able to fit in any pocket, but I also wanted a bigger screen. Regardless, I'm very happy with my purchase.
I got my first iPhone yesterday after being an Samsung user for years. I am impressed by the battery life, but charging is really slow with the regular charger. Does the 12 watt charger really make a big difference over the stock charger?
Terrific review. Thank you for your analysis. I have the 6Plus, have taken thousands of sunrise and sunset shots with it. But it's time to get a new phone and based on your comments, I'm going with the 8. Thank you
Fast charging doesn't work out of the box. I bought this for $800 and I expected to be able to use fast charging. My friend bought the One Plus 5, and that is a couple hundred dollars cheaper. Similar specs and all, and he got the fast charging cable with it. I'm shocked Apple would do this. I traded that for and LG G5. Unless Apple does something new, I'll stick with products for the consumer.
And the reason I chose the LG G5, was so I can change out the battery if my phone dies. I used my phone until it died and changed the battery, and it was at 100% in 10 seconds. I wish phones kept that feature, but companies are removing it. I think it's pretty cool.
Have an iPhone 6s switching to the Pixel XL2 because I simply want something different. I don’t hate Apple but I’ve had too many iPhones and it’s just boring now
I'm doing the same thing man. Google's ecosystem and AI seem promising, But that camera is what sealed the deal. The iPhone x is too overrated for me. Maybe i'll go back in 2019.
Maicol Engström 4 B Kevinge skolan oh I’ve had the 8 Plus for a while now :) since release and yeah I can tell you it’s amazing and still feels brand new after months. Going to be keeping this for a while
Apple CarPlay influenced my decision to move from pure Android and the Pixel XL to the Iphone 8plus. Frankly I’ve been stunned by how much I love this iPhone. Wireless charging is a godsend, the battery life mops the floor with my old Pixel and the camera (especially the 4K video) is stellar. This iPhone with the glass back looks and feels like a flagship phone. Once iOS 12 is here and third party navigation apps are available for CarPlay this phone will be even better. Sorry Apple but Google Maps wipes the floor with that sad Apple Maps.
Ok, so not being biased and "reviewing the product objectively", here are the new and exciting features the iPhone 8 brings: - Different exterior colors - Glass-back - Wireless-charging (still slower than Androids) - Better battery life (with some devices having expanding batteries that actually rip the phone open) - Best processor ever, granting 1 second faster game lauchings - Super AMOLED screen (last gen though) - Camera on par with competition - Good speakers... (no headphone jack) - "Close to parity with features and specs of Android phones" Yeah, I changed my mind as well...
@TechnoBuffalo As you have used both the phone for longer period of time and given review, Which one you suggest between iPhone X or iPhone 8 Plus? In terms of Battery and Perfomance?
Angel Gutierrez ik..........but why are android users keep on coming out of nowhere and just start giving others their own opinions and making it sound like its better!
I am sticking with iphone 7 plus and would buy one if I was buying one today because it has 3gb of ram and a 128 model. I guess I will be waiting for the iphone XI or 12 or 20...lol. Until samsung has stores everywhere like apple and sells apple care and fixes or replaces the phone on the spot, near my house. No Dice.
DrAnalytical I have the iphone 8 Plus in silver. Good phone. But also am an owner of Android devices. I usually use the iphone 8 plus as my daily driver because of the processor and cam.
For me, iPhone 8, reason being, Coming from a 6 Plus, and having found it too large to comfortably hold in hand(due to small hands), I also have found the regular sized phone to be easier to fit into a pants pocket.
Go to any video praising the iPhone, look at the number of dislikes. Then scroll down to the comments, there are a load of android fanboys bashing Apple with extremely irrational, illogical and retarded comments. Then do the same for a popular Android phone video. You'll find almost no Apple fanboy bashing that phone. It's simply a popular bandwagon these days to hate Apple. They're usually kids who play a lot of video games. They hate Apple because they cannot afford or play games on Apple's computer lineup, therefore they also hate their phones, even though they have never actually used any of their devices. It's one of the saddest things in this day and age to see.
Stew not trying to sound racist, but the majority of them are Indians. iPhones are super expensive in India, that’s probably the main reason behind it.
The Original What a load of waffle. Has it not occurred to you that people like the design of the iphone and appreciate the hardware upgrades? People weren't constantly demanding an upgrade of the iPod's design. I go to the iPhone because I like the form, like the feel and like that it always works as I expect it to. No nonsense but plenty of quality. I swear Android fanboys and the anti-apple crown are was more toxic than the apple fanboys these days.
Apple's technology system is greatly diverse and is a driving factor contributing to people's loyalty to apple as well. I find this amazing because no other company offers a comparable device ecosystem then apple does
Whische They said device ecosystem, not app ecosystem, Google’s app variety is among the best no doubt, but their device ecosystem is a mess. No company other than Apple has a range of good devices that work so seamlessly, because Apple is a leading contender in all the main device categories; phones, tablets, PC’s, laptops, and smart watches. People are always benchmarking other devices against Apple, the trouble with any other company is that they make one good device and that’s it. Take Samsung, they have great phones, but what else? They don’t seem to be investing much into galaxy tab, no pc’s, there’s no ecosystem. Apples competitors run different OS’ across different platforms also, you have android on mobile, tablets, and god forbid smart watches, then Windows on PC and laptops, while Apple has iOS and macOS, essentially the same, they integrate so much better.
I have an iPhone 6 and am definitely considering upgrading to the iPhone 8/8+ or perhaps the X. My first issue is with battery life - iPhone 8+ > iPhone 8 Second is Camera, and again, iPhone 8+ wins. The third is the screen, and again, I want a larger screen so the 8+ wins. The storage comments you made really surprised me; I have over 13,000 photos of my device (backed up with iCloud so they may not be true size), and I still have 20 GB left of my 64 on my iPhone 6. As I live in Australia, pricing is a bit ridiculous compared to the states; AUD 1079 gets an 8 in 64 GB - to get the iPhone 8 with 256 GB, it's AUD 1329 The iPhone 8+ starts at AUD 1229 in 64 GB configuration and jumps to AUD 1479 in 256 GB configuration. My problem is that the 64 GB iPhone 8+ is the most I'd spend on a similar design to my current iPhone 6 and the 8+ here is nearing the starting price of a 64 GB iPhone X, which is AUD 1579, and for 256 GB is AUD 1829. Australia gets royally screwed with pricing, and the 8+ in 256 GB configuration seems so pointless as the X is so similarly priced.... My dilemma indeed - but I am extremely keen to see what Samsung does with the S9 (I need that screen in my life but can live with an iPhone screen just as much) and I want to see the OnePlus 6. What does everything think?
I have the Xs and I honestly wish I had kept my iPhone 8. To date, I still love that classic apple design and the gold and product red colors for the iPhone 8 (both of which I had) are still beautiful today. Love my iPhone XS but there are times when I just want be simple and use Touch ID and the home button
Lol, 24 months. Be a man and keep a phone for at least 3 years. I had my iPhone 4 for 4 years, followed by an iPhone 6 Plus that I had for three years, which I replaced with a Xperia ZX Premium, which was promptly returned and switched for an iPhone 8., which I am very happy with.
Battery life is great (I have the 8+) That aside, ElZamo92, why'd you keep a phone for 4 years, most carriers do a 2 yr upgrade plan of some sort (which is 24 months.) So yeah keeping it for over 24 months is just pointless
i know its a bit late but in about 2 months im getting the 8 plus. iv veen saving up for it for so long abd finally in about 2 months i can get it!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!
French Voltaire omg it’s so good!!!! I’m currently replying to u on it and I am so happy that I bought this phone over the XR. I definitely recommend this over the XR but if the XR is quite affordable to you then go the XR but if your wanting to save a bit more money then get the 8 or 8 plus. If you want an amazing camera like mine then get the 8 plus but if your looking for a camera that doesn’t necessarily have portrait mode then go for the 8.
Already i see a problem “charging is slower” 30 seconds later “battery life is better” any correlation you think? Think maybe a bigger battery takes a bit longer to get to 100% when you use the same charging device ergo same output for a bigger battery, just maybe?
Summing up iOS as a 'grid-array' of icons is largely unfair. There is so much advanced software and features in iOS that play a huge role in making iOS as successful as it is, the current camera app being a small example. The home UI might not have widgets, but this is not something hard to implement from a technical point of view. The things Apple is doing with machine learning, AI, and optimization are so much more impressive than some toy widget on a home screen. Apple doesn't have widgets on the home screen because they feel it harms the user experience, period.
I love some widgets that Android offers. I don't like IOS, it may be pretty fast and optimized, but IMO it is pretty boring and harms my user experience. If you like IOS ok, but I prefer the open non-limited Android OS. It's just a question of personal taste. I use my S6Edge plus for nearly 3 years and still enjoy it. But IMO it is good to have both worlds - IOS and Android.
That is the stupidest comment I have ever heard from yet another duplicitous iSheep. I own and operate multiple businesses and buy tens of thousands of dollars in hardware from Apple and othersper year for my employees and contractors. I have a top end iPhone 7plus 256GB along with my Note 8. I can tell you having the ability to customize your home screen and have widgets arrayed in the way that you want goes a long way in creating what is called “screen productivity” it makes thing s efficient and optimized for a better UI. Spend some meaningful time with a flagship Android and you would know what I mean. I love both OSs they both have pros and cons. The level of customizations provided by Android is astounding.
The iPhone 8 is like an ex, you bump into them whilst they are dressed up and they look good. Tempting a little bit but as soon as you approach them, then you realise that nothing has changed. Same old crap dressed differently. I am sticking with my iPhone 6 as it still works beautifully.
Hey Jon, this was a great and honest review. What would you recommend to someone picking up a phone on carrier plan. iPhone 8+ at 80$ vs iPhone X at 90$ a month?
@TechnoBuffalo The wireless charging is limited until a software release later on in the year (god knows why), but 7.5W charging is disabled at the moment on new iPhone's with Qi capability.
disgusting video... you didnt say anything about the insane amounts of problems that people have been experiencing with ios 11... especially what you said here min 3:40 "perhaps the 24 months you have the device" people should at least be able to hold onto a smartphone as long as a pc.
I do like my iPhone 8 Plus. I’m not interested in iPhone X, partly because of price and I’m not sold on the Face ID yet. Battery life is good for me but I don’t use it in the way some people use it all the time. Also, a lot of what you are saying isn’t all that important to me in terms of features. I don’t like always taking pictures with my phone. It’s more of an convenience if anything else. I like my DSLR camera but it can be a bit much to carry sometime. I’ll stay with iPhone for now. I’m an Apple girl anyway but if I feel the need to change to something else, I’ll do it.
Do I want the iPhone 7 plus 32 Gb for $700 or a regular iPhone 8 64gb? BTW I take a lot a pictures use social media a lot and sometimes have "on the go" games. Which would last me longer?
The standby time is incredible, so you find yourself draining a lot less battery than on something like an android phone. I had the s6 edge before my iPhone 8 and the difference in battery life is insane
No you weren't wrong, you're just surprised and it's better than you maybe expected. - Charging is slow as fuck (wireless charging even slower). Yes it supports quick charging but they don't include the charger? What the fuck. - Battery life sucks, especially using a *750p* display IPS LCD in 2017! *SEVEN FIFTY P DISPLAY* - Same old design, this is literally what the iPhone 7 should've been - NO reason this should be this expensive or more than the iPhone 7. Just imagine this phone running android, would it get the same "praise" comparing it to manufacturers android like Samsung and LG? Ofcourse not, because the phone literally sucks for 2017, yes it fast yes it has a good camera but this definitly isn't a 2017 "flagship" device and imo it shouldn't be priced like one.
Exactly! What's annoying is people like this "TechnoBuffalo" Apple sponsored reviewer is blatantly lying on behalf of Apple to dupe more people into buying this overpriced piece of shit to make Apple richer! And then people wonder why Android phone owners hate the iPhone.
Apparently fast charging wirelessly WILL be available with a software update in the coming months. it annoys me when people moan about the design of the 8 saying it looks too much like the 7, 6s & 6 but how drastically do you want the design to change? I mean if it isn't broke, don't fix it. the new space grey & gold against the glass looks way better than before, it has a real premium feel to it now. As for a higher resolution display, why do you need one on such a small screen? The majority of people haven't even got 4K on their home TVs which is where you'll notice the most difference. The true tone retina display is ideal for a mobile screen and uses less power, which at the end of the day is what everybody wants more of.
1. This phone looks different BUT design is same as its 4 year old iteration? 2. This phone is great BECAUSE finally wireless charging? 3. This phone is great BECAUSE the color is different? No get a dbrand? 4. Phone is awesome BECAUSE Oled, true color? This review is as biased as it can get. Big thumbs down!
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge user here. I'm getting really close to paying off this phone and thinking about switching to a new phone. I narrowed down to 3 choices. They are: Google Pixel XL, Samsung Note 8, and the iPhone 8+. In your experience, what do these phones have in common and what differences do they have? I used to own an iPhone 6 in the past, so switching to Apple wouldn't be a problem, but can't so much about the Pixel.
Honjae Lee Get the original Pixel XL. You'll save a lot of money, get a great camera, a headphone jack, *and* instant software updates from Google for a couple more years.
Sorry for feeling the need to critique your video Jon. 2:14 - Jesus people. Is it really that hard for you to plug a cable in? 2:30 - "battery life is WAY better" and then your left shoulder jumps up, showing you don't believe what you're saying. #microexpressions 6:40 - why oh why didn't Apple just make it 128GB and 256GB? It's not like it actually makes a difference in size within the phone now and flash ram is cheap is chips now. 7:25 - Just an FYI - when someone's voice raises several octaves it generally means they don't believe what they are saying. Or it's not 100% truthful comment. 8:08 - it's about damn time it had water resistance. Still falling behind android devices though unfortunately.
it should be the same considering its only a 200$ price diff... But i got the iphone X and its nothing like the other iphones also the portrait mode is fucking sexy i can take them in the dark, you really don't need the lighting that they say you do on the iphone 7 and 8 :P
Rairiku wtf r u on about?😂😂that literally makes no sense what so ever cos first of all I'm not a photographer. When I do seldom take pictures for some digital art, I use a digital camera. Ive just watched camera comparisons on UA-cam and iPhone camera invents color like nobody's business.
Hi im looking forward for an upgrade..im a heavy user..like my wifi is turned on 24 hours or if not its on data mode.. so im super duper looking forward to a battery life.. what do u think i should get? 7plus or 8plus??please i need answer... thank you
Yesterday I bought the 8 plus and am loving it. Because of my constant use of the camera for my business clients (I make photo and video slideshows/posts for Facebook and Instagram), I chose the 256GB model. I know I won't regret that choice. I take A LOT of photos. The camera is a true delight. Thanks for your review. I will share it with a friend who is considering upgrading her 6 plus.
I have iPhone 7. I am interested in the portrait mode / dual camera feature and bigger screen. Does it make sense to upgrade to iPhone 8plus? I am not sure about iPhone X this year.
Dose it come with the type of charger you need for wireless charging or do you need to buy that separately? Also is portrait mode only on the 8+ and the X but not on the 8?
iPhone 8, what are you doing? Upgrading? Waiting for the X? Going with Android?
TechnoBuffalo staying with my s7 edge..
Great job bro we are still waiting for the 10
TechnoBuffalo stay like that man honest with your opinion dont just change your opinion because of the viewers opinions
My upgrade is not until next year. So I’ll wait until next years iPhone Xs model and hope they add another color.
RUN! Savage android fans want your head for this! How dare you have an updated opinion after extended use of a flagship phone
Planning to choose between 8plus or xr?
Your forehead and your hair looks like the iPhone X top part lol
Prabhu s lol thats cold
I laughed so hard 🤣🤣🤣
Hahahah😂😂😂😂
I’m done I can’t lmao
Prabhu s ctfu 😂
iPhone 8 Plus all day! The iPhone X looks cool, but I don't need to be spending $999 on a phone and the idea of losing the fingerprint scanner and reachability just does not work for me. I am living on an iPhone 6 and the jump from the 6 to 8 Plus is going to be plenty for me.
David Rasmussen
My friend had the iPhone X
So I tried using the camera in a not so well lit area, and honestly I didn't really like it. I can agree with you so much, man.
Plus the iphone x doesn't have better battery life
My friend has the iPhone X and she says she hates it so I’m not getting it I’m stuck between the 8 or the plus
David Rasmussen same!
You don’t lose reachability
50% battery at the end of the day? Mate do you even use your phone?
I use mine all day from 8:00 a.m. until I go to bed. It's 9:29 pm right now and it's at 45%. The battery is great in the 8+.
W. Dearth totally agree
I noticed a review in which the iPhone 8 lasted longer than the iPhone 7+. What's your take on that?
Exactly! I’ll believe it when I see it for myself. I have a 6S+ which is supposed to have 40% at the end of the day. I only get about 7.5 to 8 hours of usage. On work days I wake up at 5:45 and I’m up until 10 or 10:30. Barely enough
that's even alomst the case in my iPhone 7+. So I would'nt be the least surprised
I just “upgraded” from the 6 to the 8, and WOW what a difference! So worth it!
Yep
You probably have the 11 now huh?🤔
@@marvinparker7872 nah she prolly has the 12
To be honest, the 8 plus still keeps up with the modern day iPhone models which I find pretty impressive, I got iPhone 8 Pluses 2 free ones for at&t trade in was a freaking bargain! Going from 6+ to 8+. Was like night and day. I won’t get rid of my 8 plus till I die honestly.

Coleton Bruch wireless charging is supposedly better overnight on the battery
Hannah Jones Yeah, you are right! Also, my local Starbucks has wireless charging. I hope it is more widely used though.
JNcustom35 You can also charge multiple things at the same time on it
That’s awesome that your local Starbucks provides that! I’m super excited to see where technology takes us.
I love both iPhone and Samsung ! The best of the best. Both have their strengths and downpoints.
elmer rulloda a balanced and un-offensive comment??? You're on the wrong website!
Wow, finally someone said it! 👏
The Original it was like the perfect balanced comment, and altough you found a way to fuck it up! Congratulations!
@The Original
Try using the Swype app for typing, it's a lot easier.
The Original shut up already you jackass.
Good news is that I have T-Mobile so I can swap my phone out three times a year.
its probably only me, but the fingerprint sensor doesnt work on my fingers on any phone, so face-ID would be amazing for me.
God Tube Official Channel That happens to me sometimes. Have you tried wiping your finger/home button before trying? That usually work for me
James Stringam you don’t have to put your face directly in front on the phone. It can angle downwards. They portrayed that in the iphone x official video
I still have the iPhone 6s. Other than the home button feeling kinda weak, it's awesome. I think I'll keep it for another year or so.
Idi B first impressions are just that... First impressions
Commended perhaps, I wouldn't go so far as to celebrate it
Idi B Andriod fans get butt hurt anytime a tech reviewer says something positive about apple
Also it’s a good way to sell D brand skins
Jon's been my favourite reviewer for a long time, I have kind of grown up on his reviews, but his initial impression of the iPhone is something I didn't expect from such a veteran. You have years of experience of working in this field + working with Apple products, at this point you should know better to reserve your first impressions, because of this exact reason. A lot can and does change between the phone launch and the review unit you get.
Anyways, he made a video, I liked it, but he was hasty with the first impression.
Samsung: BEST DISPLAY
Apple: BEST PROCESSOR
Both: Great camera and respective OS
Animated gif the screen on iphone is made by samsung
Animated gif, exactly. No phone will ever be "the best" because no phone will ever be the best at everything. Plus if you are invested in a particular os it will be hard to switch and start all over.
spread the love. both are win-win
Animated gif bitch Samsung makes apple's processor
Alepomotometoponemal Acid No they don't. Apple does, with the help of TSMC.
To be honest, I don't see a point having a wireless charging. You can't really get rid the cable because you still have to plug in the charger to the outlet anyway.
Nick Le there are wireless charging pads at cafes like Starbucks, which is really convenient
Nick Le correct but, you aren’t plugging anything into the phone and for some users that’s a +
EVRYTHNG so slower charging is a plus
Lane Shirley that’s a completely different thing we’re talking about. We’re not debating the speed of wireless charging in this thread.
Nick Le yo he made a good point too
I'm still on my iPhone 6 64gb still runs amazing.
What iOS version
Jack_Cydia I am currently on 9.3.3. Haven't upgraded because I haven't found a reason too still.
THEDESTROYER711 if you want to upgrade to iOS 11, wait a bit before you upgrade because of you get the current version you’ll have problems. My SE crashes every once and a while where as it didn’t before
Save some $$ and buy a mint condition but used 6s+. Not a huge upgrade going to anything newer for hundreds more.
I’m on a 6s Plus and I’m getting a 8 Plus for my birthday
Kailey Williams Cool!! just got an 8 plus for my bday too, upgraded from a 6s...yay us lol!! 👍🎂🎁
FearFanatic86 congratulations 🎉. And happy belated birthday!!!
Kailey Williams Thanks so much!!Congratulations and happy birthday to you as well!!! 😁🎂🎁📱
Me too! I got a 8 plus for my birthday 😊
Me too I’m getting my iPhone 8 this july🥳😇
A lot of people underestimated the iPhone 8. I would say the iPhone 8 is for people who aren't ready to get rid of Touch ID. They flawed it due to the exterior design, now the phone certainly has a lot of flaws, but it definitely is a very beastly phone. Apple has done a great job with it. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" fits this phone very well. Great vid man!
Not trading in my 6S.
Which one would you choose? Fast charging or wireless charging. I would prefer fast charging.
iPhone 8 also supports fast charging 😉
The wireless charger is stupid
Tala Rezakamel not if your phone actually lasts all day and then you just place it on the wireless charger when you go to bed and wake up at 100 percent and then repeat. Saves your charging port, puts less stress on the battery and ultimately it’s just more convenient. Also, now that the iPhone has wireless charging, at least here in the states, we will start seeing wireless charging pads everywhere in public places.
Joseph Rego But should you really charge your phone over the night??
Tala Rezakamel why not?
How this dude went from "don't buy it" to "this is the best phone" !? 🤔 WE NEED TO REVIEW THIS REVIEWERS !! 🤦🏻♂️
Junito Punto Comm We also need to review your grammar.
Mr.Mejia review ur mum
happy new year stooge
Best "iPhone"
And hence the title says, "I was wrong" you hypocrite!
Why wireless charging work slow is for that iPhone only can charge 7.5 watt while many Android phones can charge 15 watt. Testing it out here and did find things like that if you are interested.
Predicted 2018 iPhone X = Disappointment
iPhone 8(+) = Suprising Good
The Closet Gamer // TCG Because you paid a thousand dollars for a screen that's not symmetrical.
go get xiaomi mi mix i think u want that one
mozardthebest Believe me, if anyone does symmetry perfectly, it’s Apple. Check the MacBooks as opposed to other laptops as example...
Stay in your lane! Stick to your budget android.
But you won't be able to capture 4K @60 FPS or 1080@120 FPS. Now Apple has the best camera to record video
Yishu Singh 1080 @ 240**
Lol the average user won't even need those features. You can record 4k at 60 fps but you can't even view it at that resolution!? It will be a great feature in the feature and TBH, I don't even have anything that runs 4k!
Tmobile has pretty decent prices for the 8 Plus. I wan going to get a 6s plus but 8 is cheaper for some reason.
Sal Katari do you like the s8 so far?
Hi, do you put skin protectors on your iPhones? It seems to me that the 8plus catches scratches as hell... What's your experience please?
If the sales for the iPhone 8 series is lackluster it's probably because consumers are waiting for the X.
I find the "40% battery left at the end of the day" comment to be kind of weird. Like the 50 other reviews i've seen have all said it has the same battery life as the iphone 7. So why is yours so drastically different?
When you get a Galaxy Note 8 ad before this video... #Irony
Dalek Bricks thats called smart advertising
Tea Bags yea irony is more along the lines of a vet van running over a dog.
Dalek Bricks how is that irony? Google irony.
Dalek Bricks Your life is a lie
Dalek Bricks damn .. me too 😅
Woah, why so much hate people? It’s his opinion. Would you dislike him if he would like Burger King over McDonalds??
It is their opinion as well. So if they want to dislike it u can't stop them. Can u now?
Wait he likes burger king more.. Right, thats it.. Unsubbed
Bernie Valter Yes because McDonald's is better.
Bernie Valter thats would be even worse!......the only reason McDonald's sell in my country is because is the only 24 hour drunk food place so you dont die from alcohol
hello world he's referring to the fact that people are angry over someone else's opinion.
I've had my 5S for 48 months- Should I get the 8?
bigeve223 I’ve had my iPhone 5s since 2015 and I plan to get the 8 even though my 5s still works perfectly. It’s just that time to get a new one.
I just updated my 5s for the 8 plus and I absolutely love it. My only inconvenience with 8 plus is the difference in size. 5s was able to fit in any pocket, but I also wanted a bigger screen. Regardless, I'm very happy with my purchase.
I just did this upgrade a few days ago. Feels like a completely different phone
In a good way
bigeve223 yes
I got my first iPhone yesterday after being an Samsung user for years. I am impressed by the battery life, but charging is really slow with the regular charger. Does the 12 watt charger really make a big difference over the stock charger?
Terrific review. Thank you for your analysis. I have the 6Plus, have taken thousands of sunrise and sunset shots with it. But it's time to get a new phone and based on your comments, I'm going with the 8. Thank you
Neil B. Wood
Get the 8 Plus. It’s better than the regular 8 👍.
You just broke
-every Apple fanboy
JoiceVaderd the OnePlus 6 looks good in silk white.
Have an iPhone 6s switching to the Pixel XL2 because I simply want something different. I don’t hate Apple but I’ve had too many iPhones and it’s just boring now
why the fuck would you pick the pixel you're better off with the s8+
I'm doing the same thing man. Google's ecosystem and AI seem promising, But that camera is what sealed the deal. The iPhone x is too overrated for me. Maybe i'll go back in 2019.
Same, I wanted the pixel since it came out.
Dezjion Nelson 4K screen? We probably not changing to AMOLED because Foxconn has built 2 major plants in the US
You convinced me to get the iPhone 8 !!!!
coming from a 6s. the 8 plus battery is amazing to me!!!
bronzed beauty indeed
Maicol Engström 4 B Kevinge skolan did you get it? How is it :)
Maicol Engström 4 B Kevinge skolan awesome! Enjoy
Ok, so not being biased and "reviewing the product objectively", here are the new and exciting features the iPhone 8 brings:
- Different exterior colors
- Glass-back
- Wireless-charging (still slower than Androids)
- Better battery life (with some devices having expanding batteries that actually rip the phone open)
- Best processor ever, granting 1 second faster game lauchings
- Super AMOLED screen (last gen though)
- Camera on par with competition
- Good speakers... (no headphone jack)
- "Close to parity with features and specs of Android phones"
Yeah, I changed my mind as well...
Alpha Tyranax Dude, this isn’t a comparison video.
some people just dont like the shitty android OS
I don’t get why people like or buy the wireless charger...you can’t even use your phone while it’s charging...
Using your phone while it's charging just fucks your battery life up
Archington no it doesn't
eamonob84 it does it causes your phone to heat up more. Trust me go watch a video about it
I've got an iPhone 6 and need to upgrade because of memory problems and I've noticed it's slowed down a bit. Should I get the 8 or a 7?
Where’s my 5s gang?🙋🏻♀️
Janine Tan bruh u have the 5s🤐
Broke ass
Playing bingo.
y'all cold
Here..
Awesome now you can break both ends made out of glass , front and back
C-U-C-Y SILOT Same can be said to Samsung
C-U-C-Y SILOT just like Samsung back in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018?
@TechnoBuffalo As you have used both the phone for longer period of time and given review, Which one you suggest between iPhone X or iPhone 8 Plus? In terms of Battery and Perfomance?
but the 8 is 720p right? as the 8+ is 1080p?
and why would i bother filming in 4k when the screen res isnt even 4k
Hannes Christensson Thats why I record im 1080p, 4k actually gives worse footage. You get worse shadows and color accuracy.
no both phones are 1080 p
Hannes Christensson u can record in 4K and export it to something that projects 4K images or video.....there happy?
Shadow4279 Music No. Apple said that by 2019 all iphones will be oled.
Great video!! Btw wireless charging generates more heat than wired? Will it reduce lifespan of the battery? Thanks
Coming from a Oneplus 3 I love the iPhone 8. Be careful not to judge the iPhone 8 just because the design hasn’t changed. Just saying :)
What a dream, 50% by the end of the day? I'm at 80% after scrolling FB for 10 mins after I wake up >.< (iPhone 6 running ios 11)
For me, iPhone 8, reason being,
Coming from a 6 Plus, and having found it too large to comfortably hold in hand(due to small hands), I also have found the regular sized phone to be easier to fit into a pants pocket.
The like/dislike ratio just proves android fans are just as petty as Apple fans lol
It's one of the saddest things in this day and age to see.
you're extremely right
Stew not trying to sound racist, but the majority of them are Indians.
iPhones are super expensive in India, that’s probably the main reason behind it.
The Original nice bunch of essays with no argumentation just pure unjustified hatred.
I'd love to actually know why the iPhone 7 was so shit
The Original What a load of waffle. Has it not occurred to you that people like the design of the iphone and appreciate the hardware upgrades? People weren't constantly demanding an upgrade of the iPod's design. I go to the iPhone because I like the form, like the feel and like that it always works as I expect it to. No nonsense but plenty of quality. I swear Android fanboys and the anti-apple crown are was more toxic than the apple fanboys these days.
i might have switched to samsung, if i didnt have a $500 apple watch.
wolf protector111 that's the worst way of locking yourself in
Apple's technology system is greatly diverse and is a driving factor contributing to people's loyalty to apple as well.
You can always sell it
That’s the reason I bought a garmin watch (I need a sport watch more than a smart one).
I have an iPhone 6 and am definitely considering upgrading to the iPhone 8/8+ or perhaps the X.
My first issue is with battery life - iPhone 8+ > iPhone 8
Second is Camera, and again, iPhone 8+ wins.
The third is the screen, and again, I want a larger screen so the 8+ wins.
The storage comments you made really surprised me; I have over 13,000 photos of my device (backed up with iCloud so they may not be true size), and I still have 20 GB left of my 64 on my iPhone 6.
As I live in Australia, pricing is a bit ridiculous compared to the states;
AUD 1079 gets an 8 in 64 GB -
to get the iPhone 8 with 256 GB, it's AUD 1329
The iPhone 8+ starts at AUD 1229 in 64 GB configuration and jumps to AUD 1479 in 256 GB configuration.
I got the Red 8 Plus for my birthday and I love it!
Who else ignores the video and browses the comment section 🤔
ElZamo92 How is battery life on 8?
Battery life is great (I have the 8+)
That aside, ElZamo92, why'd you keep a phone for 4 years, most carriers do a 2 yr upgrade plan of some sort (which is 24 months.) So yeah keeping it for over 24 months is just pointless
Tell me more how keeping a phone longer has made you more of a man
ElZamo92 just because you are poor and have to keep your phone longer does not make you more of a man lmao
what about the environment, where do all the parts of your old phones end up? landfill and our oceans?
Really? Dbrand skin?
Better buy a Toshiba phone if I wanted to put Dbrand.
Greetings, kindly help me decide on what to get, iPhone 8 plus or the new iPhone XR?
Is just me? Or seems like apple paid the UA-camr bloggers to make us buy their not exciting anymore iPhones 8 and 8 plus.
End of day and you have 60% battery life? Yea that means you're not really using your phone at all
I'm totally confused, should I buy iPhone 8 plus or Google pixel 2 XL? Please help!
If you have to spend almost 2 minutes to talk about the colors and wireless charging, that shows you how boring and stale this "new" phone is.
woofinu After the novelty factor of the S8’s screen wares off, that too is a boring phone.
It's one-year boring vs four-year boring.
woofinu The Galaxy S line hasn’t been exciting since the S3 came out.
Maiva La why of course dude! Is an Apple!
Yea but it’s solid
Self-appointed tech reviewers ignored wireless charging only until Apple introduced it. Effing sheeples.
I currently have an iPhone 8 and I’m wondering if I should upgrade to an Xs or an 11 pro?
I feel like the 8 is a bigger upgrade to the 7 than the 7 was to the 6/6S
iMiguelAOG 6 to 6s was a massive upgrade trust me they seem similar but 6s is actually a lot better
i know its a bit late but in about 2 months im getting the 8 plus. iv veen saving up for it for so long abd finally in about 2 months i can get it!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!!
French Voltaire nice pick, what colour are you getting? I got the silver and even tho it’s more of a white it’s such a nice colour
That's what fandroids won't ever ever understand because they are so obsessed with specs
V Guerrilla then stick with Android, why bother
V Guerrilla You see, i'm jailbroken. So I have absolutely no reason to go to android.
The iPhone 8 is like an ex, you bump into them whilst they are dressed up and they look good. Tempting a little bit but as soon as you approach them, then you realise that nothing has changed. Same old crap dressed differently. I am sticking with my iPhone 6 as it still works beautifully.
Well, that's what you think at first. You have to get the device and then you truly appreciate the upgrades.
Im dead good one 😂😂😂😂
Samuel Musarika a lot has changed. Your just blind to see it
Hey Jon, this was a great and honest review. What would you recommend to someone picking up a phone on carrier plan. iPhone 8+ at 80$ vs iPhone X at 90$ a month?
*No u r not wrong u r paid by apple*
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
*Don't reply me*

this video is a result of "Before and after get paid"....lol
@TechnoBuffalo The wireless charging is limited until a software release later on in the year (god knows why), but 7.5W charging is disabled at the moment on new iPhone's with Qi capability.
disgusting video... you didnt say anything about the insane amounts of problems that people have been experiencing with ios 11... especially what you said here min 3:40 "perhaps the 24 months you have the device" people should at least be able to hold onto a smartphone as long as a pc.
Thanks for review , I'm with the 8
Does the iPhone 8 come defective? I already exchanged it two times from Apple and the microphone sounds windy and like if I’m far away
I have an iPhone 8 ; )
You can't convince me to buy another iPhone 6.
In my opinion it’s time for me an apple sheep to change to android
CBTECHKING It’s all opinion
CBTECHKING don't make that mistake
sounds like a paid review lol
Do I want the iPhone 7 plus 32 Gb for $700 or a regular iPhone 8 64gb? BTW I take a lot a pictures use social media a lot and sometimes have "on the go" games. Which would last me longer?
Battery life is good? On tests it's the worst lol
Joey Leal Maybe cause he's not blasting full brightness, which is honestly completely unnecessary
The standby time is incredible, so you find yourself draining a lot less battery than on something like an android phone. I had the s6 edge before my iPhone 8 and the difference in battery life is insane
It is really good, I play a lot on my 8 and watch videos, and the battery lasts one full day ! The 8+ I guess is even better 😊
Have you tested the battery life for yourself??
i use mine the whole day for nearly 10 hours and then at night. I usually end up with 35% left. So the battery life is really good.
*SEVEN FIFTY P DISPLAY*
- Same old design, this is literally what the iPhone 7 should've been
- NO reason this should be this expensive or more than the iPhone 7.
Juwiie well said my friend
Juwiie funny your so angry about it. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. Shit.
Jada Huckaby Nah. I was just adding my 2 cents to the conversation but if you don't like what i'm saying just don't comment. Shit.
Exactly!
What's annoying is people like this "TechnoBuffalo" Apple sponsored reviewer is blatantly lying on behalf of Apple to dupe more people into buying this overpriced piece of shit to make Apple richer!
And then people wonder why Android phone owners hate the iPhone.
All the android fanboys mucking up the comments. Stay bias boys
Waiting for the iPhone X
TheBalaloca You mean the Samsung galaxy s8 full hd 1000 dollar edition?
plus an ugly notch on the top of the screen lol
kaboombaby that notch turns me on bby
ZERO40BEATS damn it u've found out
lol wait for the new X next year, where they work out the kinks of an all new design, you will thank me later
#microexpressions
6:40 - why oh why didn't Apple just make it 128GB and 256GB? It's not like it actually makes a difference in size within the phone now and flash ram is cheap is chips now.
7:25 - Just an FYI - when someone's voice raises several octaves it generally means they don't believe what they are saying. Or it's not 100% truthful comment.
8:08 - it's about damn time it had water resistance. Still falling behind android devices though unfortunately.
good job !!! you nailed it !!!
So true
His eye blinked non stop lmao
Wow. Nailed that one good. Lol.
Bullet MagnetMan the 7 had water resistance also
Why does he sound like he got paid for this review 🤔 ... >>>i have the 8 plus its the same as the 7plus
jay man he is
jay man or maybe he actually likes the phone . If it were a Andriod he’s was praising device you wouldn’t be accusing him of being paid .
exactly, that's what I think too :)
The main difference is about $200
it should be the same considering its only a 200$ price diff... But i got the iphone X and its nothing like the other iphones also the portrait mode is fucking sexy i can take them in the dark, you really don't need the lighting that they say you do on the iphone 7 and 8 :P
I get to switch my 6s for a newer iPhone. Im actually leaning towards the 8 plus... should i get the X max? Im so conflicted.
Wait did u say the 8's camera isn't over saturated? that's funny. really funny.
Precious Kenz it’s not
Rairiku wtf r u on about?😂😂that literally makes no sense what so ever cos first of all I'm not a photographer. When I do seldom take pictures for some digital art, I use a digital camera. Ive just watched camera comparisons on UA-cam and iPhone camera invents color like nobody's business.
Shut up fat ass bitch u the furthest thing from precious
-TH3W0LF - salty. Didn't know potato chips made UA-cam comments now😂
Rairiku not really
I have s8+
Want an 8 plus
Is it a worth upgrade from the iPhone SE?
I came to Apple with the iPhone 6+ and will never go back to Addroid. Waiting for the X :)
Watching this on my iPhone 8 😏
@technobuffalo what type of Apple Watch do you have. I'm looking to buy one.
Dose it come with the type of charger you need for wireless charging or do you need to buy that separately? Also is portrait mode only on the 8+ and the X but not on the 8?
