    Left shoulder down "toward the ball" is key for me in the backswing and downswing is "tuck rear end under myself" (feels like reverse C finish). Great video as always!

    I watched a video of Mike Bennett swinging a six iron, down the line view. On the backswing, he starts in with his hands and then lifts them until his left arm is about even with his right shoulder. It appears in the video he goes back to the ball in a more direct path. Much has been made of how the club is swung back. I don't see how it matters as long as the proper, desired positions of the club and body are attained. Mike has a very enviable, graceful repeating swing that makes hitting good golf shots look so easy, but we all know it can be like a house of cards.

    Thanks, Nick, for more excellent instruction. In 2012, I was studying S&T (all of Andy's and Mike's materials) and used, at least, the left shoulder down movement in my swing. That move gave me more power and consistency. I am back now at 77 years old and determined to figure out the driver setup that will lead to the proper drive swing. I just got a Swing Caddie SC 300 to pair with my iPhone and tripod so that I can more closely study my execution of the driver setup and movements. Never did this the last time I looked at S&T. I firmly believe that S&T can help older golfers like me--especially with an aging body that can't make the movements of youth.

      How are you doing with the stand up and tuck your hips part? I'm almost 82 and I've decided that part is not worth the low back pain for me.

    Cheers Nick. Just starting to convert. Still working for consistency.
    64 years old; a bit of arthritis. Still much better than the old swing. Many thanks !!

    Everyone has different "feels"...this one is my favorite. I've got a couple minor variations in that for left shoulder down I include the left knee towards the ball. And for right shoulder down I try to bring my right elbow to right hip and rotate down. Works for all clubs.

    This is great stuff! Getting back into the game after almost 2 years without playing due to hip issues…finally just got my right hip replaced (first one 8 years ago on left side)…I bought the Stack & Tilt book years ago and tried using that swing. I found it’s much easier on the hips, and I can hit more solidly with far less practice than before, both of which are key in my life now (I’m 52). I just discovered your channel with videos and it’s soooo much easier to follow and apply. Thank you!!! Can’t wait to hit the range today. Hoping I can get back into the high single digits HCP by summer’s end.

    i must admit ive tried stack tilt somewhat halfheartedly in the past, but got nowhere as i think i did not comprehend this move, i was leaning over to the left 'tilting' but very incorrectly, however after viewing this and other should tilt down vids its finally clicked, i went to the range the other day and was delighted by the consistent impact position, out of 100 balls i only genuinely mishit 4 of those balls. looking forward to building on this for the new season come March/April. wish there was a S and T tutor here in the East midlands !! pps i suspect many who have not got on with this system again have not fully understood the 'tilt' cheers

    Really good reminder Nick, your right knee never moves towards the ball anymore on the downswing, has it improved your swing path and release?

    Started out with a very poor front 9 because of a rib injury. With nothing to lose, I decided to try something different, I had been experimenting with S&T to start this season. On the tenth tee, I just thought lead shoulder down to bent left knee. The back 9 ball striking wildly improved, mostly crisp shots. Something to this. 🏌️

    If you start the backswing movement with left shoulder down what’s the the purpose of when taking setup position to have right shoulder slightly 9:09 down ( as it then immediately gets replaced with right shoulder down)

      At impact the left shoulder should be even higher (tilt to right) to accommodate the hip slide and shallow the angle of attack so the setup helps this

    Great video! Where are your muscles contracting in the first left shoulder down? Are you pushing the shoulder down or crunching your left obliques? I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the shoulder down. I always find myself flattening my shoulders out.

    Hi Nick great video content.
    I seem to have one small problem is I'm drawing all my irons up to 9 iron which is great but some drawing too much.
    When setting up to the ball do you have your clubface slightly open to compensate for the more draw you now get with stack and tilt.
    Kind regards Tim

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Yes club face open to target at setup, your aim is to start the ball right - not at the target

    • @NickTaylorGolf
      @NickTaylorGolf  2 роки тому

      If you have seen the head on the wall drill, this will help give you the feel for the movement. The head should remain stable as a priority and tilting the shoulder down helps with this
