    You can sew the welt from the inside of the machine , welt to the inside, that will leave a nice gap so that when you stitch it together you stitch inside the stitchline and it will be perfect.

  • @whiteyfarm
    @whiteyfarm 4 місяці тому +1

    Hello Richard. I tried your method #432 and it does work. My biggest mistake was trying to save a little cash and I didn't use solid welt cord to make my welting but a softer braided cord. When I was putting the welting together with the fabric in a seam I was sewing 2 layers of velour fabric backed with 1/2 inch scrim. My little channel in the welting foot couldn't hold that big bundle of stuff under it and it kept trying to walk away from under the foot. That 1/2 inch stuff is hard to handle. I also found when sewing a regular seam with the 1/2 inch foam backed fabric that if I got too close to the edge of the foam it would slip from under the foot. I just recently found a good site by MRTC called Consew 206 maintenance vol 1 and it describes how to properly adjust the walking feet. Mine are way out and that I think that is much of the problem. It is all a learning experience but I am paying attention and getting through it. I have seen some sites on welting say that you should cut your fabric strips to make the welt on a diagonal. Can you tell me why? Thanks again. Fred.

    • @oldschoolautoupholstery
      @oldschoolautoupholstery  4 місяці тому

      Hello Fred, Yep, the thicker the material, the harder to work with. Learning is doing right? Make mistakes makes a better you. I have seen the diagonal cut to join two pieces for welt, but I never do that method. Please keep liking and watching!

    I'm sorry to bother you with this, but I know you will respond to me. I recently happened upon great deal on the same Juki machine you are using. I have not been able to find a definitive answer on what fits as well as to what is good and what is junk. I'm new to industrial machines and contacted a major sewing machine supplier for help to get a zipper foot and a couple of sizes of piping feet. The lady I spoke with referred me to an industrial machine "expert" but he hasn't responded to me. I'm trying to get what I need to complete a project before the end of the year. Could you point me to the above feet that fit this machine or a resource that can help me? I'm sure it is a simple matter, I just don't know what might be a universal fit, what needs to be machine specific, etc.

    Hey Rudolph... Me as a newbie in upholstery for 2 years, doing mostly car interiors, learned all from YT videos from a highly talented man that rhymes with "sewitslow" just discovered you out lately. Its amazing how you almost have all the right answer to all of my open questions. I can not thank you enough for sharing your experience with us, especially technique # 96378 is a banger ... I love to watch your videos.
    Greetings from Germany 🤟
