I just bought a boat with hummingbird 998c si and co piliot is there any literature on how or what they do together I have no idea what the co pilot even does. I was told it will troll you to way points
The striker 7sv is an ok choice for a starter fish finder, but it doesnt have the same gps/mapping system as the helix 5 for around the same price point
Well if your budget is around $1,000, id recommend the Garmin 93sv on sale now (with gt54 transducer) for $699 bit.ly/3uJMoih or you can get the newest (gt56) transducer for $1,100 bit.ly/3HRrgdY . Another option would be the humminbird helix 8 MSI bit.ly/3GMu7U2
I've been debating for months now between the 7 inch version of Garmin Echomap UHD and Hummingbird Helix Mega. I've really been wishing someone would do a video showing both in action in the boat. I've read all that I can. Watched every video I can find. Still I'm unable to b pull the trigger. Talking to staff at the sports stores only makes it more confusing. I think a video that compares and shows in action the big 3 Hummingbird, Garmin and Lowrance in action would be helpful for a lot of people.
At the $1,000 mark most of these units are the same when it comes to quality of picture. The only things that separate them are connecting to additional sonar units or trolling motor on your boat. If you're just buying one sonar unit to put on your boat, you really cant go wrong with any manufacturer. It's only if you're trying to build a full boat system that you want to be picky in what manufacturer you choose.
@@jasonwimpee954 I did! I had a 20% off code for Mills Fleet Farm. Pulled the trigger on a Garmin UHD 93SV. The coupon brought the price down to the 73 price. The final clincher for the Garmin unit is that it comes with maps. I've been incredibly impressed with it so far. Not regretting my decision.
I’m in the same situation, can’t pull the trigger yet either a garmin or Humminbird, I want to see a video as well of both together. I think Humminbird has a better picture quality, but still undecided
@Alabama Crappie Adventures I still have a humminbird on my dash so I can use lakemaster mapping chips. I have the gt54 transducer for my new echomap 93sv uhd unit.
Hey I’m looking for something around the $800 or less mark. I bass fishing mostly but also troll for pike and maybe some panfishing. I watched the video and it gave me some great ideas but wondered if you had any other suggestions based on my fishing style Thanks.
@@FloppingCrappie i mostly fish for bass and pike and odd panfishing to. i know that the 73sv has US mapping but i am still figuring out what series fish finder would best fit for me. do u have recomendation in what kind of fish finder ,as of right now i have garmin striker 4cv plus . from my last post about the garmin 75sv. do u think if i were to upgrade to echomap series is it worth extra cost to get the sidevu or just get the clearvu and gps/mapping or other brand i should look in to. I will mostly be fishing off of my fishing kayak. your video explains helps alot but there so many fishfinder on the market it hard to chose from and especially the brand too. hope u can help
When you did this review of the Garmin did it have the GT54UHD Transducer or the GT56UHD Transducer? I can get it with the 54 for $750 or the 56 for $1099. Is it worth it for the 56?
Garmin had not come out with the gt56 transducer when I filmed this review. I believe the gt56 transducer with give you both mega imaging side and down vu, where as the gt54 only has mega side vu.
@@FloppingCrappie I've got a Motorguide 60 12/24v (30 yr old motor off my old bass boat, still works great!)...I have a Helix 5 at the helm but am wanting to put something up front while fishing off the front of the boat...
@@Xpyburnt_ndz I'm not sure if the helix 5 can be networked to another helix unit or not, but another helix 5 at the bow would be a good option. It comes with a trolling motor bracket for the transducer.
Hello Davis I need your opinion or help... my friend has a hummingbird 10 si Gps for sale maybe a gen 1 or 2 with transducer for 800.. well I've been looking at the new Hummingbird 8 si GPS for 1200. What unit would you go with.? The 10 may need the updated transducer not sure.. Thanks sir for your advice. Billy
Hey Billy, if the helix 10 is a gen 1 it won't have mega imaging, even if you update the tranducer. If the helix 10 is a gen 2 it will have mega imaging. The only difference between the helix 10 gen2 and the helix 8 gen 3 will be the upgraded mapping system built into the humminbird. But if your friend is selling the helix 10 gen2 for $800 you could easily pick up q mapping card for $100-150 and that would still be less expensive than the helix 8. If the helix 10 your friend is selling is a gen1 unit, I would probably go with helix 8. I still have a gen1 helix 9 that works great, but I think you will be really happy with the mega imaging technology for both SI and DI.
@@FloppingCrappie thank you sir. I found out it is a Gen 1 non mega non networking.. thanks alot sir I will pass on the 10 and buy the 8 gen 3... love your channel sir.
I fish for just about everything bass troll for Muskie walleye crappie bluegill if it's in a lake I'm going to try to catch it what would be the best choice for me. I don't fish big lakes and I have no idea what 90% of this stuff that is on these fish finders thanks
The humminbird 7 will show fish below and to the side of the boat. It, along with other sonar units that use mega imaging, will show a quality picture that you most likely will be able to identify the fish species.
Under $1k and reviews a Garmin unit over that price 🤣
Hello, great video!
Are there any differences, other than size, in the 93SV UHD versus 73SV UHD?
Thank you!
The 93sv is a 9inch screen, theb73sv is a 7 inch screen
How well does the side image work when the transducer is on the trolling motor

Just picked up a elite 7 ti2 with 3 in one transducer new from academy for $549 never had any fish finder over $10.0. Cant wait to give to a try!
awesome!
Humminbird’s units are to me the best
Do a video on the garmin striker 7sv

SH*T!!! Now I have to wait 4 days to watch??? This is getting ridiculous and out of control sir! You have no right!
Haha!
Just had a Helix 7 show up at my door yesterday
What do you think about a hummingbird helix 5? I'm still learning how to use it.
The helix 5 is a great unit for under $500.
Looking to get something else.... Lowrance ti2 is slooooowwww.
